Protagonist:

Well-educated young adult from a wealthy background. Underwent rigorous training from childhood in their field (Soldier, Engineer, Adept, Vanguard, Sentinel, Infiltrator) making them stronger, faster and more mentally agile than most.

Brought up on a space station with minimal visitors.Curious about the galaxy. Has only heard stories of the other races and worlds to be found. Geth best friend acts as personal assistant and guardian as instructed to by Mother.

Raised by Mother: Miranda Lawson

Premise:

After their home station is attacked and destroyed, the protagonist sets out for revenge against their anonymous enemy.

The protagonist and Geth friend soon realise that they’ll need help if they’re to achieve their goal. They travel to Omega and using what credits they have, purchase a ship and hire themselves out as Mercenaries in return for support, information and allegiance.

Together, they go on to make new friends and foes alike. They build and improve their team with new members, weapons and armour. They upgrade and customise their ship whilst also eventually starting and adding on to their own personal docking station. As the station is upgraded and populated with residents and businesses, the more revenue the Protagonist earns and faster their reputation grows.Along the way. They learn that there may be a far more shocking reason for the attack on their home than first thought.

Protagonists Mother - Miranda Lawson:

A known associate of The Shepard. Whereabouts unknown for approx. the last 17 Earth Years

Additional Data:
Former Cerberus Operative
Former Overseer of the Cerberus Lazarus Cell – Responsible for reviving The Shepard following the destruction of The SSV Normandy SR1
One sibling – Oriana Lawson – Whereabouts unknown for approx. the last 17 Earth Years
Intelligence reports suggest that before her disappearance, Lawson may have been planning to continue experiments in cellular regeneration and genetic modification.
Medical files show signs of genetic manipulation to a severe yet stable level. Genetic modification to this extent has provided a longer lifespan than average humans but has left Lawson infertile beyond remedy.

Geth Squad Member
Engineer class
Constructed personally by the protagonist and their mother as a joint project.
Acts as a personal assistant and protector to protagonist.
Interested in learning about social interactions between different races.
Enjoys the mechanics of music. Often found in his quarters listening to current favourite genre – Human, Earth, Rock, Sub-genre – American rock anthems; Earth Years 1950 AD – 2050 AD.

What I would like to see:

- If it is the same universe to have the story take place after preferably 3,000 years ahead (more room to grow if you plan to make another trilogy).
- Entirely new cast of characters (no living character encountered from the whole trilogy to make an appearance. Probably an descendent but nothing more)
- Playing a different race (The SPECTRE's or something similar; to make this work in a story standpoint)
- An antagonist similar to that of Saren (don't know what it is but he just worked better than any of the antagonist that appeared after him).
- A world that feels more alive (NPC moving around freely with the exception of POI NPC).
- Space Battles (Something along the lines of ACIII Naval Battles).
- Story based Co-op Multiplyer instead of a Horde/Firefight mode (More fleshed out than Halo 4's Spartan Ops).

 I would like to see.
General:
  • Frostbite 2 HD Texture. (come on, my Radeon HD 7870 need a challenge!)
  • Improved Multiplayer, some co-op missions will be ok,
  • More appearance DLC.
  • Renegade and Paragon Interrupt at the same time (Choose your Destiny)
  • Choose betwen all races both(if possible) genres, and customize it.
  • The current ME3 gameplay is ok (movement, shooting, cover, etc.) more than that will turn into a FPS.
  • Check the difficulty settings, remember that on ME3 insane for Soldier class is walk in the part for Adept class.
  • Many current weaponds have small differences which turn mostly redundant and/or incenesary.
  • Seek for a game with Replay Value, so player can play a new game to get something, not just to try another class.
SIngle Player:
  • No import from ME3.
  • Set after ME3 event, not too soon.
  • New Character (of course and races).
  • ME3 ending must be picked on the character background, Instead of Spacer, Colonist and Earthborn, we can pick from something that generates background info from Control and Destroy. Using codex and some conversation with npc to know about it in game.
  • Forget Sysntesis, it was an easter egg ending, ading it to the background info would require an aditional programation and game mechanic. sacrificies must be made.
  • Control's background info doesnt necesary requires to have iteraction with Reapers or Holoshep, just the mere mention is ok.
  • You start on the System of the race you choose, later other systems open while game progress.
  • The Galaxy is vast, so lets not recicle enemies (racni, geth, etc.).
  • Own customizable spaceship, with upgrades, designs and etc. Also energy capacity to travel other systems.
  • An statue of Shepard somewhere.
  • Specter the Ultimate Goal!
  • No need to save the galaxy, but every race should have diferent goals, or make it open (sandbox) game.
I can go on, and on, my mind is full of ideas, but the base si that you can start a new adventure on mass effect .

