It would be cool if your character would cross dress lol

Absolutely. AS a matter of fact, maybe around 40% of the population in Orlais should cross dress :o

Bioware is smart to incorporate sex into the game. Sex sells. More people are going to want it than those who insist it be toned down. Get with the program, boys and girls! :D

Everyone keeps saying this, but there are so many top-selling game series that don't do this that it doesn't seem to be true. I mean... just look at the list of top-selling franchises. I've marked the ones that actually have sex and titillation as a real element in the game series.

[Above 100 million units]
- Call of Duty
- Pokemon
- The Sims
- Wii Sports/Fit/etc.
- Tetris
- FIFA
- Super Mario
- The Sims* (arguable)
- Grand Theft Auto*
- Final Fantasy*
- Need for Speed*

Even if you pull out Wii Sports/Fit/etc., you've got double the number of series without sex than with sexual elements in them. Furthermore, adding a sexual element to these games would further detract from many of them, I think.

Sex might sell, but plenty of games sell better without it, IMO.

Hey....those games maybe does have some content to sell. Ye know. If ye don't have any content to sell, then ye will have to at least show the boobies.

I heard that works IRL too.

And please keep sex out of the places where it doesn't belong. Why on earth would you add "hot babe" to Flemeth's description? She's an old witch. wtf. Would you put Gandalf in panties? Nobody can take Gandalf in panties seriously, yet Flemeth is supposed to be "a hot babe" according to her designer. This is just out of place.

Oh this so much. Please no... just no..
Flemeth was fine in DAO.

One thing I enjoyed about DA:O over DA:2 was that I could get an outfit that had some sexiness to it. It wasn't all up to your neck but it also wasn't down to my bellybutton. It showed your attributes but in a good way. The one thing I do have to say about that though is that if I can have that option great, but don't make me have bones sticking out of the top half of my chest as they did in DA:O. Make that more realistic...collarbones fine, starvation look not so good.

This what I meant by "the camera leading the player's gaze and forcing him/her to objectify the character." This is sexual objectification.

That is separate from a character of either gender wearing sexy clothing because it is part of his/her personality.

However, the fact that only the female charcters in BW games dress sexily because of their "sexy" personalities is sexism.

Female characters should dress as practically as the males.

This means that brothel workers--both female AND MALE brothel workers--should dress like what they are, putting the goods on display, or at least a teasing glimpse of what you'll get if you take them upstairs.

I wouldn't mind nudity, unless it's strictly females with maybe a few round older dudes with beards who remind me of my dad. Then I will be looking like this: -_- All I ask is equal opportunity nudity, assuming there is any, and if there isn't then equal opportunity scantily-cladness. Women like to look at attractive bodies, too (as do gay dudes) and 42% or more is not a small percentage of gamers.

What's good for the gander is good for the goose, I always say. As long as we get some sugar, I don't mind if you do, too.

Wait, what exactly is that supposed to mean?  You'd rather the protagonist not be able to romance...when?  At all?  Same-sex?  How exactly are you supposed to have choices of love interests in an RPG without giving the protagonist the option to initiate romance?

I really do not think Bioware practice objectification. (Lol, is that a word) Here is why:
1)Take Miranda and Isabella are both called out for how they are dressed by other females in the game.
2)There looks fit their character. Miranda is a cocky woman who was genetically designed by her father, so basically he created what he thought was a perfect woman. Isabella is a cocky pirate

I really do not need nudity in a game, but I don't want PG scenes either.

I am going to bump this all because it summed up well what I would like to see in Dragon Age and hopefully future M rated games.
Plus I didn't shake my head in shame, so thank you.

When people raise that point I think they are mostly talking about armor.

What they are objecting to is the tired fantasy game staple where female characers wear highly sexed up versions of armor that show so much skin, that it is no longer armor at all. For example a female wearing armor shouldn't have vital areas like her chest (cleavage) or abdomen exposed, or her inner thighs for that matter. If a female character is wearing armor she should also look properly protected.

My view is that a "mature" game doesn't need to include overly-sexualized characters and objectification (particularly of the female characters) just because it's rated M. That's more the fare of a game designed with teenaged males in mind anyway, not adults. Maybe I'm in the minority in that regard, though. :(

Anyway, while some of the stuff that happened with Mass Effect made my blood boil, I think the Dragon Age team has done a good job. I have faith that they will try to find a balance that will hopefully make both camps happy. (And maybe also be sensitive to the fact that the female persuasion has been treated extremely poorly in video games for a long, long time - and futile as it may be, some of us would like to see that change.)

I think his problem is that Hawke could successfully flirt the moment they have their first official convo with a romanceable, and are not shot down due to the companion knowing next to nothing about them. The other is that you can do or say multiple things that would be against the companion's core beliefs, and still bag'em.(E.g Send Grace and co. to the circle, tranquilize Feynriel, and hunt bounties on some mages, all in opposition to Merrill/Ander's beliefs, and is rewarded no matter how douchey you are to them.)

This topic pops up dozens of times before the release of every Bioware game, and every Bioware game includes loads of fanservice. I'm seeing a cause and effect here.

If my character is gonna be getting into sword fights and getting fireballs hurled at her, wearing a dress is just plain retarded. Armour stops a knife a lot better then silk.

It's one of the reasons I was a bit irked with Isabela's outfit; her thighs were really exposed- you can easilly bleed to death if the main artery in your thigh is cut so it seemed stupid she had these great weak spots. But she is a Rogue, a shadow fighter. Still, maybe less flesh and more protection next time.

You can be sexy without flesh showing; many people don't understand this.

When that shot happened I felt embrassed for BioWare. It was really really juvenile and unneeded. Hell we see what Miranda looks like. It's not like the convesation she has with Shepard is about how her ass looks in her new catsuit. They're talking about how she's worried for her sister's safety.
