Make A Real *Pause* Button!

I often do other things while I'm in a game. Eat, for example--I'll stop for half an hour so I can eat. But I leave the game open. In Bioware games, that's an erroneous half hour added to my play time.
I just want a real pause button that actually stops recorded game time. I realize this isn't important, but I think it's worth mentioning.

It helps me get a good idea of how long it's taking me to play the game. I never really noticed that Dragon Age and Mass Effect didn't have this feature, so there's probably an extra hour or two on my playtime.
It shouldn't be hard to add though. I wouldn't really care either way, but it's always nice to have stuff like this, if just for convenience's sake.

Yes please. Pause button on all platforms, including PC. This includes pausable dialogue. It is a real hassle to have to reload every single conversation because somebody walks in and wants to chat halfway through. Sure, you can always just wait until it's your turn to talk, but with more and more auto-dialogue, you might miss a lot.
This can sometimes actually happen, and afterwards I'm left clueless by what was just said.

On harder modes people use pause to manage tactics and such, which is still you playing the game, and IMO should be added to the play time. How is the game supposed to differentiate between you eating and planning a CCC during a fight?EntropicAngel wrote...

I know at least 50 of my 500 hours in Skyrim are a result of my passing out in my chair, waking up an hour or two later and crawling off to bed leaving my poor Nord staring at a wall battleaxe in hand for 8 hours straight. Maybe this is not such a bad idea.
I feel so honored to have you responding to a thread of mine. It's been so, so long since you acknowledged me!

Make it a different button than spacebar. Say, the Pause button:wizard:
I hope I didn't sound like a d there.

I think Bioware was trying to use the same pause system as Baldur's Gate. Pressing spacebar to pause as it's probably the easiest key to use (except maybe return). On many keyboards a "pause" button is just too awkward to either find or press.

That shouldn't be a problem, because this is only intended for use when you specifically want to pause the game timer. It's a special occaion button.

And not all keyboards even have a pause/break button. My laptop keyboard does not.Biotic_Warlock wrote...

Sure, people can rebind their keys. I always rebind my keys when I play a new game, resulting in every game I play having the same general controls. Do the majority of players even do that, or care about doing that?

Then make it a more familiar key.
Say, P. Really, they can use anything.
