A Mass Effect Trilogy Cinematic Role-Playthrough (HD) by NoJhor30 (Hurdrax)
Introduction
'Requiem Rise' is a playthrough with a slightly different approach. Focused on a cinematic premisse for better enjoyment of the videos, several features were included not only to increase viewing value but also to present my version of Shepard's saga.
Also of note, this playthrough is silent (without the actual player's commentary/narration), focused on a role-play approach (with a few written OOC moments used to explain or comment on something).
Main Features
- Post-processing, editing and additional special effects on several scenes and transitions to give them a more cinematic tonality;
- heavy editing of combat to make it into a fluid action sequence;
- additional scenes (made through modding) created to enrich certain open aspects of the various plots;
- additional party banter (written).
Additional Features
- Editing on dialogues (no wheel appears and no response delays to give it a continuous flow);
- several other dialogues with non-squad NPCs (written);
- new transition "scenes" to enrich the flow of the story;
- removal of "busy" footage (Load, Inventory, Squad etc.).

Trailer

Endurance in the face of horror. Unity through sacrifice. This is the tale of Alena Shepard.
Prologue - A Time for Heroes

Alena receives a new assignment: to serve on the SSV Normandy as Executive Officer, under the command of Captain David Anderson. Officially, the main objective of her mission is to assist Anderson on the Normandy’s first tour, testing its brand new Tantalus Drive Core. The truth, however, is much more delicate.
Chapter 1 - Be Vewy Vewy Quiet...

The real reason behind the so called shakedown run, the possibility of representing an entire race and an unexpected obstacle. As each surprise unfolds itself in front of Alena with the speed of a relay jump, she strengthens her resolve and steels herself for combat.
Chapter 2 - Smoke and Death

The mysterious geth appear to be behind the massacre of Eden Prime. To make matters worse, they’re being led by a turian Spectre, one of the best, no less: Saren Arterius. As Alena scrambles for answers and a way to stop Saren, her true nemesis is revealed, even if she doesn’t realize it.
Chapter 3 - Bad Start

Like a kid going to the principal's office, Alena has to present herself before the Citadel Council: they want answers. She has none, but she also has no fear of making them understand that one of their own is who they should be grounding, to say the least.
Chapter 4 - Walk, Talk, Shoot

Alena’s first visit to the pulsating center of the galaxy is nothing short of spectacular; for better and for worse. A quirky little quarian named Tali brings much needed evidence to incriminate the murderous Saren, but more importantly, two names become known: Conduit, Reaper...
Chapter 5 - Supply and Demand

Harkin was right about secrets, but it seems problems and the need for help also spread like herpes. With not even a full day of being humanity’s first Spectre, Alena is flooded with requests for assistance. The economics of heroism become apparent as Alena gets her crew ready to hunt for Saren.
Chapter 6 - Biotic Rage

Before investigating the first lead given by the Council on the whereabouts of Saren and - possibly - the nature of the Counduit, Alena goes head-to-head with her equals: biotics. As a Vanguard, she’s well prepared for their tricks, but their motives seem more than just misguided anger. Despair and loneliness abound.
Chapter 7 - Fade to Blue

Alena found a strange ally in Dr. Liara T'Soni: daughter of the enemy, Liara brings not so much as answers, but certainly some perspective to what's at stake in the search for the Conduit. Shepard starts to understand the meaning of the vision sprung by the beacon at Eden Prime. Foreboding doesn't quite cover it; the Normandy's crew, it seems, have their work cut for them.
Chapter 8 - MIA

Alena diverges the Normandy's attention to humanity's problems as she searches for missing alliance marines and a civilian privateer. There's more time to know the crew and try to bring them together to fight Saren and his geth army. Unity seems to be growing in the crew as Shepard wins hearts and minds. Other than that, good news seems to dwindle at FTL speed.
Chapter 9 - Bad News for Good People

Alena's second visit to the Citadel is riddled with pain and anguish, as she stumbles upon an old survivor of the Mindoir raid that changed Shepard's life so many years ago. Adding insult to injury, she has nothing but bad news for Admiral Kahoku and Garoth, both good men in their own respects. Swimming in a sea of sadness, Alena struggles to keep her head above water.
Chapter 10 - Moon-Addled

