ME3 redux?

This but no redux lets call it ME3 what we told and lead our audiance/fans to believe starting back in '06 or because that's so long the real ME3 no bullsh!t or simply ME3  redux with both those other two long tittles as slogans and stuff on the ads and posters that way it's a sign of the lies being admitted too and not deny and talk down to the fans.

 Here's my contribution:

For the next game, I'd like a quest journal that has actual functionality if you please.

Thank you.

I would love to see anything about mass effect, I love everything about the games ofcourse there are dissapointing parts but overall i've loved playing the games and still call it my fav series of all time to date. But seeing a new me series with the dedication and enthusiasm that made mass effect so well loved, more rpg less about the shooting would make most people happy :) as that is what the game was about primarily "The Story" :) Perfect that and you will be loved 100% <3. Thanks for reading and goodluck with future projects and look forward to dlc for current me3! :D Ciao for now!

Less pressure feeling to get missions done, pacing of ME1 with the same feeling of exploration, give the player a chance to relax

MINI-GAMES + FUNCTIONAL ECONOMY:
Large hubs with lots of mini-games (pazak, etc...) that allow the player to buy / sell / trade to trick out their ship, crew, gear, etc...

REGENERATIVE CONFLICT ZONES:
planets or regions where baddies respawn and we can go XP grind for hours... or months :-) (think Final Fantasy games)

SLICE OF LIFE:
I want to be a privateer (Han Solo) in the ME Universe. I want to buy a swank condo on Bekinstein like Donovan Hock... or better yet... start and run my own crime syndicate like Donovan Hock. Hot alien groupies, fast cars and a the fastest illicit cargo transport in the known galaxy. The... uh... Century Hawk... yeah :-)

A REAL RPG:
I am a die hard Mass Effect Fan. Go look me up Bioware. I've dumped HUNDREDS of dollars in to the Mass Effect franchise, collectors editions, EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF playable DLC. art books, everything. So it breaks my heart when I sit down on the couch at night and I say, "I'm in an RPG mood tonight." What do I do? I reach for Skyrim. ME Is no longer an RGP. It's a really deep Tomb Raider. I want to play ME4 and spend HOURS dinking around in the armory lab on my starship (The Century Hawk... ) perfecting the ultimate ammo to take down renegade droids at my workbench. I want an Alchemy Bench for guns, tech and armor. What happened to you Bioware?

FRACK THE FRACKING "A" BUTTON:

What's the deal Bioware? Pretty soon we'll all just be "mashing 'A' to play game". Please clean up your combat / run / dodge / cover / mechanics. I hate getting stuck to every surface in the environment and then dying. The game design trand to bind every action to a single button is not magically lowering the barrier of entry for casual players. It's a fad. Following fads is not what made you a world class developer. Think for yourselves you used to be great at it.

Otherwise I'm drinking the koolaid with everyone else here... gimmie a sequel, etc...

^ pretty much spells it out for me... I want something that fuels a more personal, in depth perspecitve on the mass effect universe. theres still plenty to be told in the series, even if it doesn't totally revolve around gunning your way through the story as a soldier-  hell, take most of shepards squad mates for example.... and conversations should exceed mass effect 3's cliche- 2 option dialog trees.

*salute*

I've rarely been a fan of crafting in a game.  I tend to find it just takes time away from the core gameplay and story.  But other than that, I like the rest.

Story idea, you grow up as an orphan in an alien environment... Maybe your parrents got killed by the Reapers or cerberus or war profiteers or whatever, you don't know, they just dissapered.
You got adopted by a family who had decided to help war orphans. Maybe a Turian family, or a mixed specis family who could only have kids by adopting.
The character could be a Human, krogan, or whatever... Even a very young geth who got left behind when the reapers destroyed the other geth stationed in the area, AI's learn from experiece.
Anyway you grew up in a non typical way for your specis, lets say the family is a fairly typical Turian family, and you're something else, but you still learn to live by their norms and adapt to their kind of life, join the turian miltary for basic training, muster out, and then eventualy destiny commes crashing down on you. And about joing for example the Tutian military, no matter how off the specis, they know your adoptive parrents who come from a respectable Turian family. Or whatever species they were. Im pretty sure you could create a lot of interesting combinations to create an interesting "family" history, that might be slightly odd ball.

