ME4 : Dark Space. A certain Asari (a cameo by Liara), now head of an Asari research institute looking into the Relay network, commissions the building of a new Cruiser. A joint venture with expertise and crew from across the Citadel races. Its mission to map the entire Relay network for the benefit of all Citadel races. The Ship is named after Shepard. It has stealth systems so it can enter a new relay system and remain undetected. If hostile races are encountered it can defend itself with Reaper shielding and weapons (freely given by the Reapers in Control and Synthesis, recovered tech reverse engineered from Reaper remains in Destroy and Refuse). It has an advanced AI as ships computer with a personality a cross between Mordin Solus and Edi. The new Commander, is introduced in a similar style to how Shepard was in ME1, with a decision taken between Citadel councillors and Liara. Face, race, class and gender all customisable. The Commander has to pick his Team, these missions are like the team building in ME2 as they create a backstory to each new character. As well as showing even after the events of ME3 there is still plenty of intrigue and conflict within the galaxy. Oh yes and an unmapped relay that strands The Shepard in dark space where things much older than Reapers are waiting..
So at heart an RPG with exploration of new regions of the Galaxy, new races, new conflicts. Vehicle exploration with a new vehicle with better handling than the Mako, but with more shielding and weapons than the Hammerhead. Perhaps minigames involving piloting vehicles like the Atlas, space combat, games of chance/skill with the crew (poker/shooting range). Life or death decisions that do substantially impact on subsequent games. Dialogue wheel conversations (paragon, renegade, neutral and investigation options), ME3 style squad based combat (minus groucho marx style movement), weapon mods, customisable armour, romance, humour, journal that updates, face import that works for new trilogy, minor rant incoming..and above all a well thought out story without massive McGuffins, unnecessary protagonist death and deus ex machina characters that nearly burn the franchise to the ground for some players. When I complete ME4 and have done everything the game requires I expect to feel like I have won..see ME1 and ME2 endings. And the hours spent playing it, although objectively a waste of time, shouldn't feel that way...