Alena brings the Normandy back to the cradle of humanity as they investigate an Alliance facility on Luna. It turns out that this homecoming trip wasn't exactly a happy one: Admiral Kahoku is missing, Joker is taking too many liberties and an organization named 'Cerberus' seems to be involved with everything that's sinister and ilegal in the galaxy. To top it off, they meet up with a rogue VI that seems to be too self-aware...
Chapter 11 - Three-Headed Growl

The knot seems to be tightening around Admiral Kahoku's neck as Alena rushes to planet Binthu to try and save him. Cerberus' name keeps popping up as Shepard and her squad find out they seem to be more than just an Alliance black-ops organization. Well funded and mysterious, Alena is barely aware of their true nature as she plows through their defenses in search of answers.
Chapter 12 - Lair of the Unseen

Admiral Kahoku's death will be avenged. Alena takes Kaidan and Ashley to the heart of Cerberus (at least they think it is) in order to visit justice upon them. However, circumstances are smudged in shades of gray. The hunter becomes the hunted as Shepard fights for her life, oblivious to the fact that the Normandy's about to be destroyed.
Chapter 13 - Close Encounters

Three is really a cabalistic number: three lies under three hundred bullets flying towards the three squad members trying to survive as the Normandy gets back on its feet. Alena is trying to make her way back to the Citadel for repairs and to provide her crew with a well deserved shore leave. Besides, Captain Anderson waits with bad news regarding Cerberus.
Chapter 14 - Shore Leave

Great news for the crew as Joker sets course for Widow: a twenty-four hours shore leave in the Citadel! Alena, however, still has some unfinished business with the diplomat Nassana Dantius and Captain Anderson. Shepard takes some time to talk to her crew while everybody is making plans of how to best spend what will probably be their last chance to rest.
Chapter 15 - Funhouse Mayhem

All the respect in the world can't prevent Alena of going head to head with Captain Anderson over how to deal with those Cerberus dogs. Despite the confrontation souring Shepard's plans to go on a date with Kaidan, she tries to keep a level headed attitude towards her crew. Problem is, they're not doing the same for others: Wrex is sure to be into some trouble for what he's done...
Chapter 16 - The Cold and The Crooked

Alena finally gets back on Saren's trail after the shore leave in the Citadel. Troubled by a nightmare, Shepard tries hard to concentrate and lead her crew as best she can; Captain Anderson's words are still resonating within her mind. Noveria is the next stop, where Liara discovers that none other than her mother - Matriarch Benezia - is on the scene. It seems she's at a place called Peak 15, an advanced Binary Helix lab.
Chapter 17 - Monkey Business

"When in Rome..." Alena turns the table on the crooked execs of Noveria while trying to gather information on the whereabouts of Matriarch Benezia, Saren's ally and Liara's mother, no less. She ends up meeting Lorik Qui'in, one of the few who doesn't seem to have a hidden angle in that icy labyrinth. Turns out that something happened at Peak 15 and by the testimony of a funny-named mechaninc, everybody who comes back from there do so a little quieter...
Chapter 18 - Aggressive Negotiations

A wise man said once that diplomacy is fine when it works. Alena and the others end up having to resort to violence to resolve the Anoleis' situation so they can finally get a garage pass to try and reach Peak 15. Shepard keeps throwing wrench after wrench in the plans of corrupt merchants and executives until she finally gets a hold of a mako to try and make it through the Aleutsk Valley. However, there's one last obstacle in her way: geth are loose in Noveria.
Chapter 19 - Cold Descent

Shepard starts her investigation of Peak 15 while fighting geth, krogan and a mysterious breed of arachnoid creatures. She has some suspicions as to what they really are, given her encounters with Cerberus, but she remains silent so as not to scare her squadmates. Turns out Peak 15 is in bad shape, but the local VI gives some good news: part of the staff is still alive in the lower level of Rift Station. Now, to find Matriarch Benezia and, hopefully, some answers.
Chapter 20 - Sins of the Mother

The deeper they go into the ice, the hotter Benezia's trail gets. Alena leads Garrus and Liara through Rift Station as they uncover a dark secret of the first magnitude: an ancient and extinct race is brought back to life to provide genetic material for a lethal biological weapon. However, the true purpose of the rebirth of the Rachni is beyond anything Shepard can imagine.
Chapter 21 - Sinful Purge

No time to waste as Shepard finally discovers what is really behind the research done at Peak 15. Liara has a chance to meet up with her mother, only to find out she is not entirely herself. The avalanche of important clues keeps coming when Alena unfolds another side of Saren's motivations, even if not his true purpose. As for the Rachni, well, everybody deserves a second chance.
Chapter 22 - Ordinary Thugs