It would certainly make for a very original protagonist who is very normal in a very unconventional way, in a galaxy that's been through a lot. Lots of interesting stories and funny social situations and awkward moments.
It would also make for a character that would be hard to read for other characters, who doesn't work the way they expected. And a unique perspective to explore. If someone is capable of writing the stories.

The name you were given or took, could cause mixups or confusions. If you arn't turian and got a distintly turian name then a receptionist might approach the turian next seat instead of you causing another of those stories of your life.

Character complexity.

Good list. The "A REAL RPG" part is the most important. Somewhere along the line cinematic presentation took precedence over player agency in the Mass effect series. Unfortunatly the same thing seem to be happening to Dragon age as well.

Skip anything story-related to reapers. A game taking place on the citadel dealing with intergalactic politics would be much more interesting. No Lovecraftian omnipotent awesome overlords.

And make it a tactical squad-based RPG.

It's not just BW. Final Fantasy has done the same thing. Instead of being able to equip any weapon, each character now has a signature weapon. Not bad considering they introduced the ability to customise those weapons abilities....... but then even that got pulled.

I agree with the sentiment. Game developers need to stop following the trends of other game developer's and try being the trend. BW's dialogue wheel is a case in point. Other games are trying similar dialouge branch mechanics (FFXIII-2 spring's easily to mind), so BW have already set a trend in character interaction and identity.

Excellent list. They need to give us plenty of stuff to do that doesn't involve combat. After a long mission (or short mission, ME3), I just want to get on the ship or visit a hub world, and get away from the fighting for a while.

Like in Skyrim or The Witcher 2 for instance, there's so much you can do out of combat. Not something I can say for the ME games. Sure you can talk to squad mates and other NPCs, but they really only say something after big missions.

On a side note...I would like to see Commander Shepard waking up in rubble in London at the start of ME4.

BTW Bioware, why are you asking us? You never listen, here are some examples...

1. this is the most talked about no-no pre ME3 release....We never wanted a Deus Ex Machina and you did not listen and gave us the same thing with a different name called the Crucible!

2.We wanted our endings to be personal to us and our decisions over all games. Instead, you ignore us on this fourm and our past desicions make no difference in ANY way shape or form reguarding the ending or plot because no matter what you do the end resolt is always the same. You also gave us no closure even after the EC.

3. We wanted an ending that ended with a bang and a Hell Yeah moment. Instead you ignored us again and gave us an EXACT copy and paste ending of Deus Ex's ending and made the reapers roll over and "die" that left us with no emotion at all as a single bullet kills the greatest villians of all time.

If the following phrase "We like it because it doesn't feel too videogamey" just don't even let it get past the drawing board. A new ME game needs to get over the fact the universe can longer expand or grow and MMO's need to be avoided. That genre is getting hit REALLY bad.

Regarding that comment about MMO's. You know why I no longer subscribe to MMO's? Because I'm a recovering WoW junkie.

After WotLK I hit Cataclysm and the setting just didn't carry me in the same way. So I never renewed and when the sub ran out I was suddenly hit by the realisation that I had nothing to show for 2-3 year's of gaming.

No replay value. No save data to go back in at a later date. No place in on the shelf with all my other really old games like Jagged Alliance that I can play again and again when I get a hankering for top down gun battles.

I wonder how many other's out there have hit the end of their subscribed MMO phase and come to the same realisation?

Heck, even my guild friends are no longer accessible because they keep changing host website's and I'm out the loop.

If Bioware are serious in not only asking for our thoughts
on a new Mass Effect game but also listening and taking on board what we have
to say on a new venture into the mass effect universe, then I think this is a
great step forward.
I’ll start with my concerns and get the negativity out the
way.

Concerns

One. Please don’t turn the series into a space themed call
of duty. The inclusion of an online co-op was enjoyable and being able to
import your avatars to contribute to your efforts in the single player was a
nice touch. But Mass effect 3 showed early signs it was starting to drift into
the combat genre and away from the rpg adventure games we were drawn to mass
effect in the first place.

Two. Please, please, please don’t do a prequel. The series
expanded out into the entire galaxy as the reaper threat grew. Going back to
the contact wars shrinks the chance of exploring the galaxy further.