Ohh aand you have until November of 2014 to finish, so go and Break a Leg! :P

Though intriguing, I don't want a prequel. The ending left Mass Effect open for so many other NEW stories to explore. Maybe rebuilding the galaxy? More prothean secrets? Discovery of a race from another galaxy entirely, and the war that ensues?

I love the story the trilogy put together, but I know the outcome of every war. A prequel just isn't something I desire.

P.S. I do love the action in the universe, but make the combat more versatile while adding more RPG elements. If open-world Mass Effect could be done I would be blown away, and likely be throwing my money at my computer screen.Even if it can't however, please do try and make the combat less linear.

Focus on a full single-player experience (I know you love that word).

Make a separate multiplayer ME game after DA3.

- Set several years so you can create new stories with new characters.
- Being able to choose the race of the protagonist.
- Many more interactive dialogues.
- Romance more carefully and do not throw there.
- Many more choices that affect the storyline.
- A major component ruolistica.
- New races and the possibility to reach the Andromeda galaxy.
- Many fewer steps action.
- Adding stealth missions and espionage.
- Increased exploration.
- Less places aisle funnel.
- A final decent and not crap like 3.
- Make a full game and not cut out to make the DLC.
- No multiplayer component that takes resources of money and time in single player.
- Addition of riddles and puzzles.
- No life that auto-but use medkit and armor points.

i was really dissapointed in how bioware handled dialogue in the third game.I believe that half the magic of mass effect rested on giving the players plenty of dialogue choice that let them create their version of shepard as in the first two games.the third game immensely reduced conversation options and ,instead, added  auto-dialogue.Unfortunately reviewers state that the latest DLC STILL has reduced dialogue.PLEASE bioware bring back to the franchise the type of dialogue from the first two games. Also it would not be bad if you let us add talent points to intimidate and persuade as in the first game.Thank you for your time.

There's enough materials to do just about anything. You could make a new IP called, "Zaeed Massani" and peeps would buy it just because they created a really interested character. Thought it was funny, damn interested story with the guy. Troops like em.

FPS view would be cool. I would prefer it over 3rd person perspective. I don't entirely understand why the feature wasn't implemented in the first place.

well, why not, if it still has the same RPG-Elements (like Deus Ex (first one, all those after that were worse)) like skills and a party that you can command (i would like to be able to control them, too - switching to a party member via buttons and then having their first person view :) - also i want to be able to have third-person available (mostly for out of combat roleplaying reasons (talking to companions etc.))

so, yeah, FPS - if done right :)

The Dragon Age team is considering adding making their game open and free-to-roam. I would like to see this in Mass Effect, as well as more RPG elements.

But for the record, I have always abhorred the concept of "leveling", its too gamey. It would be nice if the team did something else. Allow our biotics to increase with implant upgrades and require consistent training to simply maintain. Make the game fun outside of actual combat, not just a "break" but a fundamental part of gameplay. Mass Effect was made famous through its story, seize upon that advantage and see it to greater heights!

Mass Effect 4 Story Opportunity

Like many, I am excited to see that this wonderful universe
will continue anew in another game down the road.  Regardless of how I felt at the end of the
trilogy, the complexity of how to continue into a new game while keeping the
multitude of player choices from the prior games is perplexing to say the
least. Given that the end state of Mass Effect 3 alone has 3 galaxy altering
endings, and dozens of smaller but important choices, I would like to propose a
solution I’ve been picturing for a while that will allow the multitude of
player choices to be accounted for, without having to resort to an assumed or
canon path.  I would be grateful to see
what you think, and even if this idea is useless to BIOWARE, I feel it’s worth
discussing.

