Solid Gunplay WITH Role Playing Game elements.
Some micromanagement of inventory, weapons, abilities.
Exploration like ME1 with a hybrid of ME1 & 2's vehicle.
More Armor options.
Ways to get money besides main/side quests.
Solid references to my play through of ME original trilogy.
Better Codex.
App integration not unlike the data pad app.
Massive pre order bonus.
Better AI.
More immersion.
Lens filter.
So far that's all I can come up with.

So when sugesting things for ME4 or whatever it will be called I woud have to look at the previous game and make examples.
Personaly I think the parts after Chronus station are the parts that needed/needs a brush up.
The priority earth London mission was very static and simply a horde mode with two missiles being fired. There were good parts in it but at the same time a lot was lacking or could have been done better or more meaningful. A lot of the alien forces are probably still defending their homeworlds, but it would have been nice to give them some more representation. And that turret event in the FOB, it could have been given an objective, maybe a survivor from the transport with critical intel that could save one of your warassets, with a few different possibilities given depending on what you managed to recruit. And ofcourse the possibility of failing them! If what you do makes a difference then it adds to the experience, a soldier was standing there, why was Shepard needed to man the gun if it was just a random attack of a few reaper trooper level grunts probing the defences. Totaly harmless. Adding action in all that running around and talkint? Good idea, but they could have made it interesting!
The EC did fix the catalyst conversation somewhat and that was one of my biggest problems with the ending, it simply didn't make sense. Now it, kind of does make some weird sense, least Shepard is showing some reluctance and distrust towards the Catalyst.
Because how can one trust a being that has been known to decieve people and spread corruption. AKA indoctrination.
I would love to see some slight modifications to the London mission based on future DLC's, to add more life to it. Adding those new warassets could add a new little side event in that mission, maybe fix the boring turret mission and make it more interesting! Maybe a few more aliens at the FoB.
Maybe some friendly troops moving in behind you to secure captured areas. Krogans, Turians, Asari, Geth. Their function would have been to stop Reaperforces from comming in and flanking you from behind.
The last thought was mostly eye candy to make the battlefield seem less dead and empty.
Personaly I would have loved to to have one or two "killable" allies who can hurt the enemies even if their weapons are of the most common and inexpenive sort, like Avengers and Predators. Never been done in ME though.
This is one of the things I did like in Quake 4, allies that could die in normal combat and the challenge of trying to keep them alive even if they were quite hopeless.
I would expect them to be holed up around covers most of the time though. And maybe a new set of them in each area you explore.
Perhaps have them rezable like in the Multiplayer where you can run up there and revive people, but with a timer like in Multiplayer, and they expire if you arn't fast enough, and they cost you medigel! Do you help those hopeless lvl 1 or lvl 5 Soldiers or whatever they are? or do you keep your medigel for when you need it?
There might be system issues with adding them though. The consoles are probably lacking in memory and processing power again :/
Dragon Age Origin had allies that you could bring in. It was a nice touch, it would be nice in a Mass Effect game aswell.
And:
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before in this thread but the radio chatter could change depending on the war assets you bring and your score.. Adding differen't nuances of black, dark and grimey. And also a feeling of actualy having accomplished something "good" when playing Diplomat, and securing supplies for the troops.

No! NO! A thousand times NO! No more idiotic cyber ninja crap!!!!!
Sorry.
You are of course entitled to your opinion, but Kai Leng was IMO such a horrible cliché god awful character, that I cringed each time I had to deal with him in ME3.
[/quote]
^ This. Kai Leng was the worst part of me3. That being said, I also cringed in me2 when I saw Kasumi do a matrix-style flip onto a dropship during her loyalty missions. This ninja stuff is ridiculous. Omniblades? sure. But swords? Really?

Thane too I saw him and went space ninja

Yeah thats my main thing, make it a story-driven RPG, not a linear shooter, which is the road the games seem to be rolling down. I could add a whole load more things, a long list, but as ME4 will start anew with Shepard as either dead, in demi-God mode or God knows what; its hard to make suggesions over something I know nothing about.
But if BioWare is so insistant on keeping their Destory, Control and Synthesis endings, then make then darn well matter in the next game! Don't just chicken out and make the game in alternative universe were Shepard defeated the Reapers with a magic spaceship and skipped off happily into the sunset with his/her LI, or where the Reapers don't even exist (I didn't play 3 games just for the Reapers to disappear in a puff of smoke, personally) I'm more interested to see what the galaxy is like after the three endings; then for ME4 to just simply start-anew.
P.S. also, no more space ninjas

You know, that might not be so bad! I'm not sure Zaeed would necessarily be needed for that, but that part of the Mass Effect universe is definitely something I'd like to see more of. I loved the mercenary groups in Mass Effect 2; the dark sides of the galaxy with rivalries and politics no less interesting, perhaps even more so, than those of the more official factions. The hangar bays on Illium, the warehouses on the Citadel, Omega, the areas where normal people do normal things; those are some of my favourite locations in the game.:happy:Legion153 wrote...
A new standalone game with Zaeed taking the lead! ^^

That way, while you pick the background you form an attachment to the characters choices and plights and identity. That way it wont be completely barebones and weird feeling as Shepard was in ME1 and started as a level 1 and already considered a heroic N7 operative.

