My beloved franchise is officially dead now. Been transitioning to full action game since RE4 but it's officially a full blown action game.

Looking past that I want it to be like older RE games, it's still not done very well at all. The controls are still bad, especially the cover mechanics. When you stack it up against other TPS games in the West, it's average. On the Chris campaign in the demo I get pegged in the face with a RPG because you have to press L1+X just to get in cover. I mean seriously. I have bullets zooming past my face and I'm running to cover. I need to be able to get in and out fast!

What is it with Japanese and ancient archaic mechanics? It still has QTEs. The QTE in the demo might be one of the most awkward QTE sequences I've seen in a game. You get in a cop car and it feels like an adventure game. You press over on the analog and he slowly looks for keys while zombies are on the car. It feels like Walking Dead the adventure game. I love WD but this is suppose to be an action game! No fluidity at all. It was so awkward watching Leon put the car in drive as I slowly pressed L1. What the heck?

It's sad to see. The one thing that could've separated it from the rest of the market isn't there. Not like we have a ton of survival-horror games these days. Heck, they could make it like Dead Space and I'd be happy. Action but still retain the amazing atmosphere(well, DS1/DS2).

RIP Resident Evil

RE:Remake on Gamecube is still the best RE game and nobody played it...:crying:

haha more or less how I felt after playing the demo. Its no longer a horror series thats for sure. Though to be fair I never found it scary to begin with and I never got into the series until 4 anyway.... Hey don't look at me I hate tank controls with a passion!!!!...
Anyway its just silly to have melee be more effective the shooting.. I could not take any of it seriously. This is a bargain bin if I ever buy it and thats only because I find it fun despite its flaws.

I probably wont get the game. But I was quite entertained watching Conan O'Brien play it the other day.Image IPB

I enjoyed the demo - I thought the Leon and Chris campaigns were well done, though I found myself a bit... lost during the Jake one.

I did love how Leon's campaign managed to recapture some of the eery atmosphere from the older titles, even if the melee attacks were a bit too uber and trivialized single encounters with zombies.

I'm gonna get it either way - the RE series has never been known for amazing controls and smooth gameplay, so as a RE vet I'm quite used to it.

Priceless as usual.

The last scary Resident Evil game for me was the third game. And after all this years im still pretty nervous while playing it...
Resident Evil IP become an action game at 4th and co-op action at 5th.

What is worse Dead Space is following the same road....

Horrors.. RPGs have turned into action games..tactical shooters (look what GR & R6 have become)...Stealth games...   Aren't we seeing a trend here ??  This is old news, but people that might not be on top of it need to be reminded.

What really declined gaming was the runaway development cost of games (thus the need to appeal to everybody) and publishers and store chains turning away from niche games.

Love Conan's run lol

Ehh I'm not liking it the camera in praticular was crappy and made me sick which hardly ever happens in a game to me. Just ugh.

But from what I've seen you either love it or hate it.

I've yet to try out the demo believe it or not. I'll post what I think after playing it, though a friend of mine did have the demo from Dragons Dogma from way before. And saw all but 2 minutes of Chris's scenario.

The demo is one of the worst games I've played in years. It's not even bad, it's shockingly bad. It doesn't just fail as an RE game, it fails as a shooter and as a game in general. There's not one part of that demo that isn't a shoddy mess. It's a half assed piece of crap and if that's the best Capcom can do then they will never see another penny from me.

If I'd just liked it I'd have bought it, I wasn't even looking to love it like previous RE games, like would do. But there is nothing there to like, shoddy clumsy controls, awkward camera, retarded enemy AI, terrible level design, mechanics that barely function, wrestling moves being more powerful than guns, choppy animations, Leon trying to talk a zombie out of biting someone, I could go on. The original RE functioned better than this turd does.

It feels like a giant "f*ck you, you'll buy anything with a brand name on it" from Capcom to gamers. On no level is this a AAA game, next to other 3rd person shooters it's an absolute joke and looks like it's a year or so away from release. The fact it's out in a few weeks is shocking.

Leon's campaign is the best of the three and that's pretty crap too. Chris's was shocking, Jack's abysmal. It's an absolutely sh*te game, that feels like a bad idea that they never even bothered to finish to a competent degree. It's an insult that Capcom expect people to pay £40 for it. I didn't even hate RE5 that much, but this? This is one of the worst game's I've played in a long, long time.

It is. I'm stil annoyed that the enemies bubble up when they die. One most disheartening part for me was Chris' campaign. It was a full on third person shooter military game with a massive troll thing similar to Res 4 and Res 5 just chucked in to make it look like Resident Evil.

The horror genre is close to extinction.

Leon's campaign was mediocre in my best mood, Chris campaign was ****e and just quit, did not touch Jake's campaign and deleted the demo.

Yip, it's that bad. I didn't actually think RE5 was a bad game, just a bad RE game. RE6 fails completely as a game. It's main problem is that it's now a pure shooter so it can't even use "But RE has always had clunky controls and been a bit quirky" as an excuse. It now gets measured against other third person shooters and it gets dumped on from a great height. I genuinely can't think of a shooter that plays that badly. It makes ME1's gameplay look epic and it doesn't have any of what ME had to fall back on. It doesn't even have any of what RE had.

@Naughty Bear: Consider yourself lucky, Jake's section was somehow worse than Chris's, hard to believe, but it is.

You could get through Leon and Chris's section because the enemies didn't really do much, they just stood and let you shoot them for the most part. They mutate into um...thing's and actually attack in Jake's section. I got stuck in a corridor with two of them, couldn't reload and couldn't get up off the ground. It was cheap, annoying and just not worth the time. Plus it was as awkward as Chris's section and darker than Leon's.

Clunky, cheap, dark and highly annoying.

for me, Jake's section was the best of the three, but that's not saying much. I found Chris's scenario to be far-and-away the worst thing I've ever played RE-wise, and I've played RE:ORC.

If I hadn't been playing as Chris Redfield, I'd never have guessed I was playing a RE game.
