I dont have capture device for pc though. I would love to try a video. I can take pics with my iphone though and post that. I have to figure out this controller and xpadder.... hope its not too hard to figure out.

I would ask someone here to record it but your challenge is for me to play it with pugs and I dont have a capture device on my pc.... I'll just take pics and post that. Also....can someone teach me how to upoad pics to this forum? I cant for the life of me figure out how to insert a pic in a post. I just took a pic of the controller I just bought to show my buddy here that I got it but....darn....just cant figure it out. Is it the BBCode button?

1. You don't need anything to make vids on a pc. Just download fraps.

This is awesome. Thanks! I just downloaded it. Not sure how to capture with it yet but I will try. I will try a few games tonight and hopefully this Fraps thing records it.

I've gone from playing exclusively on the PS3 to playing only on the PC. And all this talk of the PC version being harder is, as far as I can tell, nonsense. The only additional challenge I've found is that I had to get used to the keyboard and mouse. Which was pretty hard, since this is my first ever PC game. But that aside, there's no way Platinum on console is only Gold on PC, or Gold on console is Silver on the PC. No way. The enemy stats are the same, numbers are the same, AI is the same. All the same tactics work just as they did in PS3. The game may run slightly faster (not sure on this) but that's it.

If anything, the PC version is slightly easier, due to the fact I have much greater control of the camera (enabling me to continue running when on the PS3 I'd need to stop momentarily) and because of key binding. I've got a decent mouse and a Logitech G13 and between them have everything exactly where I want it.

Back on topic, the reason there are more runs is probably just a numbers game based on how many people actually have access to recording equipment etc. Every single member of the PC community has this in the form of fraps etc. But how many 360/PS3 users have an HD PVR etc?

Well, you certainly got some energetic responses.

LadyNemsis just put out a duo vid, she asked for help from someone, since she could not do it herself (otherwise it probably would have been a solo run, but that is just my guess).

I was the one that did the duo with her and posted the video Image IPB

I did not realize that, guess I wasn't paying attention to the ID of the poster (duh).  I saw all the hate that spewed because her times were "long," which I thought missed the whole point.  Anyway, good on ya.  Tasty popcorn.

Try your PS3 controller on PC, then say it is easier on PC. You are using Mouse Keyboard offcourse it would feel easier when the other 3 are also PC Gamers using Mouse Keyboard. The reason those console difficulties seem hard is because you are playing with PS3 gamers who are the worst at shooters and u yourself are playing with the PS3 controller which the worst controller for shooters, even the Wii controller is better.

You could ask why the xbox is owning most of the full group speedruns.

Almost every game I have played with the speedrun crew has been with a full group. I've done a few duos but it has been more like bat sent + drellguard not going for time.

@caineghis2500 Most of my friends from team Arelex have moved on to borderlands so I'm always looking for more people to play with. If you are looking for people to duo with hit me up.

@rymoulton ...yeah. I checked my buddy list yesterday and there were probably 3 people on ME3.... crazy.

I remember when Microsoft demoed doing cross platforming with XBox live, it was no contest.
kotaku.com/5593259/rumor-microsoft-killed-plans-for-pc-vs-xbox-360-online-play

The proposal, part of Microsoft's LIVE push, popped up "many many months ago", and would have allowed people playing games available on both PC and 360 - like Gears of War - to take each other on. Kind of like 2007 shooter Shadowrun, only people would actually play it.

Problems quickly arose in testing, however, when Microsoft found that even the best console gamers simply couldn't compete with the accuracy a mouse and keyboard afforded a PC player. "The console players got destroyed every time", Sood says. "So much so that it would be embarrassing to the XBOX team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative."

So this ^^^ is why :) along with better (and freer) recording options available to PC players.

Consoles are great but to have the full experience as a gamer, you have to have a PC.