Alena is called back to the Citadel by Captain Anderson and, on the way there, takes some time to clear things up in an unexpected love triangle. Shepard also takes time to do some equipment maintenance and talk with her crew, finding out a bit more about Ashley's past and Wrex's motivations. While on the Citadel, she finally patches things up with Anderson and gets a clue about the traitor Katrina Hawkes. Time to hunt some bandits.
Chapter 23 - Going Bandit (with commentary)

((In this chapter I respond to fellow YTer 54Cymru about doing commentary in the series. I take the opportunity to talk with a little bit more depth about Requiem Rise; some ME general discussions and I also thank everybody who has been helping with the project.))
Chapter 24 - Hippocratic Nightmare

The investigation on Katrina Hawkes doesn't seem to be bearing any fruits, so Alena decides to help Garrus with tracking down an old foe of the turian: Dr. Saleon. The journey to the MSV Fedele ends up being a success, despite Garrus' hesitation in letting the doctor live. Afterwards, Hackett have yet another urgent task for Shepard involving a hostage situation on planet Chohe. A mission where, this time, Shepard can't seem to live up to her reputation as a problem solver.
Chapter 25 - Stranded Pioneers

Alena brings the Normandy to Ontarom in search of Dr. Wayne, Katrina's brother. Even though she doesn't manage to find any concrete answers, Shepard ends up discovering that a Corporal Toombs is killing former alliance soldiers who now work for Cerberus (Dr. Wayne among them). With Toombs brought over for treatment and Wayne arrested, Alena diverges her attention back to Saren as she proceeds to Feros, only to find out that the colony is under attack from geth forces.
Chapter 26 - Keep It Secret, Keep It Safe

Girls' Night Out on Feros: Alena, Tali and Liara talk to Fai Dain (the leader of Zhu's Hope) and other colonists to try and get a grasp of the situation. They're suddenly interrupted by a geth attack: a constant threat in Feros these past weeks. What they're doing there is still unclear. To add to the mistery, everybody seems to be acting weird and always referring to Fai Dain for answers, who has none. Time for Shepard to dig a little deeper.
Chapter 27 - Gething with the Program

Alena and the girls are going deep into the bowels of Zhu's Hope to try and help solve several problems that are making life difficult in the settlement. Despite everybody's weird attitude, Shepard still wants to make life easier for those brave enough to live in the frontier. As for Fai Dan, whether he's working with Saren or some other shady business that is obviously going on behind the curtains, he'll have to answer to Alena soon enough.
Chapter 28 - Polish Corridor

Alena, Tali and Liara take the mako through the Skyway in search of survivors on their way to ExoGeni's HQ. They end up finding Juliana and Jeong, who reveal some more information about why they're in such remote world with such poor prospects for colonization. Shepard also finds that Juliana's daughter - Lizbeth - is trapped at the HQ. Despite her suspicion of the colonists being in bed with Saren, Shepard decides to push forward and try to find out what everyone is really hiding.
Chapter 29 - Old Growth

Shepard enters the ExoGeni's HQ with Liara and Tali only to be greeted - with a gunshot, no less - by none other than Lizbeth Baynham: Juliana's daughter. Turns out she reveals that the geth are probably after an indigenous life form called 'The Thorian'. Alena has no idea what this is up until finding the local VI, from whom Shepard learns that the people of Zhu's Hope are victims of a sick experiment related to the Thorian's capabilities of mind control. Still, they don't know why Saren and the geth are going to such trouble to get to it.
Chapter 30 - Tight Grip

After finding out about the Thorian, Shepard leads Tali and Liara deep into ExoGeni's wrecked facilities. Burnt bodies all over the place, much in the geth's style, give them pause, but they manage to find out several incriminating files on EG and finally bring down the geth dropship. As the blocking field fades, Joker alerts them that more geth are coming. Joined by Lizbeth, they all make it back to the hideout, where Alena proves her mettle not as a soldier, but as a diplomat.
Chapter 31 - Thornbush Nosedive

Alena rushes back to Zhu's Hope to find the Thorian and stop its influence over the colonists of Feros. A fierce battle with some strange humanoid creatures takes place as Shepard and the others try not to harm the crazed civilians who are being controlled by the mysterious organism and ordered to be hostile towards the three. When they get back to Zhu's Hope, Alena meets their leader - Fai Dan - who makes the ultimate sacrifice and gives justice to the word 'leader'.
