Looking past that I want it to be like older RE games, it's still not done very well at all. The controls are still bad, especially the cover mechanics. When you stack it up against other TPS games in the West, it's average. On the Chris campaign in the demo I get pegged in the face with a RPG because you have to press L1+X just to get in cover. I mean seriously. I have bullets zooming past my face and I'm running to cover. I need to be able to get in and out fast!
What is it with Japanese and ancient archaic mechanics? It still has QTEs. The QTE in the demo might be one of the most awkward QTE sequences I've seen in a game. You get in a cop car and it feels like an adventure game. You press over on the analog and he slowly looks for keys while zombies are on the car. It feels like Walking Dead the adventure game. I love WD but this is suppose to be an action game! No fluidity at all. It was so awkward watching Leon put the car in drive as I slowly pressed L1. What the heck?
It's sad to see. The one thing that could've separated it from the rest of the market isn't there. Not like we have a ton of survival-horror games these days. Heck, they could make it like Dead Space and I'd be happy. Action but still retain the amazing atmosphere(well, DS1/DS2).
RIP Resident Evil