I, think im one of those people who sugested monomolecular swords, thoguh I hadn't immagined them to look quite so medieval, but far more subtle and deadly at the same time. I must admit the current ME swords looks like medival samuraiswords not superstrong, razorsharp monomolecularswords made from a single molecularcrystal.
The thoguht was that it would be super hard and cut through anythign while being razorthin and offer minimal resistance making it a terrifying weapon, but also expensive and rare. It could probably be strengthened further by mass effect technology jsut like the silarisarmor but with a sustaitned field that strengthens it.
In medival steel and samiraiswords and highquality european swords(not the cheap common type that all the basic soldiers were given) was made by steel that got continuously folded and heated and exposed while hammered until it has a carbon composition of about 1%. it resulted in relatively strong and highquality carbonsteel. Multicrystaline structure. However in jetpropulsion engines today we got alloys grown out of one single crystal form that's very heat resistant and doesn't change size or shape until heated to the meltingpoint of the alloy.
The idea was that it woudl be made from a future development of such a material 150 years into the future where new metods are available for metalurgy and even other technologies to improve it's properties and performance.
Tbh, it woudl probably bypass shields sicne it isn't hittign the target like a gunshot and it would slash through most common armors with little effort and make it a lethal closerange and silent assasination tool.
It would be a great tool for stealty characters or in close quarters.
However it shoudl also be slightly prohibitively expensive so that everyone wont be carrying it. More of a specialst weapon for specialy trained infiltrators.

At this point, I'd have no interest in another Mass Effect game, I might later, but not now. Better to put something in between first that isn't Dragon Age. (Not knocking DA, but it's my understanding there's multiple teams at work here)

The main protagonist could be like Mal insofar that he/she could have a military background, possibly having been part of some major conflict, but left that life to become a mercenary. That angle gives you a lot of mission versatility: trading, piracy, smuggling, assassination, body guard, humanitarian. The idea of choice and morality can be much broader from a freelancer's perspective than a soldier's.
And instead of a big crew, you'd have seven or eight crew members that all serve multiple roles. The Normandy had what, 30, 40 crewmembers? Only a third of whom you knew by name and all of them specialists. Previous squadmates like Thane, Jack and Vega didn't do crap on the Normandy. Now you could have most squadmates providing multiple contributions: a young Salarian pilot who's also a sniper in combat; a Batarian soldier who's also your cook and electrician; an Asari commando who's the ship doctor; a Quarian engineer/mechanic ala Tali. Hell, throw in a Volus who negotiates prices, hacks computers, gathers intel, finds jobs, and trades for equipment [EDIT: I'm NOT suggesting the Volus be a squadmate, just a useful, versatile crewmember]... And as a side note about the crew, I'd love for one of the themes of the next game to be about the influence a leader can have on a crew. A heavily renegade Captain could make your squadmates more aggressive in conversation. If your crew is in a bar, are they starting a fight, or breaking one up? I was hoping to see this in ME3, with impressionable characters like Tali or Garrus put in situations where THEY had to make decisions where the outcome depended on how Shepard influenced them. Alas, it did not.
As for the ship, you could have fun a "hunk of junk" like the Millenium Falcon. They can have more character and personality. Throw in a buggy VI, have random parts falling off for comedic timing, or engines break down to shape the plot/mission objective. People insult it, and the player could have a variety of fun responses from violent reactions to piling on the insults. A ship like that is begging to be upgraded. Also, if you wanted to bring back vehicle exploration, I'd love for it to be in the space-combat direction. I don't know if anyone at Bioware ever played Freelancer, but I have long craved to see the space combat from that game integrated into Mass Effect.

So, I wouldn't say it's radical, but certainly we want to try new things and shift perspectives a little bit and give players the chance to see different aspects of the Mass Effect universe. We always used to say that Mass Effect was a universe with millions and millions of stories in it, and we were only telling a few with the trilogy. So, I think that's the spirit we're going into this with, the idea of what kind of stories can we tell and how caa we tell them in a way that fans will love?"
From this we can drive that ME4 is probably going to take place between the start of ME1 and the end of ME3.

Both sequels and prequels will be good. Aaryn Flynn did an interview with gameinformer (Australia). When asked "As you look to the future of Mass Effect, what's the philosophy for the series moving forward? Is it going to be an outgrowth of what came before or will you be taking a radical new direction?" he responded "I wouldn't say that it's a radical new direction. We know what we want to give the fans and I think we know what they want. When you switch engines and go to Frostbite, it opens up some opportunities for things. The team in Montreal is making a fresh take on things.

Imagine experiencing the First Contact War from the view of the Turians capturing Shanxi, or playing as a Krogan during the Rachni Wars, or as the Geth pushing the Quarians off Rannoch, More of an anthology game than a full fledged sequel.

