Everything. Forget DAII ever happened.

Mostly this.

Really my number one desire at this point is an iso-like tactical overhead camera.  I was really disappointed not only with its having been removed in DA2, but also how Laidlaw handled it.  I don't want a refined 3rd-person camera.  I want an overhead tactical camera. Tactical camera, tactical camera, tactical camera.  The very first screenshot I remember seeing of Dragon Age: Origins was the tactical camera view and I fell in love instantly.  I cannot abide by its not being present in the series.

Better Companions

Explain

Well most of the companions in DA2 all they did was whine and complain throughout the whole game.Anders wouldn't shut up about the Mages plight and Templar tyranny,Fenris wouldn't shut up about Magic and how Mages are bad and attract Demons,Bethany wouldn't shut up about being a mage...though i'm willing to give her a pass since she stops after joining the circle, but then again she turns pretty emo if she joins the Grey Wardens lol.Carver won't shut up about being overshadowed and is just a dick in general,Merril won't shut up about her damn clan and is just obsessed with the Eluvian half the time,Which could possibly lead to the death of her clan.I liked everyone else though except for Isabela I just didn't like her...Then with the Origins companions they have their problems and their times where they would complain about them, only thing is that they didn't B*%tch about them for every single waking moment of the game.Plus overall they were just better written.I want enjoyable characters like a Varric,a Zevran,a Sten or a Morrigan to return:happy:

Crossbows. I still maintain they should be a warrior-ranged specific weapon and have a skill tree attached to it that is unique to the regular archery tree.

I'm actually trying to think of something essential for me that DAO had but really it was just being able to play as different races.

I guess a more nuanced ending.  Something more complex than "pick mages or pick templars."  DAO had a multilayered ending.  Did I have Alistair or Loghaine with me?  Do I take or not take the Dark Ritual?  Did I get Alistair or Loghaine to perform the ritual for me?  And then whether or not Alistair or Morrigan are your LIs adds even more complexity on top  of that.  And then I could pick whether to kill the Darkspawn generals or not and my choices throughout the game determined what and how many allies I could summon.  Something like this again, please.

-More indepth dialogue choices that actually let you choose what kind of character you wanted to be. If you wanted to be an evil intelligent mastermind, you didn't have to chose generic "violent" answers that basically boiled down to "Ugh, me smash you face!"

-Characters we actually cared about. I hated everyone in DA2 except Varic, Bethany, and Aveline... but I liked all DA:O characters except Sten.

-Armor customization for companions

-Mods ... can't stress this enough. Mods give the game longevity and re-playability.

-More ending/story changing options. In DA:O you could choose who would be king/queen, what kind of army you would build, sacrifice yourself, or find some other way to save the world... so many things that changed the story. In DA2 you could side with the mages or the templars... that was it.

There are some things I liked more about DA:O than DA2, but not many.
  • Playable races... which we already have, yay!!! ^_^
  • Able to change armor on companions to whatever I want
  • Ability to cycle through my inventory for all my companions, not just the ones currently in my party
  • Genuinely "creepy" or scary moments; although very little in DA:O is truly scary, Hespeth's chant comes close. But sadly DA2 lacked this completely
That's about it. A great game, but one that (for me) isn't really replayable, due to length, silent character, and limited romance options.

I hated the camp and thought the various bases in Kirkwall were much better.

That's the trouble with "we."

True on using the word 'we' - but by putting down your opinion here, at least Bioware can get a feel for what the fans generally agree upon, and what they don't.

Personally I'd love to see the camp make a return.  I just loved the ambience of it - the music and the sound of the fire(s) crackling.  Made the Warden's mission seem that much more epic to me, not having a single place where s(he) could even stop to rest, but just having to set up camp on the road instead.  Many of my favorite moments from DA:O were at the camp.

All of that said, it was also great from a practical perspective.  Nothing more frustrating in DA2 than triggering a quest conversation with all of your party members at once, but having to go through about 24 loading screens just to have those 6 conversations.

Didn't see it skimming through the thread so...weapon sets.

And a purely aesthetic thing they could improve about then, perhaps have both of your equipped weapon sets displayed on your character, as in you have your sword equipped but your bow you can swap to doesn't just appear out of thin air.

Nothing. There was nothing, gameplay wise, about DA:O that needs to return in DA:I.

I would like them to bring back the character creator (released before the game).

And another vote for finishing moves... those were sorely missed in DA2. It'd be great to see those back.

There's no orgin stories at all.

There's a main camp that's completely unknown, and there are secondary camps which will be our keeps and whatever other keeps or fortresses that we take over in which we can interact with our companions and do things.

You can change and equip your companions armour and weapons, also you can enhance them.

The inventory system is getting an overhaul and the loot system will be vastly improved from what they were in DA2and possibly DAO.

First I will respond to the forum.

