I like Blood Magic as a gameplay mechanic (i.e., using life force/blood to power spells). The problem is that the specialization carries very negative connotations according to the lore of the world. Being an apostate in DA 2 already requires a certain amount of suspension of disbelief, and being a blood mage even more so.
While I do think that Bioware could certainly improve how they incorporate the blood mage specialization into the story, I also think that players need to hold more realistic expectations of what Bioware can do with specializations affecting the story.
So how will the Mage/Blood Mage class be handled for the story?

If you aren't stupid about it, you should be fine from demons. I haven't seen anyone in-game that would make that distinction without being a blood mage themself though.
