LOL. Wow, I'm surprised some people are as negative about it as they are. I thought it was fun - especially Leon's and Chris's campaigns. I'm thinking about firing it up again for a second taste.

I'm definitely playing the full game on the hardest difficulty, though (which is what I do on all RE games anyway) - Leon's bit especially felt too easy thanks to his overpowered melee attacks. The only part where I felt any challenge was in that hallway when all the zombies come rushing through the windows. Hopefully it gets a bit more hectic later on in that campaign with larger groups of zombies and more dangerous enemies.

^Well d@mn, it's that bad? i didn't get to play the demo but judging from the comments it looks worser than RE5.

Yip, it's that bad. I didn't actually think RE5 was a bad game, just a bad RE game. RE6 fails completely as a game. It's main problem is that it's now a pure shooter so it can't even use "But RE has always had clunky controls and been a bit quirky" as an excuse. It now gets measured against other third person shooters and it gets dumped on from a great height. I genuinely can't think of a shooter that plays that badly. It makes ME1's gameplay look epic and it doesn't have any of what ME had to fall back on. It doesn't even have any of what RE had.

@Naughty Bear: Consider yourself lucky, Jake's section was somehow worse than Chris's, hard to believe, but it is.

When your kicking zombies in the head more than shooting them it cant even do the shooting properly.  Thats why its a Bargain bin buy if at all (more than I can say for 5) because I can see myself being amused by the melee.

^ That would be fine except the melee doesn't always work, you can be right beside a zombie and miss them completely, then there's times you can take several out with one roundhouse. You can miss a zombie on the ground while standing right over it and it's actually prompting you to press B.

@ Greengoron: Glad you're enjoying it, I'm utterly mystified how, but glad all the same. That corridor is alot easier I think if you switch to Leon's knife or that woman's shotgun.

I am one of the few people who hated Resident Evil 4. I hate what has happened to Resident Evil more than what has happened to Dragon Age. I loved the first 3 games, they are some of my fondest gaming memories.

Now the storyline is fubared. I was so happy when they announced Resident Evil 6 would have zombies again...but...argh what is this mess? 3 protagonists? 3 different types of enemies and gameplay styles?

Here's a thought: how about make a freakin survival horror game. Idiots.

All I had to do was watch Conan play the game for 2 seconds to know I would hate it.

@ Druss99, Korusus, & Naughty Bear - I can't believe i waited 3 years for this, i don't even think it's Gamefly worthy. It's no contest now, Hitman Absolution here i come.

Resident Evil games have always been cheesy(well not the remake of the first game) and RE6 is more of the same.

Anyway just got done with the Leon part of the demo. Plays a lot looser and faster than 4 and 5, mostly because of the fact that you can melee anyone, wherever, whenever. Picking off zombies that took five headshots to down with the gun started feeling slow, so I just ran in and kicked them to death. I assume the game will encourage more of a mix of gunplay/melee in levels that aren't the tutorial. New healing system is interesting (combine herbs in a realtime menu, then assign them to your quick-use slots so you can heal quickly on the go. Green gives you one pill to pop before needing to load another herb; double green is three; G + R is six).

Going to reserve any sort of real judgment until playing Chris and Jake's parts.

I have finished Chris' scenario, but have lost the desire to play the others at the moment. In terms of gameplay, the movement animations were choppy/jittery lacking fluidity especially when moving to or from cover, chugging herbs or reloading. The aiming reticle is ugly/atrocious making it very distracting while shooting. Though accuracy meant nothing with the aim assist (I swear there is auto aim).  The giant B.O.W battle is a rehash of El Gigante and Nidesu's, and firing at his weak spot makes you realize how terrible the shooting mechanics of the game is. The enemy mooks are also rehashes from RE4 & 5 in terms of design, A.I. behavior. The lack of any horror whatsoever makes me nostalgic for REmake, 0, Code Veronica, and Nemesis.

The only positive i can think of for now is that Piers' character design feels/looks like an homage to S.T.A.R.S. (It's probably the hair.)

My beloved franchise is officially dead now. Been transitioning to full action game since RE4 but it's officially a full blown action game.

RIP Resident Evil

You may want to keep an eye on the new project that Shinji Mikami, the original creator of the series, is working on.

Some sort of survival horror project using the id Tech 5 engine, reportedly.

What do you think hurts RE6 more, the fact that it's an action game rather than a horror game or the fact that the Mercanaries went from a fun little mini game to a full blown tacked on MP mode?

I expect this game to receive some terrible reviews on release. Any respectable game critic worth their salt will not give this game 9's or 10 out of 10, with the exception of IGN - it's just too hard for them to resist that siren call of sweet ad revenue money!

As for my opinion, the demo is sh*t. I don't have to have played the full game to know this will be a bad game, as the core game mechanics are just awful and the non-stop action is as boring as sin.

Just give it up Capcom, this series was over when Shinji Mikami left. I'd say just make another Megaman game but you'd probably just f*ck that up too since Keiji Inafune is gone as well.

@ The heirophant woah wait, there's a cover system?!

This is very poor 4 and 5 were tolerable but I don't want the same **** again. Dead Space as well has fallen as a horror, we're shooting Humans in that as well :(

Didn't you notice that Resident Evil 5 had one?  Chris needed it to hide from the majinji with guns.

Maybe I seem a tad harsh, but I don't think I'm wrong. If you are a fan I can see the enjoyment, but the way they chose to change is annoying and just feels silly.

Nothing you say is wrong, really - that's what you thought of the game, and that's simply the way it is.

I just can't believe that months later, they still haven't changed the game's embarrassing logo. :D

The only thing I liked from the demo was Leon's campaign and that's just because I thought it was so funny that I could run past half of it.

Each robot master level will be locked in disc DLC.
I'm actually glad they've turned their back on my beloved Megaman... They fire the creator and refuse to work with him on a new title even when he offered to consult for free.... They cancel every megaman project giving every fan the finger.  Well my response is good riddance to Capcom just like Bioware their not the company I used to know and love.

Yeah, there is definately auto-aim and it varies to wild degrees. Sometimes it moves the cross hairs for you, sometimes it moves them in the complete wrong direction. Then there's when you line the cross hair up and your lazer sight moves on its own within them, that's bizarre.

Did the animation make you feel like you were playing an online game with severe lag? At times it looked like Day-Z. Did anyone hold B to interact with their partner? Jesus, the arm movements. They look like they were animated using paper.

That fight is so badly designed that I couldn't even tell there was a weak spot. I also never felt in any danger at all.

@Naughty Bear: Yeah there's a cover system, three scenarios and not once could I make it work, I got into it a couple of times but any attempt to shoot removed me completely from cover unable to pop in and out. You don't need it anyway, most enemies can't hit you from point blank and don't even bother with you at all in the Chris section.

@Naughty99: That's actually brightened my mood, pity it's not RE but atleast it's something.

The fact that it's a really badly done half assed action game. Had they gone for the action route and got it right I could deal with that, I wouldn't be entirely happy but I could live with it and would buy the game because it's RE. This on the other hand has no redeeming features whatsoever and feels like they are genuinely taking the ******.

Have you noticed IGN have been promoting it shamelessly for the last couple of months? I could swear I saw a countdown clock on there last week, they have been doing articles on previous games to try and build nostalgia and I think there's an article on reasons to be excited about RE6. The least they are going to give it is a 7, I'd be very surprised at anything less. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it got a 9 or 10.

Oh well least I can look forward to Deadpool or Rainbow six provided they don't suck.
