I found some Heartwood.  And upon returning to Vigil's Keep, A White Quest Arrow has appeared over Wade's head.  But everytime a talk to him he just says:

"...Forcing me, Me..., to come to this dreadful...keep..."

My quest log lists The Heart of the Forest, but it's still just saysing:

"Find a use for the heartwood.  Someone might be able to make something useful out of it."

And Talking with Herren only opens two options; Buy, or Leave.

Seems like a Dud?

A quest involving the heartwood should become available from Wade (only) after completing one of the main plot quests. (The confusing white plot arrow appears prematurely.)
