If they do a sequel Liara is going to be kinda hard to avoid given the Asari lifespan!
Popular as the idea may be I don't think Bioware dare do a prequel - without invoking the curse of the Phantom Menace/Enterprise, which nearly sunk Star Wars & Star Trek respectively when they failed miserably to do prequels.
If they set a sequel over a thousand years after ME3 Liara would be dead, but the galaxy would have changed beyond all recognition (look at our world 1000 years ago). They would loose most of the benefits of 'more stories to tell in the Mass Effect universe', just as badly as they would by going to another galaxy altogether. There has to be a basic level of familiarity for it to still be Mass Effect, or they may as well just slap a different name on it & start again.
So whatever they do as a sequel Liara is likely to be out there. Given her information network & her habit of meddling in galactic affairs it's unlikely that she would be uninvolved in any events significant enough to provide the story for further games.
I think they would need to handle her differently though. I wouldn't necessarily want to see her as a squadmember, she should be older & wiser. She could fill a role more like Anderson/Hacket in ME3, mentoring & guiding the player on their mission. I picture her as a darker, more serious character by then. Dressed in flowing black and perhaps reminding us more of her mother, only without the stupid headdress & not showing quite so much cleavage (although that would doubtless be popular with some fans.)
I think including Liara would be nice continuity between the current trilogy & future games. Like having Obi Wan in all the Star Wars movies but in one trilogy he is the hero in the other he is the wise sage guiding a new hero.

- We only get to read about "the Miracle on Palaven" which is only a small part of the war on that planet
- We never see the fall of Aucturus
- We hear only briefly about the fall of whole systems such as the Argos Rho and Voyager clusters
- The Hanar, Drell, Volus, and Elcor make cameo appearances and little more
- We STILL haven't seen female Turians
Why not try something new in a familar setting? I would love to see the invasion from Palaven; half the war is fought there and we never even get a glimpse of that planet.

Call it "Mass Effect: Spectre". Human, Salarian and Asari are your starting race options. Each has an 'Act One' on their respective homeworlds. After they prove themselves, they are taken to the Council for Spectre testing and training.
Make it incredibly RPG'ish. Have different quest lines based on your species. Have the overarching plot be a bit more sneaky and have your character put in less of a spotlight. Start with a small 2-person ship and as you progress and gain allies, you get bigger ships.
Different companions for each race with a few of the same ones running through each Species Arc.

You would be able to see the worlds (like Tuchanka, Rannoch, and Palavin for example) in the future of complete technological advances. You might even be able to encounter some of the old crew from the Mass Effect games (granted any of them survived to tell the tale), possibly even see the offspring of Shepard if he had a relationship with anyone.
Other then that I would like to see a remake of the Multiplayer for Mass Effect, still Co-op Based but with some better tweaks to it compaired to the first go round (might be better to release it as a stand-alone disk this time round for more content and better work-ability).

How about intergalactic travels/ missions, new species. Actually, to tell you the truth it feels all a little dismal, what with all the bugs that still plague EA online and going through another traumatic series, with a buggy MP. I am not really too sure I would want to suggest something more.
Go ahead. Do your thing anyway. I guess.

this is the only possiblity of me ever playing something ME again. Such simple requests, ignored in favor of artistic bull and starbrat nonsense, ya i really want to play a whole game to listen to more of that crap at the end...no really... and then i'll fly away in my solid gold F16...

Yeah I had a similar idea. It seems an obvious place to start from whatever characters & situations we could move on from at the end of ME3.

No prequels, no MMO, no pure FPS/action/action-adventure game.
I really want another ME RPG trilogy, set AFTER ME3 and with a new hero we can customize like Shep and transfer throughout 3 games.
Plz Bioware!
I love the ME trilogy (just finished another epic three game playthrough) and I wholeheartedly agree with this. I feel very strongly that the story of the ME universe should move forward rather than back. A whole new three parter would make me very happy indeed.
I trust BioWare to tell an excellent story, write great characters, build fun and exciting gameplay, oh and to hire the best voice actors around. I can live without multiplayer but as long as it doesn't interfere in any way with the single-player, I don't mind.
So forward - bigger, better, faster, stronger - moar really.
Thank you!

How about a game set after ME3 that begins like Dragon age Origins?
Let me explain: In the begin of the game we have 3 different stories, representing the 3 endings. So the destroy "origin" story is completely different than the control "origin".
But then, after about 2 hours of play, something happens, something that is the same for all 3 origins, just like DAO (you joining the gray wardens). This something needs to be so big that it will fundamentaly change the whole universe, and it should make the 3 different origins equal, so that we have a single story line to follow. Here Mass effect 4 really begins. The origin story is referenced multiple times, and can alter bits of the story, but the main storyline stays the same (like in DAO)
If you do this you have
A: No canon enging
B: you dont have to make a diffirent game for every ending (Mass effect 4 Green edition)
Thoughts?
IMPRESSIVE! Most Impressive.
Kuddos to you for a viable way to acknowledge all the endings. Now the only problem is how to make it work...

In all seriousness we have 75 pages worth of ideas and not a whole lot of people really going "Yes we definitely need this." By this point there should be some common ground everyone can get behind. I'm not trying to anger anyone but let's not get out of hand or we could have this terrible situation nobody wants
"Alright so what exactly do the fans want for Mass Effect 4"
"Sir, there all over the place we got one asking for an MMO, another asking for a RTS, some want a prequel, some want a sequel, some want space combat, others want to play as other races, some want canonized endings others want it to be told alongside the main trilogy, there's SO many options sir."
"Crap...alright gather ALL the ideas up we're gonna put them on this wheel and spin it, I'm going to throw this knife at it and whatever it lands on THAT'S the next game...and Mass Effect 4 will be a Dance Dance Revolution game starring Tiny The Volus Stripper...welp let's make it HAPPEN."
I'm joking of course but you get my point
Well most people seem to want a Sequel at least.
Most people want a sequel, most people want different species to choose from, most people don't want Shepard to have any big presence in the next game (aside from maybe some small reference like a statue in his/her honor), most people want the next game to have ME1's feel and ME3's combat system, most people want less autodialogue, most people want to keep the dialogue-wheel,....did I forget something?
No that's pretty much the majority of what most people want to see even off the bioware forums. Thanks for this I appreciate it. Even I support these ideas.
it's just a matter of when are we going to hear back from Bioware on what exactly are they going to choose to do. If anything I expect them to reveal what ideas are chosen in like an interview with Game Informer or something several months possibly years from now. It's unlikely that someone from Bioware is going to comment on this thread they seem to rather speak through action rather than speak to the fans "Hey man we like this idea it's going to be in the next game don't you worry."
Hmmn!?!
Assuming someone has taken the time to sift throught all this I am encouraged. If this is a summary of what the majority of fans want then there may be hope yet. Both for the next game & for the splintered fanbase.

Please ABSOLUTELY NO MORE LIARA....period.....ME4 is time to move onto a whole new cast of characters....No son/daughter of Shep....not all of us have romanced Sheps....no cast from ME1, 2 & 3.....Though I also strongly suspect BW has already made their mind up up what's happening in ME4, so this whole thread is most likely a moot point.
