Don't you gain a lvl everytime you lvl up a character? I mean unless they spent cash and received guns wouldn't a lvl 1 mean it's literally their 1st match? If so they should start on bronze unless they have a babysitter friend.

I think you are confusing character levels and N7 rating

Level 1 is fine on bronze and silver.

I kick 1's on Gold, Plat if they dont change characters.

what I hate is when joining a Gold lobby with a lvl 10-16 charachter and the lobby is full of lower N7's than I am (300's) and being told that if i want to play i need to have a lvl 20

I agree, as long as you use a character lvl.1 to play on bronze matches.

I played level 1 characters in gold all the time.

Sure, most of the time I'll get kicked, but in those game which I don't I still manage to get by good enough.

Sometimes I can even top the scores as a level 1 character although that's rarely. :D

No, but it exponentially increases the chance that they WILL be a liability. It is the equivalent of taking a Ford Focus to The Nürburgring against a Subaru WRX STi. Yes, if the Focus driver is incredibly skilled, he might be run a track time somewhat comparable to the Subaru. The dominant likelihood will be that the Focus will get blown away.

In a PUG you are already risking that, despite their N7 and/or Gear, the other players will be terrible. In Bronze or Silver, no problem. In Gold or Platinum, you are risking 1/4 of your squad being a waste of space. It is simply not worth it unless you know the person and KNOW they can take that level 1 Ford Focus and drive like Horst von Saurma

Yeah! Absolutely! I was talking to a friend of mine in Origin these days about kicking level 1 Characters with low N7 Rating... I don't like it, because I put myself in their places and I would feel very upset if I had been kicked out of a game. I was playing on Silver and someone tried to kick the new guy out of the match, THEN we kicked "someone" out of the match, and seriously, honestly, that guy really impressed me.

Sorry to shout but I just had to get that out.

I stopped promoting characters until the challenge a while back. Now i'm doing it a lot which means i'm often playing  Level 1 characters. So I drop my difficulty to bronze to compensate & look for a game. And what happens I get players i've never met before with N7's only in double figures wanting to kick me because i only have a level 1 character.

Has this happened to anyone else recently?

If you're reading this & you are tempted to kick a level 1 character check their N7 rank first (my N7 is somewhere in the 900's). It's no guarantee they are good but likelihood is a high ranked player is not going to struggle with a level 1 character because they have more experience & better weapons & equipment. I'm not the greatest gamer but i have taken level 1 characters into bronze missions with a team of characters at level 17-19 and N7's only in double figures & I came first in the end.

Besides all this how are new players supposed to get a game & get the experience they need if they keep getting kicked? I know this isn't a charity but you were all noobies with level 1 characters once.

Give level 1 characters a chance - they may surprise you.

Nicely stated!

Look - we were all level ones once.  If you cannot carry a level one (making the assumption that they put in zero effort) then YOU are the baddy.  Play the game to have fun.  Be gracious enough to give people a chance.  Even if they do suck, teach them how to do it right.

You might have more fun in the end and make some good friends.

But it's Bronze that we're talking about and that's plain ridiculous - the only slightly plausible explanation is that he was kicked for his N7 rating because a bunch of beginners didn't want a more experienced player turning up and leaving them nothing to do and hence not getting any experience. Other than that level 1 is fine on Bronze and Silver. I'm not good enough to try it on higher than that (I might give it a shot in a private game, I wouldn't try joining a Gold PUG with a L1 character though).

If I'm in a lobby with 2 other decent players, I don't mind carrying a low level character or low level N7 on Gold. More meat shield, more better.

If I'm PUGing and have no idea of the quality of other players, I'll not mind a level 1 character play as long as he/she has a good loadout to compensate for the lack of powers/abilities.

Seriously OP. Haha I strapped on some level IV consumables and went to town on solo/reaper/glacier with a human soldier wielding a Claymore as a level 1. I didn't extract or get to the third objective.. but I had fun getting to wave 5!

