Most of the time I run everything at high settings and it runs smooth. Then after playing for a while the fps drops in certain areas then goes back up. Is this because of my Video Card?(Some people have reported this as a memory leak.)

i have the same problem. for moments (3mins or so) the game runs pretty well but then the fps suddenly drops,i usually pause the game and in 5-8 secs everything goes back to normal . quite annoying when facing a lot of enemies.
maybe its caused by the toolset (this issue started after i installed it). idk, ill try downgrading the graphic drivers, and switching off the persistent gore.

I had that same problem once or twice (like during huge battles). It would last for a few seconds then go back to normal. It's annoying, but doesn't wreck my game; now, if I updated my graphic drivers, then the game *would* be wrecked, because I think the latest driver for my card breaks it rather than fixes it. Bah.

On the day that the OP posted his message, there was only one, single DA:O forum, and his complaint was never answered. The next day, a separate user to user Game Tech discussion forum was opened. This became Off Topic for the General Subjects forum. EA's site handles the official support, although their reputation is badly tarnished by past consistent failures to extend much real helpful assistance on any EA games.
Sometimes, other gamers in the Tech Forum do have useful answers.

after i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the toolset, upgrading and downgrading the graphic drivers without luck, i edited my char with the moph editor (toolset), export it, rename the single player folder and the fps problem is gone.... a weird solution

I have the same problem... it`s wierd. It will work perfectly fine for a while then get extremely laggy ( slowing down ) then go back to normal. Ive tried everything to get it to go away.. and no change at all. The patch latest patch didn`t help either. I know this is an old thread I just really want to find a solution.

I have no idea if this will help but the one time that this happened to me was when Oghren got stuck to a wall near a door in Kal'Hirol. The LED on my CPU lit up like it was reading a file or something and the game slowed down to a crawl. When I went back to pick him up a couple of minutes later, it went back to normal. I assumed that it was caused by the AI trying to look for a path in quick succession but I'm really not sure, to be honest.

Yeah, It also gets slow when one of my party members nags too far behind. They will sometimes get stuck on something or will just stand there even if there is a clear path.