I have an info graphic for this... kinda came up in a rant done by Squiiddish (Machinima YouTuber) against PC "****s" who bash consoles

Image IPB

Squiiddish ranted about two aspects, In-Game skill and Player skill. His point was that Player skill can be equal across any platform, that PC and Console players can be just as skilled. The In-Game skill would best be renamed "E-Spot skill", because it is the visual aspect that an outsider watching say a YouTube would see.

E-Sport skill in a Shooter (1st or 3rd) comes across as persuasion aiming, aim correction (recoil control), and quick turns. A mouse is far easier to use to create a higher visual appearance of doing this well.

For this graphic the shaded area is "Player Skill" and it is the shade of the gradient not the length that matters. A player on the Red-White end is just as "Skilled" as a player in the Yellow-White for E-Sport. The length is E-Sport, perceived skill.

So why are PC players rocking the time trials? Because they have more precise control over the important aspects of a shooter, aiming, turning, reactions. A thumb stick will cap out in what it can do before a mouse does.

Solo wise PC is definately easier. Little mistakes often made because of the A/X button, D-Pad and Auto Aim can truly eff up a solo or duo. Also there is just no way in hell for a console player to match the sensitivity of controls for PC.

I think another think you need to factor in is Team AreleX. Team AreleX is one of the most active groups of players I've ever seen and is made up 200 amazing players who could all be doing what you, Invaderone and Paladin do if we had to choose between doing that and public games. I know it's nothing special but myself and Navi clocked in a 14.30 Gold Glacier Duo on our first (and to date only) try. Just comes down to how many people participate in the playstyle.

As for the PC players beating your time, just remember my first paragraph, there are some things we simply can't match on PC, they may have tougher enemies to compensate but the enemies are dreadful anyways so even with a slight rebalance for PC it won't make much of a difference when compared to the positives of sprint-camera control and 180 degree turning. Plus it takes an extra 14 seconds or something for ME3 to load into the game for 360 and PS3 and the clock begins the second you leave lobby screen (meaning your true time is actually even quicker).

You're making some pretty big generalisations there.  I can guarantee that for about the first 10-15 hours the PS3 controller would have been a massive help to me.  I couldn't run around corners properly, couldn't get into cover when I wanted, couldn't fire powers without looking at the keyboard etc etc.  Nevermind be able to smash/nova-cancel whenever I felt like it!  Had I been using the PS3 controller I would have had none of those issues.  I concede the keyboard and mouse is the better control system, but it's not night and day.  For power-based classes the difference is pretty small IMHO.

In terms of other players, well yes that'll always alter difficulty.  But I played with some excellent players on PS3 regularly who I would say are just as 'good' at the game as anyone I've played with so far on PC.  I've also been trying some solo runs (originally so I wouldn't have to inflict my embarrassing lack of skill on others!) on PC and again don't find the difficulty to be any different in terms of gameplay or AI.

I don't see what is so bad about the PS3 controller.  I've been gaming on consoles for 20+ years and find it to be one of the best.  In fact it's the benchmark other controllers measure up to in my eyes.  It can play everything from King of Fighters to Mass Effect 3 with no problems, which isn't something that can be said of many controllers that I've encountered.

But all that aside, even if the controller was worse and the fellow players were worse, that doesn't really answer the OP's question.  Or justify your statement that the PC version is harder than either console version.  It's exactly the same as far as I can tell.  There are more of the Gold/Platinum solo runs on PC because there are far more players on that platform with access to recording equipment/software.  But have a look at some of the top console players' videos.  The OP and AreleX spring to mind.  You can see that the game is the same and that they possess skills that would see them do equally well on PC (once they had adjusted to the control set-up).

You don't have the game drop below 60 fps and it is easier to run in a direction while looking in that direction on PC

I agree with the ease of access as I cannot record and can easily solo plat and gold.

PC does have that running camera angle control over console though...

Mouse + keyboard rules. PC shooter players always will be better than console players because of better controls. Fact.

