In all honesty, if Shepard isn't in it I won't be looking twice at it. I am still very disappointed with the way things turned out for my Shepard and dammit she deserves to fight on - as a human being - alive - and non-reaperized! The ME franchise is dead to me if I cannot continue her fight. I don't care what you come up with, some larger threat than the reapers/leviathans, whatever as long as its interesting and fits within the lore of the ME universe. Hell, I would play my Shepard until I'm eighty as long as the story and galaxy continue to expand and stay engaging. Start another run in another trilogy with another character? Meh - no thanks. And please, for the love of all that is sacred - NO MMO!
That is all.

So by that logic, no one can say anything about George Lucas and Star Wars.Deltaboy37-1 wrote...

Casey, I want you to not make another Mass Effect.
You have already done enough damage to my favorite game series.
And if you ignore this, and make one, I promise you, I will not buy it. Do not waste your time. Make another game. Any other game. Mass Effect has told it's story. Leave it alone.
Please, Casey, do not make another Mass Effect.
In case you didn't know, just about everything you like just as much as everything you don't is a result of Casey Hudson, he's been here since the beginning... And not to mention it was HIS idea in the first place...
Now read what you wrote again with this same knowledge and see how we seen it. Let's just say it sounds a little weird.

It was drews idea numbnuts. Not Casey's. Give credit where its due. No author takes some OTHER guys idea to write, most have too many ideas of their own to bother.
He had the idea, Bioware wanted to make it into a game and brilliance was born.
Then most of the staff left or was replaced and we were left with Casey and his brainchild along with his best buddy Mac Walters.
Mass effect 3 is his baby.
Give credit where its due.

On topic - I think they should delve into how Garrus formed his squad between Mass Effect 1 and 2. How he formed them, and what happened. You know... The awesomeness... Though, come to think of it, it might not have enough sustenance to supply itself as an entire game.

In any case, my main hope for a new mass effect game is to continue the process of developing a different "vibe" for each of the games. ME1 really had a sense of wonder, excitement, and adventure in a new world, much like Star Wars. ME2 was the gritty, dirty dozen of the trilogy where we got to see that this pleasant universe developed in ME1 has a dark side. ME3 is of course the war story. All of these themes were developed beautifully, and I can't wait to see what vibe ME4 will have!

Varied exploration (Mako + Hammerhead + ME2 sidequests + Hub worlds + mini-hubs like a more explorable Feros & Noveria)
Choice of Race
Weapon & Armor Customization
Squad Banter
Increased dialogue
ME3 style MP
More romance options (including casual romance)
Squad members that vary with based on your character's origin and morality
Recognizes & rewards/punishes previous choices
Squadmate approval/disaproval (like DA minus the gifts)
My proposal:
ME4 - play as a c-sec officer, military officer, or spec ops operative for the council (can play as any of the council species) investigating a missing science ship and two warring species of alien from another galaxy.
ME5 - After the two warring species from ME4 were given embassies, they started battling again. Knowing that conflict is imminent the galaxy rushes to prepare, but a third party has encouraged tension between the Citadel and Omega. You play as an operative of the citadel, omega, or the third party. For the alien conflict missions you play as your ME4 character.
ME6 - War has come to two galaxies. Pick a side and fight the war. You can play your ME4 & 5 character.

Honestly, I don't know. The endings of ME3 make it difficult to do a sequel series unless they toss the destroy/control/synthesis thing out the window and force a canon ending to ME3. And at that point, I think it'll be hard to argue for the storytelling of the series anymore.
Agreed, I think they really screwed themselves with that ME3 ending... would be tough doing any sort of plausible follow-up to it... and frankly, as a progressive gamer, I like games that move forward instead of backward (especially since Shepard was such a stand-out character). Metal Gear had Big Boss that also went by the name of Snake (and is the source material of the main char Solid Snake)... so Konami could get away with it. Bioware isn't really in that position.
It's like a new 24 w/out Jack Bauer... hard to really care about it.
Best bet (imo) is to go for next gen, wow fans with the graphics and pretend ME1-3 never happened. Reintroduce Mass Effect in a whole new way.

Because as of right now, it seems pretty hard to think of a sequel making sense with all the possible endings we got and if you (talking to Bioware) decide to go with a specific canon ending, you're going to disappoint everyone who took something else and/or hate what you chose.
Also, going with a prequel game sound nice and interesting on paper, but not everyone like prequels, not everyone want to play a game where they already know what will happen at the end or in the near/distant future.
Really, the only way i see you guys doing a Mass Effect that could please a greater % of your fanbase, is going through a reboot while keeping what makes Mass Effect... Mass Effect. And with the whole "disaster" that followed ME3's ending, i'm not sure you guys want to risk doing something that might displease too many fans.
Special note : I want to drive a vehicule again. Makes the world looks much more bigger and interesting. Plus exploration is always cool. I would give you virtual cupcakes.

Yeah, I'm baffled as to how the handled the ending. Besides all the details, I mean. If they intended to make future games, you would think that the status of the universe would always emerge from the trilogy more or less the same regardless of choice, at least enough to establish a common cannon while still having your choices compatible with the immediate future of the universe. It's the characters who should have ended up in vastly different places. They're the ones you care about and they're the part that's easiest to avoid in post-me3 games.

That would be an incredibly hard sell (and given their recent writing fidelity, would come off as ignoring/retconning/making little of past events)... especially with the synthesis/"universal harmony and peace on earth" ending. What would the conflict be? Control has a Shepard with a full army of Reapers (while in destroy, the Reapers are completely wiped out).
The Reaper King/child already confirmed that his creators were the first Reapers, so there's no sort of Forerunner possibility outside of a Reaper-death-contingency (which still flies in the face of some endings)... etc. etc.

To those who say that Mass Effect was Casey's idea is wrong. The original Lead writer of ME1 was the brain child behind the Mass Effect story. But said Lead writer was transferred to DA2 in the middle of the creation of ME2. Which is why ME2 had little to no real overarching storyline or plot for that matter. ME3 is a complete debacle. Fact is Casey was just Project Manager not the brain child behind the games story.
That actually makes a lot of sense regarding series continuity...