I am hoping a return to the "different origin story" so that when you replay the game you can chose a different path and feel like the game is entirely different. That is FANTASTIC thing about DA 0 that I missed a little in DA 2. (They made it interesting for me with Bethany Versus Carver but not as much...)

Can I start a controversial post here?

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed Dragon Age 2. I loved the characters and the stories and the abilities that came with it. The romances that were available to my male warden in DA2 that was limited to just Zevran in DA:0. The graphics were fantastic, the fighting style was really fun and faster paced. I'm on my 3rd play through of Dragon Age Origins right now, and I just finished dragon age 2 again and I find myself once again missing the speed of Dragon Age 2.

Dragon Age Origins was fantastic, but I also really liked DA 2. As others, there were complaints about Dragon Age 2 , but I have some for Dragon Age Origins.

I hope for a more nuanced conversation about the Dragon Age franchise than:

"Let's forget Dragon Age 2 ever happened."

If I had to forget DA 2 That means I'd have to give up Fenris and Aveline and fast attacks and and and! AND I won't accept that :)

Come on guys. :) It is a great story and I suspect more great things out of Bioware.

Full disclosure on my feelings

I already said there won't be any orgin stories and this has been confirmed multiple times so i'm surprised more people don't know about it.

The Origin stories were really great, but as Mike Laidlaw said we will leave those stories for Origins as its own special thing.

For Inquisition our reference point will be being the leader of this organisation.

We’ll open up with the events that cause this giant rift in the sky and show that the organisations and the groups of Dragon Age that would normally do something are completely incapable of responding, so there is a need to form this Inquisition.

There is a need for leader of the Inquisition and, for reasons we won’t mention, your character becomes that leader.

http://www.gamerzine...-talking.html/2

There won’t be different origins, but all races will have their own unique pros and cons that can affect both gameplay and story.

To be honest, I was fine with just humans but I know many others were extremely disappointed by the human only Dragon Age II.

http://www.forbes.co...tails-revealed/

Our orgin is the sole witness and survivor of the veil tear but the reasons for being their will probably differ based on our backgrounds that we get for our race class combination.

This is EXACTLY how I feel! :)
The camps atmosphere was just... special!

Perhaps they should make different kinds of "camps".
A ship when you travel by sea,
in the castle,
at the inn in a city,
or the classic camp by the road.

Make them more varied. Your party members in different spots doing different things, depending on time of the day.
Like old Wynne always asleep after 8PM, some members always stay inside the tents at desert camps during day, members friendly to Dog plays with him from time to time, sometimes everybody are sitting around the campfire telling stories (maybe except the Qunari).

Also, I want Sten back. He was somebody I hated initially, but really grew fond of afterwards.

Toolset, which means more and better mods, including content mods (player added content).

Have a Mac and Windows version out at the same time. Don't care about console, that's up to you Bio folks. :P

More ability to talk to companions at all times, not just in their "bases" when an arrow is over their heads. I don't even mind conversational opportunities being situational, but at least Awakening let me talk to my companions even when I was out with them. Don't people talk anywhere other than in their own homes?

Rogues being able to pickpocket and make traps.

No more conversation wheel: conversation options back to a few choices that are not constantly limited to three "moods" of angry, funny, and diplomatic. As if every time you speak to a companion or person there are only exactly three ways of speaking to them or responding to them.

Party camp. Or it can be my own house/mansion. I want a place where all the companions are gathered in one place at one time, again, so I can watch their faces as they all listen to a song... etc.

Playable "fifth" character. (Although the playable "fifth" of Origins was always and only your Mabari - though there were mods that let you change that. The cool thing is your Mabari in Origins could level up and was actually under your control. Oh yeah, and even had some interactions with you.)

More situations where not freaking everything has to end in combat. Even bring back the skills of Persuasion and Coercion and Diplomacy and whatever else, so our ability to resolve things through conversation is also an increasable skill. Also some situations can be resolved by rogues purely through stealth.

Yes yes yes, please let us equip companions again with their own armor pieces, not just "slabs" unique to them.

I would add multiple playable races, but that's already announced.

There's other things I could say, but I put them in the new features thread. New features I'd like to see are maybe mage schools focusing on summoning, or shapeshifting. And new classes.

BTW, one thing from DA 2 was absolutely, positively improved and should stay as good as it was: crafting. All I want is more options. But I said that in the other thread.

More than one, wildly different ending or ending scenario. Or at least some that don't feel like a coin toss.
A landsmeet-type-deal.
Intelligent, talking darkspawn.
Gray wardens.
Morrigan and her child.
The love interests from previous games.

Oh, and one more thing, a companion that is totally unusual, like Shale in Origins. (Or "Dog" the Mabari - for that matter.)

I.e. basically is not a human, elf, dwarf (or now Qunari) rogue, warrior, or mage.

Shale was more or less a warrior tank, but sort of had her own really cool and unique skill tree. She could throw boulders, create rock storms, etc. I'd love to see a companion like that return.