The new games scope could go to a smaller scale, dealing with less major galaxy effecting crisis, like new disputes verging on the break of galactic war, or agents of a shadow organization working to destroy galactic government as it is.
Perhaps the Human Alliance has grown and after the heroic actions of Shepard has become a Alien Alliance to which all Mass Effect Technology using races are welcomed to join it's ranks in a new mission of patrolling and exploring the Milky Way Galaxy and beyond.
Maybe they could explore where the Reapers used to hangout at before they returned to the milky way Galaxy. Maybe the Reapers were reaping other Galaxies?
What about that Dark Matter stuff that the Quarians were investigating?
Maybe you're a budding young officer and just looking to raise through the ranks, be doing all kinds of missions eventually gaining some type of command putting together your own team of just doing bigger and harder missions that eventually uncover some greater plot.
Maybe Cerberus isn't completely gone and you're a new recruit looking to change their image (ok i know this one is almost totally impossible to do.)
Maybe depending on the Race you pick to start as the over all directive or primary goal/ending of the game changes.
New classes/Powers would be nice, as time goes forward i would think new tech would be discovered, as well as new ways to use biotics. I don't know if a complete classless system would be the right idea, but Shepard's classes seem like they were based on his Alliance Fleet training, i would think a non Alliance soldier or operative would have different kinds of classes and thus skills.

Here is my vision of Mass Effect 4 in a nut shell;
1. There must be a choice of gender and race for the next Mass Effect hero. Asari,
Human and Turian are the basic three. Quarian and Salarian are also simple
enough to add. Two voice actors, several voice filters and a race specific
dialogue here and there and "voila"! It would be interesting to see
which characters could be romanced depending on the gender and race we would have
chosen.
2. It would be fun to start (maybe on Omega) as "smugglers",
"space pirates" or "mercenaries" with an old spaceship that
is almost falling apart and a crew of loyal friends (and a few traitors?).
3. I would prefer, by far, a sequel. The hero could be called "Shepard"
again even if he/she would have absolutely nothing to do with "The old
Commander Shepard".
4. A galactic war could be brought back as the main plot. This time, chaos
would be brewing progressively among the races, mysteriously turning them
against each other for reasons that won’t always make sense. The hero will need
to uncover the truth behind this. (the Leviathans, maybe?)
5. It would be fun to have a Krogan "best buddy" (like Garus) in this
new trilogy. His name could me Mordin, son of Wrex and Bakara? I would
also love to see a rival Asari Ninja/assassin/pole-dancer that could be
"romanced" to the "good side" and become a squad mate if
proper dialogue options and sufficient Paragon/Renegade/Whatever points are
amassed. The return of a more mature Liara could also be interesting. She could
have decided to join the order of the Justicars or she could be a NPC shadow
broker that helps you with information and equipment/resources like in ME2.
6. The Quarians: Geth and Quarians would be seen together
often (body guards, councillors, engineers, spies) but not as servants. They
would have developed a form of cooperative harmonious existence. Without the
helmets, Quarians would speak normally like humans and Asari do. They would
wear their suits everywhere but now, they would only wear helmets when they
would find themselves in vacuum, hostile and toxic environments. When seen on
the citadel, their heads would be uncovered. They would have joined the Council
and have their own ambassador.
7. Turians: It would be nice to replace the Turian fighters
by something different. Frigates and Dreadnaughts would now launch squadrons of
Turian jet-propelled, highly manoeuvrable power armors with big guns and
shoulder mounted rocket launchers. It’s a no-brainer for me to imagine their
fleet growing back to their original glory.
8. Asari: After the Reaper war, every Asari will understand
the necessity of taking at least 10-20 years of their lives and devoted them to
learn martial arts. The Asari commandos will see their numbers rise
drastically. The Justicar order will rise from its ashes stronger than ever.
Dancers will be vicious in combat if provoked using monomolecular blades, small
arms and mixed martial arts. They live long lives… Their scares will be deep.
9. Humans: Cerberus will be rebuilt by their defectors. They
will change their name to Phoenix. They will try to bring back the “idea” behind
what Cerberus was supposed to be before the Illusive man’s power trip.
10. Finally, I see tension between the Salarians and the
Krogan. I see both races on the brink of war and their place among the council
seriously compromised or even relinquished. In fact, I think the Salarians
could have abandoned the council after the Reaper war. The Krogans will breed
and expand. I see them in violent conflicts fighting over two opposite
ideologies. Some Krogans will want to act as protectors and army of the council,
others will want to command and conquer the galaxy starting with the
annihilation of their ancestral rivals, the Turians and the Salarians.
TL;DNR version:
Choice of gender and race for the next Mass Effect hero. Good luck for his/her/its name. Main races in the galaxy and the galactic politics should have evolved [/b]after the reaper wars. A new galactic threat: Leviathan mind controlling the races against each other.
The Cerberus "idea" would still be alive. The Krogan will probably go out of control. The Salarians will turn their back on the council. The Quarian and Krogans would be members of the council, however, Krogans will be torn between the ideas of Galactic unity or conquest.

The installments should all be similarly paced and themed. Do not pull the rug under people.
Do not doom to obscurity the successful character dynamics of previous installments for the sake of newer players on the final installment. I'm looking at ME2 characters and dynamics we barely interacted with for the sake of introducing new characters in ME3 for new players, despite the fact that you had a loyal crew that survived a suicide mission with you.