Three. No blank slate’s. I understand and partly share the
frustrations and gripes with the ending, but its not an excuse to scrap the
entire universe over it. Choice influenced endings was the poisoned chalice you
unleashed on the series finale. Accept that you weren’t able to achieve it,
pick a canon ending and free the new storyline from it.

Right rant over. Here’s how I would like a new story to go.

Theme: Galactic Civil War  Updated!

Shepard had saved the galaxy from the Reapers.
(I’d use the control ending. It takes Shepard and Reapers out of the picture and we don’t
lose certain characters or races. It could also be used as a way of bringing the reapers controled by shepard back into play as a potential threat/conflict with the new lead)
Eight years on the rebuilding continues. Questions
regarding the leadership of the previous Council’s handling of the Reaper
threat as well as the frailty of the new reformed Citadel Council begins to
surface causing discord amongst the allied races. In this backdrop of finger pointing
and power struggles a rogue organisation HADES rises to fuel the fires led by
a new antagonist. To investigate this new threat Admiral Steven
Hackett forms a team under the command of a new protagonist (for now I’ll go
with the name Wolfe) to track down the rogue organisation. By the end of the
game the galaxy will be on the verge of galactic civil war and your actions in
the game determine who will side with the council and who will side with the
independants even Wolfe will be forced to pick a side.

What we bring from Mass Effect 3:

Have an option to import choices from last three games, all
but the final ending that needs to have a cannon ending (Control). Characters
from previous series make cameo returns as people of influence in the new
story.

Add the comic book choices for new gamers as a DLC or
something.

New Protagonist:

_____ Wolfe aged 27 (age 19 in prologue)

This new character controlled by the player is introduced
during the final moments of the battle for earth. A survivor of the initial
Reaper invasion volunteers for Admiral Andersons guerrilla force. His combat
and leadership skills earned the respect of the admiral and takes him under his
wing. During hammer teams charge to the citadel beam he provides cover for Anderson as he reaches
the pillar of light before Shepard.

Eight years later Wolfe has become disillusioned by peace
and the power grabbing of the political leaders and has spent the time in the
terminus systems. It is in a bar he is approached by a representative of
Admiral Hackett inviting him to lead a new peace keeping special ops team.

Throughout the story Wolfe is open in his cynicism for those
in command and doubts the worth of the council. He is even critical of some of
Shepards actions. Despite this his time with Anderson has given him a moral obligation to
do good in the galaxy, but by doing it his own way. Wolfe is a bit more
streetwise and socially aware in his approach to other peoples than Shepard as
well as being philosophical and conflicted about his own choices and
responsibilities.

Character background selections:

History of reaper invasion:

-Hero Rookie: +Paragon

-Orphaned Civilian:

-Rogue Survivor: -Renegade

Actions since then:

-Hero Vigilante: +Paragon (I'm Batmaaaaaaaan!)

-Drifter:

-Mercenary: -Renegade

Antagonist: Updated!

A new antagonist that leads through power and intimidation. A combination of the Illusive Man's cool, calculating mind and Saren's aggression and combat prowess. I like the idea of a female villain.
Gathering relics of the reaper war and recruiting the stringless puppets of the indoctrinated she builds a new military force that rival that of the Shadow Broker and Omega's gangs. With this she uses the insecurities and past grudges to sow the seeds of discord amongst the allies.
Her final objective: To start a war that brings the reapers out of hiding and bring them under her control, the same way Shepard did.
The villian needs to constantly be the thorn in the new characters side, constantly countering Wolf'e attempts to support his allies and lead him as well as being an opponent they cant overpower with force but with help from friends and allies.

Potential Plot Scenario’s:

Prologue- Set eight years before the start of mass effect 4
during the final moments of the battle for earth. Wolfe is in the ruins of a
street searching for Anderson
as the remaining soldiers prepare for a final charge. He finds him finishing
his strategy meeting with Shepard’s squad (Keeping Shepard’s face out of shot).
Anderson
instructs Wolfe to remain at the makeshift camp much to Wolfe’s frustration. Anderson tells him that
the charge is a suicide run at best and there is little chance of survival even
if they succeed. Later Wolfe listens to the comms and hearing its going bad
sneaks out to the battlefield. Seeing the carnage before him he believes all is
lost untill he see’s Anderson wounded and stuck in cover by suppression fire. Grabbing a dead soldiers sniper rifle Wolfe provides
cover for Anderson.
After a brief conversation between the two over the comm Wolfe begins to make his way back. As
he does he looks up the sky and sees the stars inter mingle with the space
battle. The citadel bursts with light and forms the mass effect silhouette. Show logo, piano music, smily face.