I propose that ME4 opens with the early stages of
exploration and colonization of a new galaxy.
The mass effect technology to achieve this feat is within the realm of
possibility and lore within the universe, especially when considering the
reapers had themselves created enormous mass relays (aka citadel) which
connected to a location well outside the confines of the galaxy.  It is not mentioned in game, but can be
assumed that a similarly large relay was located where the reapers were hidden
in dark space, to allow transportation back to the galaxy proper.

There are three main reasons to shift the focus of the
series to a new galaxy. First it is to bring the scale of the game back to a
micro-universe and much more manageable level. Secondly, this allows the
introduction of new content and lore into the ME universe. Lastly, it provides
a convenient way to plausibly account for numerous choices made in the past
trilogy that I’ll elaborate on later.

 Simply put, the scale
of the ME universe is huge.  The last
game had our Commander Shepard make enormous galactic-level changes, and this
should not be the standard for ME4, as the complexity of choices became an
obstacle to navigate around, rather than a medium to utilize for the writing
staff.  With the exploration of a new
galaxy, a relatively small chunk of space could be used as a set piece with which
the new trilogy expands into, while still being able to pull all the past
canon, lore, races, and choices into a new experience. It will allow a
“frontier” focus for the game with a closer and more personal theme.  Post ME trilogy, if a (insert race here)’s
world is destroyed, the impression was, “Okay, big deal, they have hundreds of
others.” In a smaller scale setting, if you only have a few colonies populated
by several races, it becomes a much bigger event, especially if the player
relies on that infrastructure or has personal connection to it.  In addition, I envision the expansion into a
new realm of space would have to be accomplished without much support.  Assuming a ME mega-relay was built in the
Milky Way to reach another galaxy, another one would have to be constructed or
sent to the new galaxy to connect them. If this was the case, the story could
be set in an environment without that second relay being finished, which would
lead to a very interesting dynamic of needing to send supplies/colonists into the
unknown, and reliance on supplies being sent from the Milky Way.  It would also be interesting to see if
quantum-entanglement devices would work at such remote distances as well, and
the lack of communication between galaxies without the connecting relay could
also be an explored idea.

The impression given by the ME trilogy is that even though a
small percentage of stars had been visited in the galaxy, the expansion of
races had been fairly vast, and there wouldn’t be too much new content
available to add with respect to new species and cultures, creating a stagnant galaxy.  By expanding to a new galaxy, all the
previous races/cultures could have small influences/outposts into the new
frontier, while enabling endless possibilities of new races/technology/culture.  Perhaps other species in a new galaxy (if
there are any) utilize a completely different technology than mass effect
fields for space travel, which would lead to an interesting dynamic.  New races could be technologically superior
or inferior, especially without the cleansing experienced by the galaxy under
the reapers.  This also delves into a new
Fermi Paradox free galaxy.  In ME lore,
the reapers solved the Fermi Paradox, explaining why humanity hasn’t found
other life, given that the reapers had been cleansing the galaxy
repeatedly.  Assuming life had formed in
a new galaxy, it begs the question how it would evolve or what challenges would
it face without the cycle of extinction experienced in the Milky Way, where you
may have a millions of years old civilization.

And finally, here are a couple of ideas to resolve the
multiple endings seen in the first ME trilogy, and explanation of why moving
the story to a new galaxy simplifies the situation.  The game would have to be set hundreds of
years into the future (damn Asari and Krogan lifespans), both for the idea of a
supermassive ME relay being feasible after galactic reconstruction, and to show
some progression in the Milky Way species.
All surviving species from the Milky Way can be represented in the
frontier galaxy, as each race, or conglomeration thereof would have a vested
interest in expansion, (perhaps with the exception of the Geth if they
survived, considering they would view territory and resources differently than
others).  Races whose fates are in
question from the first game could still be represented in the new galaxy as
colonists, as the Quarians and Krogan would in all likelihood still have
survivors after the events of ME3, even if they were an “endangered
species”.  If there was a second version
of the citadel in dark space as previously mentioned, it too could play a role
in developing the large scale ME relay.
Here are some examples of how each ending of ME3 could be incorporated
into this scenario.

