Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the balance change and listening to our concerns BEFORE making the change. It may not influence them but it is nice that you are soliciting feedback.

I literally laughed out loud; I was involved this morning in a discussion that now appears absurdly out of scale.

I really, really appreciate the preview, as well as the thoughtful and light touch the balance team seems to be taking lately. Thanks for the hard work.

Derp. Well, of course the nerf doesn't seem drastic, but it's still a nerf. I still think there's no need for it. At least not on Carnifex. People have whined more about Piranha, but mind you, it was still whining.

So long as we don't get another nerf either of those two weapons, in next months, I'm fine with that, otherwise it just appears to be a pretty hideous maneouvre:

1. Announce a nerf in near future
2. People freak out
3. Nerf preview is not all that bad
4. People are okay with it because it's not all that bad

Important! This is okay if it happens once. I'll hate to see it happen more than once.

Thanks Eric!

On the weight of the Carni, that should probably make it more likely for someone to have to consider using ULM on it, rather than automatically getting 200 CD, plus AP and EB.

Makes sense. The Carnifex weighing barely more than the phalanx confused me, as what was the point taking a phalanx (200% CD) when the carnifex did more damage and still gave me 200% CD?

I like these, they're thinking laterally rather than just turning down the damage and missing the point of the weapons.

I was expecting bigger nerfs, but these seem rather fair.Thank you for the update.

Same. Was expecting damage reductions and a considerable increase in the P's weight.

Hey wait, the Piranha very visibly has 8 chambers.  masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/N7_Piranha

Are you guys going to actually change how it looks?  Because it will just make our soldiers seem derpy if we're loading an 8 shot with 6 rounds.  Repeatedly.

Looks pretty reasonable. I was expecting a 5%-10% damage nerf but those changes seem to address the issue a lot better.

Hey everyone, just so you guys aren't left in the dark, here is what we're thinking of changing to the Carnifex and Piranha for next week's balance changes.

Piranha Shotgun
- Clip size decreased from 8 to 6

Carnifex Pistol
- Encumbrance increased from [1.0-0.5] to [1.2-0.7]

Well that kinda messes with my Phoenix Vanguard set-up, but it actually makes sense.
I just wish the other weapons mostly weren't useless to begin with apart from the GPS.

Learn to reload cancel I guess lol

I don't really use either of these weapons anyways. I'd like to see more variety but the better way to do this is to provide more GOOD options. Instead of nerfing some guns, make some others give competive edges.

A good example of this is the locust and graal buff. Rewarding headshots is great. (I'd like to see it on the argus!) making weapons unique in their functionality, rather than sheer damage numbers) is the correct way to do it

I could live with this, but I'm still not convinced the Carnifex should be touched.

Agree with this.

Leave the Piranha clip size as is. Just increase the weight a bit

I can live with that, but with my Paladin X, my Carnifex is officially 100% dead to me now.

Not as drastic as I feared, kinda expected the Carni's weight to be increased.

The Pihranha change doesn't make sense though, the weapon clearly has eight spaces for... bullets? clips? actually, nevermind, the pihranha's design never make sense to begin with.

Good changes overall, much better than the standard +/- 10% damage we usually get.

Ah, okay, so I guess everyone (me included) can take a deep breath now and relax again. I don't really care much about the piranha, but I love so Carnifex, so I was worried. But I guess a slight weight increase is okay, seeing as how awesome that gun is.

I would also like to say that I don't think it's such a good idea to announce changes (especially nerfs) to weapons in advance. I'm all for communication, but without really knowing what's going to happen to their favorite gun, people (as I said, me included) tend to get a little freaked out over it.
Announcing buffs on the other hand is better as it reassures those who are complaining about a weapon that you actually see the problem and do something about it. :)

Still do not want Carni nerf. It fit the design niche perfectly for a 200% CD caster pistol. Now it will either be replaced by Paladin with ULM (since if you have to use ULM, might as well go as heavy as you can) or by the Acolyte.

Reducing Clip Capacity is exactly what should be changed, I thought the same! You guys really know your job!

This is borderline Captain Picard-facepalm material

Reasonable nerfs. I was afraid these weapons were going to be nerfed badly (mostly Piranha) but I think these changes make sense. Maybe increase Piranha's reload time slightly along with the decreased clip ? Cuts the DPS by a lot but you can still pretty much kill anything that's not a boss that gets in your way.
Other than that, just increasing encumbrance for Carnifex makes useless if you have a reasonably leveled Paladin. Mine isn't, but still.

I think that is perfectly fair Eric. I appreciate the update as others have said and hope this will help keep the negativity to a minimum. Keep up the good work guys!

no matter how small the changes are, i still dont agree and dont think they are neccessary....the guns dont need to be touched...they arent overpowered & they dont outshine the other guns in the respective classes....hell, they arent even the best guns in those classes...but yet, they need to be nerfed cause they're popular? that's bs, BW...why are yall trying to dictate how we (players) play the game?...

also, yall are a bunch of sheep BSN...yall changed yall tune quick and fell right back in line...stand your ground when it's right...in this case, yall are right: the guns dont need to be touched....draw a line...first they nerfed a class (infils) cause it was popular; they then nerfed and continue to nerf guns cause they are popular; they've buffed enemies (geth/cerberus) cause they were getting picked a lot....when are yall gonna have enough of them trying to dictate how we play the game?
