hi guys, im just after some people's oppinions here.
ive been waiting for the enhanced edition of BG to come out for a while now and today I started watching a lets play of the baldur's gate trilogy mod. The idea of all four games played as one, as well as the first two running in the BG2 engine seems like a more attractive option to me personally, but I get the feeling getting the trilogy set up is going to be a nightmare, especially after reading some of the topics in the tech support section. As im sure most of you have played both versions (original and trilogy) what would you recommend? I only ever played BG2 in the past, I came to the series late of course but really enjoyed it. I'm very tempted to just pick up the four in one box, install the widescreen mod and be playing it this weekend. It sounds like thats all the enhanced version is really doing anyway.
cheers.Image IPB

I have Trilogy. If you read the instructions and do what they say it can be very easy to install.

EE is most likely to be much better than the originals or BGT, however the latter do have advantages over their evil newborn sister. BGT allows easy carry through of characters (and you can have imoen as thief higher than level 7 then use shadow keeper to easily give her xp after duelling in spellhold asylum) also the originals have all the mods that exist compatible; most likely mods for EE will either take ages to update, or they will (in most cases) not be updated at all (due to their age and their makers forgetting about them).

Sure would like to see more NPCs when they remake Shadows of Amn... gay companion pl0x! :D

I would definitely opt for the EE over BGT. Theyre fixing a lot of bugs, adding new content and giving the game a facelift. They also said they're trying to make it easier for modders to mod the game so I can only expect positive things in terms of mods. Also they are fixing the multiplayer (I just hope they get rid of that damn lag). And seeing as they are using the BG2 engine for BG1 I expect a nice transition into BG2 and I think they said that themselves too.

EE looks much better to me. I especially like the new GUI and new npcs sound very interesting (Mark Meer "the Shepard" is doing voice over for one of them ;D).
