Casey Hudson wants to hear fan's ideas on a new mass effect game

So.. What.. EVE single player? Oh boy I get to chat dynamically with my crew while I mine, and courier for people, and play with space fish.
Unless all this talk about galatic peace and stability all of a sudden changes into bloodshed like I just Wololo'd your Chivaliers. Or like, HEY Those other guys? The Reapers? Yeah we are the EXTRA Reapers, way worse, we don't put the seat down.
Then again.. A Mass Effect game where it's just pure freedom and exploration, and not galatic struggle but more personal, that sounds nice. Like EVE. Choose your path.

I would like to see what is actually after their supposed ending. Which one is their canon. If it is destroy ending then killing geth and EDI was just a very strange thing to do.SpeshMeh wrote...
I would like a new sequel to cover how people managed to survive the Reaper invasion. I quite liked some of the background conversations in mass effect 3 like the traumatised asarii in the hospital or the soldiers radio conversation with a doomed civilian just before Shepard's mission brief with Anderson on Earth. They fleshed out the story of the horror and tragedies that befell people at the hands of the reapers.

Although I would always choose the Destroy ending when I played Mass Effect 3 I think to keep all the characters and races in play for a sequel I'd have to go with Control for a canon. You could say that after the reapers helped rebuild they were guided back out to dark space. It keeps the threat of the reapers in people's minds as well as the possibility for shepards return for those who want it. Also I did not like the synthesis endingkatamuro wrote...

Why was that strange? EDI and the Geth were a big part of the story of the original trilogy, but the Normandy won't play any role in future games from what we know so far (no Shepard 2.0, not a millitary figure) and of course there will be new enemies, so there is no real need for synthetics. Which BTW is the reason why there doesn't have to be a canon ending: for the next game it likely won't matter whether they are functional or not, because they don't have to play a role.katamuro wrote...

You can basically start the same from the control or the destroy ending (second requirement: the Reapers are gone), just the snythesis ending looks like a "what if" ending to me. To please synthetists: it is the "everything would've been so peaceful if just the people would've been ready for it" ending that it doesn't require a sequel...

I agree that the destroy ending is a viable option to use for a potential sequel and that the Normandy and EDI have played their part and stroll off into the sunset with joker (Or gone if you go with Destroy ending) , but i wouldn't go so far as to dismiss the Geth and synthetics in general.
I dont believe that the relationship between the Geth and the Quarians has been fully resolved. At best Shepard potentially manages a ceasefire for the sake of beating the reapers. With the reapers now gone whose to say some sections of the quarian community still harbour ancient grievances and wish to dismantle the fragile co-existence that is in place. Same way i wouldn't expect the Salarians to be happy with the genophage free Krogan if you went down that route.
As for the reapers/synthetics could still be used as a third party watching the new story unfold, deciding whether they should act upon a galaxy still reeling from their previous actions. A control ending could turn Reaper Shep into a potential rival/antagonist that isnt out to destroy the galaxy but comes into conflict with the new character's intentions as to how to help the galaxy.
Destroy is a good way to go but i still would like to see the reapers under shepard as the absent threat, the warning to the galaxy of what shepard would be prepare to do if your new character fails.

I would love to see the main game be totally devoted to SP again, Then have a download for MP so it doesn't take anything away from SPPretty please.
Seconded.
Doubt it will ever happen though

if the new game is a prequel, fans probably will reject it because of the endings, & sequel would get the same treatment as prequel (maybe), so at this time, after ME3's controversy i urge BioWare/Casey Hudson to use only the universe of Mass Effect for the upcoming game, without linking it to the first trilogy.
p.s. i like the sequel and prequel idea
and sorry for my bad english

It would be nice, but EA is totally in control of BioWare and have made their stance on SP-only games quite clear.

It would be interesting to know what happens to Kaiden or Joker, Garrus or Tali, Miranda etc. Again, that could be done via side quests or cameos.
I would like to have a human as the main character again. I like the struggle for acceptance within the galaxy, along with the diversity of companions.
I dont care for MP - just keep a SP version and I am happy

I think he has too much love for ME, so much that he hijacked it and tried to make it something different
You see this all of the time in fanfictions and spin offs.
Fanfiction writers would add exotic elements into a story to make it more "exciting"
Sometimes it works, a lot of times it doesn't. Example. To me the KOTOR series is a good game, but there's really a lot things in it that screams "this is NOT Star Wars!" to me.
Just be thankful that we don't have ponies or vampires or furries in ME yet

2 pages back I suggested a future game where the theme would be a war between the Terminus Systems and the fleets in Citadel Space...Karimloo wrote...

ideas on new mass effect game... sell the rights to Bethesda, they know how to make a game series without blowing it.
*chokes*
no way mate - they make good games, i give you that, but they do not no real immersion IMHO (their games leave me as an outsider - even more so because they have no romance and no interaction with companions that feel like real people!)
*uses force choke and mind trick*: you will never blaspheme like that again!

I think that the next adventure in the mass effect francise could be something dealing with another character in the alliance and develop around him and maybe in the very end of the game you can take place in the Skyllian Blitz and fight along side a young Shepard, so in essance it would very well be like a prequel to the Mass Effect series. I just have a weird felling in my gut that even though BioWare has stated that the "trilogy is over" that they are going to do what a lot of other game developers are doing and create filler games such as a prequel or it takes place way in the future.
and double posting again
no!
prequels are almost always bad.

ps: "takes place way in the future" => yes please