For Destroy Ending:

Assuming the citadel had been rebuilt, the technology for
large scale ME relays is present in the station. After the war ended with the
reapers, the remaining civilizations rebuilt.
However the political structure of the galaxy could vary widely between
alliances and struggle for power, and expansion could be viewed as the solution.  A common theme in much scientific literature
is that spacefaring species come to the conclusion the only means of ensuring
their survival is to expand so widely that extinction becomes a nigh
impossibility. Since the reapers proved a single galaxy does not provide
sufficient expansion, it is only logical to conclude a greater expansion is
needed. With the potential space and resources associated with a new galaxy
opened up, it also may prove a stabilization factor in the Milky Way (a place
for all those potential new Krogan babies to go), avoiding the resource
conflicts of old and providing support for a joint species construction and
colonization effort.

For Control Ending:

With this ending, the reapers are still flying around,
either protecting or policing the galaxy controlled by “meta-Shepard”.  Because intelligent species are still
individuals, conflict is sure to ensue either with the reapers or with each other
at some point beyond the reapers means of control (short of indoctrinating
everyone).  Since great feats of
construction are well within the reaper’s capabilities, it would be feasible
they built a massive new relay to allow dissidents, (aka people who don’t like
skyscraper overlords) to leave, relieving the conflict. It also addresses the
problem of Reaper reproduction; if even one reaper were killed every dozen
years for a variety of reasons, maintaining order over unruly folks would be
challenging without turning them to liquid paste and making more reapers.  Therefore, expansion into a new location may
provide the reapers an opportunity to make more of themselves in the long run,
especially if species in a new galaxy were hostile (I smell evil long term
plan).  The reapers would then be
protecting the Milky Way inhabitants while alleviating many issues.  Or in a much more positive outlook, the
protected civilizations of the galaxy could request the reapers build a
mega-relay to help resolve issues arising as mentioned in the “Destroy” ending
scenario above.

For Synthesis Ending:

Probably the trickiest ending to incorporate into any future
ME game is the assumption all life in the galaxy now has synthetic gene coding.
What is not made clear is if understanding between synthetics and organics
provides for individualism.  Do
synthetics (even the reapers) now have individual motives and goals since they
understand organic nature? Even if organic weakness has been removed, conflict
is still just as likely as it was before, unless the synthesis ending promoted
a general sense of peace and understanding (Borg-ness).   If we assume the galaxy is still full of
individual entities, conflict is surely going to continue; now just with
reapers in the mix potentially turning on each other, but also capable of great
feats of construction.  Even then, many
individuals would leave the galaxy if given a choice, which is similar to the
Destroy reasoning.  If we assume the
galaxy has found some measure of peace, then reasons for expansion may differ
from the growing room motivation as well.
Since the final evolution and blending of synthetic and organic life has
occurred, it is reasonable that this solution to the synthetic/organic conflict
would want to be shared with other life in the universe, as it took so long to
attain in the Milky Way.  Differing from
the Control set-up, it is entirely possible a past harvested civilization was
close to developing very long distance relay construction before they were
wiped out.  This information was
subsequently stored and archived by the reapers, then shared after the
synthesis ending providing the means for reaching a new galaxy.  For whatever the reason, expansion into a new
galaxy would isolate a ‘synthesized’ colonist population away from the Milky
Way, which may create interesting and new tension, especially if considering an
encounter with new species, or even all synthetic-based life galaxy.

Any of these endings as well as other major choices could
easily be incorporated into a new galaxy setting, without major lore
predetermination or navigation, especially if the entire first game was situated
solely in a new galaxy.  These are just  some of the ideas I had concerning the future
of the series, but I honestly think a change in setting would greatly aid in
simplifying and recreating a new Mass Effect experience, without losing what
was accomplished in the past.

Thank you for reading this entire post, and I’d like to hear
what others think! If you are upset with the ME3 ending I understand, but
please don’t troll with anti-BIOWARE statements.  Just trying to look ahead in the series, not
get mired in the past.

Well, I have no problem with the leveling, but biotics effectivity to be upgraded with implants...that would be sweet. As in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, upgrading your augmentations. Maybe a mix between that and leveling? If that's possible. You'd need to find a good balance.