New Species Scenario- Early on in the story the council send
word a new species achieving FTL speeds and have used their relay for the first
time. The council have opened initial dialogue with the races representatives
but there is discord amongst their own. The species has divided between the
traditional, introverted nature of their spiritual heritage and the growing
interest in discovery and exploration beyond their borders. Wolfe is sent to
recover a representative who favours their people joining the council. The new
race character represents newcomers to the franchise and will be filled in on
past events.

Dealing with the Geth: Daro’Xen still harbours desires to
control the geth, which threatens the peace on Rannoch , and reports are she
has a secret operation going under the nose of the Admirals and the Conclave
itself. Wolfe is tasked to assist in infiltrating a synthetic lab and escape
with the data and Admiral Tali’Zorah’s agent inside.

Betrayal: One/Some of your squad has framed Wolfe, for
planning an bomb attack on the new Citadel, and is being sheltered by HADES. The
ship has been hit bad by council ships potentially killing some of your crew. The
traitors escape inadvertently leads Wolfe’s remaining crew to HADES main base
of operations. Raiding the facility Wolfe comes face to face with not only the
traitor/traitors but the main villain himself. Wolfe has a chance to persuade his old
allies to redeem themselves or kill them outright.

Game mechanic ideas

-Tech tree’s for research projects.

-Expand on the loyalty idea.

Conversations, Inclusion on missions, Mission Choices can
make people loyal to you (More likely to survive) or make them disloyal and
eventually betray you. Making the loyalty more concealed can add to the shock
of having someone you like suddenly stab you in the back.

-Conversations

Have multiple people involved in a conversation that await
your response as well as one on ones. Having lots of conversations lead to
Wolfe speaking about his own feelings, going into detail about his traumatic time
at the hands of the reapers, to friends and even more detail with a LI. Reward
us for seeking conversations by making them more two sided.

-Galactic Support Rating

Priority missions, sub missions and dialogue options will
influence a systems level of support for the council. You can choose to steer
your supporters away from the council or galvanise their support for it. This
idea is inspired by XCOM.

-Squad mate relationships

Being cupid and encouraging relationships with potential
couples. The commander shouldn’t be the only one getting a bit of nookie here.

Other Additions:

-More varied model sheets

Have different shapes and sizes to species as well has more
distinctive clothes and apparel to make each race’s cultural differences stand
out.

-Ship Exploration

Combination of Planet scanning and driving the Mako. Maybe
some kind of mini Starfox set up with mini one on one dogfights on top of
resource gathering.

-Skyllian five poker minigame

Playing poker with an elcor. Enough said.

-Choosing your NPC crew. Scouting and recruiting your own
crew members leads to stat bonuses to your ship and more and varied dialogue
options.

Character suggestions  Updated!

Theme: Galactic Civil War

Shepard had saved the galaxy from the Reapers (I’d use the
control ending. It takes Shepard and Reapers out of the picture and we don’t
lose certain characters or races). Eight years on the rebuilding continues. Questions
regarding the leadership of the previous Council’s handling of the Reaper
threat as well as the frailty of the new reformed Citadel Council begins to
surface causing discord amongst the allied races. In this backdrop of finger pointing
and power struggles a rogue organisation HADES rises to fuel the fires led by
the Cerberus assassin Kai Leng.

Antagonist:

Kai Leng survives his fight with Shepard and is gathering
any reaper tech he can find. He is now obsessed with technology and getting new
implants, a side effect of exposure to reaper tech and his own implants, and
has become mentally unstable now the reapers have gone. He gathers left over
reaper tech in the hope of becoming a new reaper himself and purge the galaxy
of life. His group HADES consists of the remaining indoctrinated Cerberus
agents and genetically modified experiments and aims to divide the allied
races.
PS: Should have had more of him in ME3. His ego and taunts at shepard as well as his superiority over shepard at several points in the story makes him a great adversary. Without the reapers and Illusive Man would like to see his mind unravel a bit.
