Regarding dwarves

When thinking of a dwarven character it is difficult to think of someone that isn't a warrior and/or a drunken slob. In most cases the dwarf is the comic relief or the token warrior not fit to lead but overly capable in battle.
Elves usually fall in the category quiet, loner archer (or warrior in Fenris' case) or the quick tongued flamboyant rogue.
The typical reason for this is their overly simplified and commonly utilized cultures.

I'm a big fan of the dwarves and although there was Varric of course in DA2, their role was of little signifigance in the overall game.
Like @Warden Wade wrote above there is still so much unknown about them. Kal Sharok is a thaig situated in Orlais which we know little about.
Would love to visit there and learn about the way they develloped while being in isolation for so long.
Getting back race choice would be great; would love to play as a dwarve in the next installment.
These are great pointsDwarves got relatively little exposure in DA2, IMO, and I'd love to see significant plot points surrounding them in DA3. And as you said, there is so much exploring to do. I'm really curious what the dwarves of Kal Sharok are like myself, particularly with their tense relationship to Orzammar (which is close to Orlais as well...). I'd love the chance to visit these lost thaigs as a dwarf as well!
Aye! And I'd really like to see dwarves thrive a little. Push back the Darkspawn and claim some thaigs! Well, I'll settle for just seeing more of the more in DA3 but one can always hope.

Off the record, that must be the best title on a thread I have ever seen! XD
But
anyhow... The dwarfs doesn't have mages so I guess they are not much
involved in the main plot of the civil war. It's probably too early to
say if they will play any major role or not, Id hope to see a pay off
for electing Bhelen king.
Thank you.
Well, think of their natural resistance to magic. Might make them a valuable asset against the mages plus they can swing axes with style! I just hope they can get involved to something, anything that would be plausible.

I personally have to agree with Marshalleck on this one. One gripe I have always withheld in conjunction to Fantasy based lore is the identification of other races such as dwarves and elves. They almost always play the same role in every story with varied, but small, changes to their cultural backgrounds.

I thought of this one too. While true, their roles are similar around many fictions and could use some airing. Varric was a decent change from this typical dogma surrounding the poor race.
But, culturally, I fear if they made dwarven culture too different from the other fictional dwarves, they might lose their racial identity. Same applies to the dwarven physique.
EDIT: in simpler terms. If they were to change the dwarves too much, they might cease to be the race I adore.

If they do not, he will consider it an offense to the Ancestors and storm Bioware HQ with his army of gorillas, battlebears, Brontos, Dwarves, Mages, and lyrium explosives.
Do not test his fury. This is the man responsible for leading the Wardens to victory during the Fifth Blight. This is the man who ascended to the throne of Orzammar during the succession crisis that Bhelen and Harrowmont were squabbling over.

If Bioware can deliver a dwarf that isn't a drunken fool or a crass lecher, fine. Otherwise leave them out. It gets old.
Fully agree. I'd like to see more Dwarves, but if any more of them are like Oghren, then noooooo! Why in every single fantasy game are dwarves stupid drunks or the laughing stock of the domain? Sigrun was okay and I really liked Varric. However, other than Varric, every other dwarf was sort of a crazy fool. Humans are always the most flexible and elves/dwarves are always stereotyped.
Female dwarves, yes let's have them! Just because they aren't your stereotypical phenotype doesn't mean they can't be lovable awesome characters! It's silly.... males can be all shapes and forms, but god forbid a short and stout female.

I've been dying for a good female dwarven character who can be one of your followers... hell maybe even a LI. Sigrun was a good start in this direction, but she could have had more depth and interesting interactions.hobbit_of_the_shire wrote...

Being able to play as a Dwarf again would be awesome, but I doubt that will happen. I think there is a higher chance that the PC will be human only and have a french accent than the PC having the ability to be multiple races.

FACT: Only DAO had a major dwarf presence.
FACT: Only one of those games is a fan favorite.
Draw your own conclusions.