I was hilariously bad when tried to play shooter on PS. Console controller is just not suited for shooters.

But consoles will always be better than PC in fighting and probably football/sport games.

Hmmm.

I don't know if there were any mechanical differences in ME3 between console and PC (other than simple things like auto-aim), especially not major differences in speed that would make Gold seem like Silver.

In ME2 there supposedly was a minor buff to enemies for the PC port. Although the specifics of this were not revealed at all.

AHEM!!

I hate it when me and INVADERONE'S videos get compared to pc players videos. There is always some troll that's more than happy to reply with a platinum solo/duo of a pc team shattering our time.. WTF!?!?!?

In my opinion, the 2 can't compare. There is different mechanics, and different set of skills. I can go on and on about this....

My point is... Why are most (90%) of the awesome platinum solo/duos being owned by the pc community? The other (10%) like me, INVADERONE and very few others on console doing anything great.

Is there really a difference? Maybe Im just a noob complaining or maybe PC is easier.

Everyone's opinion is encouraged but I really wanna hear from ELITE PC PLAYERS...

a higher % of PC players can record games?

Havent done it yet. I downloaded xpadder and Fraps (I think I have to pay to use it though. I will find out in a a few hours once I get off of work). I also purchased the xbox 360 controller for Windows. I will do my best to do this tonight.... hopefully my computer can handle it all.

NOW the big problem is that on the pc I dont have almost anything unlocked so I will still have a huge disadvantage playing against other players I dont know on Gold who probably have many things unlocked. Still the question is wether the enemies are harder on pc than on console. I truly dont think they are but the other side of the challenge is to test that while using a 360 controller on the pc version of the game.... Guess we'll see but I still dont think that makes sense in saying that the enemy is harder buuuut I will still try it. From what I can tell the enemy is still the same difficulty accross the platforms.

hmmmm. Now that I think about it maybe in some cases the enemy may be weaker on pc from my buddy's video comparison of taking down an Atlas with a Typhoon X on xbox versus pc. The Xbox Atlas would not go down on one clip where as the PC atlas did with the same set up etc. I was there for that test by the way....and yeah....I wouldnt be surprised if by some chance the console enemy is tougher than pc but....who knows? I will still run my game on the pc with the controller as requested and see what he means.

Well....no. I think you missed a part there. I have not done a duo speed run and neither has Caineghis2500. We may begin to try but the point was that we have done duo's for example our Platinum duo and also Solo's and for whatever reason people have compared those to PC speed runs when the goal was never time but completion.

Caineghis2500 may begin doing speed run video's but until then it is weird/unfair to compare a duo that was not meant to be a speed run to a pc speed run. I had this happen to one of my vid's also. I had a Batarian Soldier solo versus Reapers on Glacier which I also used it as a tutorial and someone compared it to xcal's Kroguard solo. LOL. I was like huh? How is that a comparison? A real comparison would have been if it was defined as a speed run and if xcal was using the same character/map/enemy/difficulty. But oh well. I think people just dont understand the things they are looking at or read very well. Either way I guess I understand what Caineghis2500 is saying. I have no issues wiht the pc guys. I like the community and am looking forward to learning pc as well as console.

The higher percentage of PC players being able to easily record games is probably outweighed by the sheer numbers of console players.

My thoughts:
--PC players have more precise control; some of us have ridiculously responsive mice which can be customized to the size and shape of your hand, as well as gamepads with which to custom bind keys. Thus, greater control and comfort.
--PC players are... how do I say this... probably at least a little bit more anal/geeky on average. You have to be pretty clever, generally, to buy a good system that will run the games you want to run, and do it well (unless you just know a techie who can help you.) So it may be that a slightly higher percentage of us have brains like supercomputers (not me, but numerous PC players I know) and are a little more hardcore on average.

There are brilliant and not-so-brilliant players on all platforms; I just think the PC is more attractive to a higher percentage of the really brainy types who kick my ass and impress me when I play with them.