Yes, i played bronze when i was level 1, just do the same and leave gold lobby nice and clean, if you want to bring a lv 1, do it with your friend in a private lobby, or return to bronze.

If you cannot carry a level one (making the assumption that they put in zero effort) then YOU are the baddy.

- I don't care about being the bad guy, sometime someone has to assume that role so that the group has a better chance.
- I don't like to carry, and if you cannot carry your own weight you have nothing to do in my group.

Play the game to have fun.

Loosing = Less money = Less fun
Winning = More money = More Fun
Having a lv 1 = greater chance to loose = Greater chance to have a frustrating match
Kicking lv 1 chars = Raising chance to win = Less chance to have a frustrating match
Frustrating match = Not Fun.

That means

Kicking lv 1 chars = Less chance to have a frustrating match = Bigger chance of a fun match = more chance to Win = More money.

That is logic, that is not negotiable.

That is why i will always kick lv 1 char.

Be gracious enough to give people a chance.

Ha ha ha ha ha.... you think i play for charity ?
Keep on dreaming, i play for me not for other players, i won't risk a gold white run worth of 75k credits so that a lv 1 can gain experience, he return to bronze full point, he will be welcomed after he has taken a dozen level.

Even if the do suck, teach them.

If he do suck, he train in a lower difficulty, or he do not come in gold with a lv 1.

You might have more fun in the end and make some good friends.

I made friend with similar interest, i have fun with them when i play with them, i don't need to befriend potential deadwith that do not understand that respecting the team is to not come in gold with a lv 1.

If you're coming into a game I'm in, I'll be voting to kick you and your low level character regardless of your N7 rank if it's not a bronze match (which is the level they belong regardless of N7). My personal experience trumps your supposed skill at the game and my experience over dozens of times allowing this is that 100% of the time I didn't kick the low level character (level 1-5) I've sincerely regretted it. I'm sure you'll claim that you're the magical unicorn of a player who poops rainbows and sneezes out Jolly Ranchers while contributing to the match with your low level character but frankly I've never met anyone like that in a random match. Your N7 rank also doesn't affect this much as I've seen N72000+ act like complete idiots running around corners of the map and dying during hacking rounds while refusing to medigel. The profile's N7 ranking doesn't tell me if a super 1337 player is at the controller or if their little brother/sister/mother/boyfriend/pet chimpanzee is there. If you've got a mic and load up on quality consumables (all level 3s or higher in every slot) and ASK to sponge off of me, then I may extend you the same courtesy and not vote to kick.

I allow my friends to sponge levels off of me but not randoms. When I promote, I play a bronze match to level that character back up to 7-8ish and then a silver to get him into the early teens as a courtesy to my fellow players; I expect the same in return.

You said they were n7 in double digits. You said you had n7 of 900.

Did it occur to you that they wanted other newbies to play with? Not some guy blowing everything up with weapon Xs and gear 5s?

That maybe why you got kicked.  I used to try to kick n7 1000 guys when mine was 100 in bronze just so I could actually kill something.  But still unless its gold/ platinum level  being a level1s shouldnt be a reason to kick.  Try playing silver or hosting.

Please tell me what it says about me. You're jumping from one conclusion to another and that's not very smart behaviour.

Since you are asking so nicely... What it tells me is that you are clueless about how this game works. A level 1 with a harrier X will outperform 99% of all random players just by merit of having such a godlike weapon. As weapons are levelled up the importance of powers diminishes and as you increase difficulty the importance of health and shield diminishes (due to the shield gate mechanic). Hence at gold/platinum difficulty being a level 1 it not any big issue as long as you bring a big goddamn weapon to the table.

I don't think you know what "logic" means. Or "fun". But you seem to have "narrow minded" and "egocentric" pretty much nailed down. I guess thats a start?

Don't kick people on Bronze unless they are doing something stupid like griefing.
