Now, I've discussed this briefly with Sylvius, and it turns out he's right. Giving the player foresight of events out of the PC's knowledge is harmful to the roleplaying of the game.

Personally, I have no problem with knowing things the PC doesn't. I feel it enrichens characters important to the narrative (Loghain and Irenicus for example.) So I propose this: ATE's. Something picked up from Final Fantasy 9.

I enjoy the FF games, I don't consider them RPGs, but that's for another thread. Still, they come up with pretty great things, and FFIX's ATEs is one of them. Basically, it gives us the OPTION to view events that are happening elsewhere.
So if ATE's were present in DA:O, we would have had the OPTION to see Loghain's retreat, and various other scenes.

What does this mean, then, for DA3? Well, it gives us a greater replay value, at least, for the ones who pick not to watch these events. And it also gives us ways to roleplay more effectivley, something which is vital to an RPG obviously.

For those that don't enjoy the FF games, please take your bias elsewhere. For all we know this could have come up somehwere else, it just poped into my head and I remembered FFIX.

or how about this?

as an inquisitor, you could have spies working for you.
once the spy gives you his report, we're shown the scene of the antagonists scheming from the spy's POV

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Meh, If they are going to take anything from FF9 I would rather it be the card minigame. I can distinguish between the things I know about the setting/events, and the things my character knows about the setting/events.

I do like Mr. Cobras suggestion, however.
