A LOT is riding on this with the fans.

Mass Effect's audience isn't the same as DA - ME fans include a lot of relatively new fans who's loyalty comes cheap, whereas the DA fanbase is made up more of core Bioware lovers obtained during the BG & KOTOR etc. days.

IMO DA:3 "bombing" would make the backlash to ME3's ending seem trivial, as it would be a bombing due to core fans turning their back on the company.

Put in comparison terms I'd say.....

DA:2 was like catching your missus kissing another bloke and with her hands down his pants.
ME:3 was like finding some texts between her and another bloke after the previous incident.
DA:3 being everything we don't want it to be would be like finding her in bed with 2 other blokes on all fours and ready for a roasting - time to move on.

DA:3 is all about the relationship between Bioware and it's fans, and you can only cheat or betray someone so much before their love and loyalty goes elsewhere.

With you on that mate, EA was almost enough for me to leave and I've been playing BW games since before I was old enough to care about who the product was produced by.  After Blizzard and their WoW destroying any hope for a warcraft 4 I no longer consume their products.

If the game will bomb, it will bomb. Not sure why anyone would like thinking about the worst case scenarios. There's no point in it.

Pfft, well hopefully Mac and Casey's stupidity won't infect the DA3 team since they are done in different branches. I'm still kinda shocked they managed to fail so epically with ME3.

It is kind of funny, the same thing was said by many people before the release of ME3; "Yes, DA2 was a failure but this game is developing by a different team".

One of the reasons why I'm not gonna preorder DA3 or buy it off the shelfs. Not again, Bioware. If DA3 is good though, you'll get approval points.

If it Bombs..well, my reaction will be no more BW.

There is just too much that went awry in DA2 I mean when you are told that your actions in DA and DAO will be carried over to DA2, and then beheaded characters return...That doesn't set well in a fans gut.

I still have DA and still replay it today. It is, and will continue to be, one of the greatest games I have ever played. DAO is a great addition. DA2 was a horrid disappointment. I actually never finished that game. I have since completed DA and DAO a total of 18 times.

Needless to say, I will not be preordering. Alas, I will be a player in waiting.

Thinking about worste case scenarios is what the people who survive do, ignorance is bliss until it blows up in your face.

Lol, that only works with things that actually matter, thinking and worrying over whether some game bombs or not is total waste of time and energy. There is so much more to life.

I see the word trust thrown around a lot on these forums. I'm have to admit I'm slightly miffed by it. What do you mean "Will I still trust Bioware"? Trust them with what? My life? My money? Looking after my pet?

As I've mentioned before, in the old days (back in the early 90's for example) when a game was released, we bought it and we played it and if we didn't much like it we didn't play it again. We didn't complain angrily over the forums (the internet wasn't invented then), we just... stopped playing. We also didn't have the freedom of choice or the opportunity that game developers give us now to give feedback or creative input. A lot of you seem to miss that you're onto a pretty good thing now - and yet you take it for granted and are still so very ungrateful.

There is nobody forcing any of you to part with your money and buy the game. You don't have to pre-order it. You don't have to play another Bioware/EA game again if you feel THAT strongly that they are somehow misplacing this "trust" you're putting in them. You could, on the other hand, wait. You could read some independent reviews, for example. And by independent I mean those not in official magazines that are generally paid by the developers to make the games look super. You could try having an open mind and not be so negative from the word "Go".

I'm not quite sure why you feel you have this right to put all your trust in a game developer anyway, quite honestly. They're a business first and foremost. Secondly, they can only do so much and they can only choose one path. Unfortunately that path might not suit you. If it doesn't you could be a baby and cry about it, or you could just accept that it's not quite for you and play something else.

They can't meet everyone's needs - as much as many of you seem to think they can or SHOULD.

They spend their time, hours and hours of it, creating something for you that you might enjoy. Yes, they do get paid, but they are also 1. Very skilled and 2. Under a hell of a lot of pressure from you guys to get it RIGHT first time around. They can only deliver so much and they make mistakes like anyone else. Try cutting them some slack.

Some people will be disappointed. Some people will be strangely happy. Not a thread that will really go very far.