But a open world ME like Skyrim, with the difference of space travelling...that would be awesome :D
But of course, if you make a game that is based on space travel it is really hard to make it that open world. A certain linearity has to be there. But less linear then ME2 and ME3 would be great. The chance to just roam through really big colonies would be awesome.

But please BioWare, read this and take it to heart:
- let the player choose what race and what gender they want to play! Asari, Turian, Salarian, Krogan, Quarian?
- expand the possibilities for character customisation!
- make the side quests more interesting, give them more depth!
- don't make us drive the mako on empty planets and/or unapproachable mountains!
- don't make us grind planets for hours and hours for a couple of ressources so we can actually upgrade our weapons!
- let our decisions influence the entirety of the game! how do people outside of our squad react to our decisions? how does the opinion of our squadmates on us change with every decision? let them desert us if they hate us! transfer this system from DA:O!
- let us customize our ship! many people seem to want this.
- keep going forward! there is no need for a prequel! Protheans against Reapers? Krogans versus Rachni? First Contact War? was everything told in codex, books and during the games! if you keep going forward you have a huge playground for your authors, because the future was not touched yet!
- make it possible for us take over our decisions from the first trilogy! if not via save import, then via multiple choice questions before the game starts! (example: "During the war against the Reapers Shepard had the choose between the Quarian people and the Geth. What did he/she do?" A: Destroyed the Geth and saved the Migrant Fleet./ B: Sacrificed the Quarians for the Geth./ C: Was able to save both.)
- don't make us play a super idol soldier person if we don't want to! it would be awesome if we could start with a different origin, as in a lowly merc, a stealthy thief, a refugee seeking revenge for what was done to his/her family. there are many possibilities, but playing every time a super soldier when the story of one super soldier is over would be a little disappointing. I love Halo, but Master Chief's story is still going on. Shepard's on the other hand has been told.
- many people want different kinds of missions and not the simple "go there, shoot 'em up, mission accomplished" type of missions. you could vary the type of missions with the background! if someone wants to play a thief, you could make the missions more stealthy like! It would be hard though with having a squad and all.
- give the romances more depth! not the simple smalltalk until the final mission and getting it on then! Give them more sweet time with each other! It doesn't have to be much, but make it look like actual romance and not simple bodily attraction! and keep the options of potential romances vast and open; for everyone! (M/F, F/F, M/M)
- keep the combat system from ME3!
- bring in more drama, more tough decisions!SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILER: Believe me when I say that manly tears were shed after I accidently killed every single Quarian, making Tali kill herself (she was my LI btw, so that blow hurt twice as bad)after she witnessed the destruction of her entire race. I had to restart the whole mission again. But the same with Legion, having his people destroyed, just after he gained a real self-awareness.SPOILERSPOILERSPOILEREND

So, that would be it for now. I believe that most people who post here would join me with these points. I really hope you guys see this :)

I would like to see them do a prequel one shot game in the lines of Halo Reach was for the Halo games. I consider Reach the best game in the series even including Halo 4. It had a great story and it was all in a single game, not in three parts that you had to wait years to finish.

Have it set during the First Contact War where you play a human through several locations and then on a second disc you play as a Turian. Since the Mass Effect franchise is pretty much turned into a shooter game now with just a dash of RPG this seem likely as good as an idea as anything.

Also since multiplayer seems likely, you could have a huge full multiplayer game instead of the beta we got with ME3.

Besides, I would rather not see them do another trilogy since they will likely give it a crappy ending like they did with ME3 and the original trilogy.

Of course buying anything EA/BioWare makes is another whole issue with me. So do what ever, I’ll rent it first and if its actually good this time I may buy it when it’s on sale as a $20 game.

By the way do we even know if Casey Hudson even is reading this or really cares what we think?

Ignore the ME3 endings. Shouldn't be too hard, given that the ending choices in ME1 (Dest. Asc. and Council) and ME2 (Save/Destroy Coll. Base and keeping people alive) did next to nothing.

I think it would be neat if you play as a leader of a mercenary group, small, but effective. You slowly get drawned into a personal conflict with a criminal faction or perhaps a rival mercenary army.

You got like a shoddy base at first, but later manages to get hold of a really nice old military ship and makes that your base of operations.

You could perhaps have a space battle too.
