but not like DA2, where you had 30 types of swords and 28 of them looked so ridiculous I would never equip them out of shame.
Seriously, the worst part of DA2 art direction were not the characters, or the environments. It was the weapons.

Yeah i'd like more weapons, but thread title made me think you wanted more weapons like Malcolm's Honour otherwise known as the Naked Lady staff.
actually, regarding Malcolm's Honour, i think it would be cool to see more weapons that were designed with art in mind as much as function like that. i loved how that staff was as beautiful and elegant as it was useful.
esecially since we may spend some time in Orlais, where the aestetic of things (including death and deception) seems to be highly valued, i think it gives them some great creative liscence to do so.
also, regarding sexy, let's keep finding more of those great weapons (as well as amor or jewlrey) that have super-sexy history attached to them via codex or dialogue explanation. which is especially cool in terms of rewards offered to the protaganist (remembering redcliffe and orzamar specifically from Origins), gifts (recalling both games, but DA2 had some great dialouge), or just deaply significant discovery (anyone thinking of Legacy?)
the thought put into the descriptons of these items was artful enough to be uber-sexy in and of itself.
i wouldn't be opposed to a crafting quest again, a la Haren and Wade. the fact that i could be an important part of creating unique and beautiful weaponry and armor made me appreciate it deaply. of course, if the armor and weaponry had actually looked as unique as was implied, that would have been even better. so there's opportunity for them to explore that futher.
also, bianca. need i say more? that was one sexy crossbow. someone needs to have a weapon like that again.

Why do I see this word sexy everywhere lol.
I was going to say that. It seems like an inordinate amount of thread titles on Page 1 of this forum have the word "Sex", "Sexy", or "Sexual" in them.

Please, please, please, don't make the two-handed weapons ridiculously large! This is not final fantasy, an elf can't lift a sword that is heavier than he is! And even less swing it around like its a plastic toy!

I'm totally in for more weapon variety, like you say. I love halberds.
But you may want to reconsider your thread title.
It's a semi-parody thread, but with a legitamate topic to discuss.

I would love to see flails but that would probably be quite difficult to animate
Me too! Especially since they were used by a Warden in the Calling, so it's not like they aren't heard of in Thedas. There was actually an old PS2 game I once played, and I'm sure that had something akin to a flail in it, which seemed decently animated to me. I'd also like to see another person (maybe another dwarf Silent Sister) using some 'double-clubs', which I can only assume are nunchucks.
But I'm really into branching out the weapons they have in DA. Some throwing daggers actually incorporated into gameplay and not just cutscenes. Spears, halberds, scimitars, chakrams, wind-and-fire wheels, sai, other things. Something other than the bog-standard weapons we always see.

Slender and deadly weapons look a lot cooler than attacking people with surfboards.
I thought the mechanic was decent with two handed weapons, they had a little heaviness to them. But I think it'd be great to see a mix of sword types, from the single sided slashing variety (katana, scimitar, etc.), to the fencing-types (saber, rapier) to the standard medieval types.
I could see the final fantasy type sword as an enchanted sword with unique animations showing the player being thrown about by the sword's swings.

That has to be the most under represented weapon class in fantasy based RPGs, considering they were actually the most common weapon both in classical antiquity and during the medieval era. In any region or era before firearms became common, polearms were more common than swords.
To be fair however this oversight isn't just limited to gaming, as it extends to movies as well. As an example in the movie Gladiator, the German 'barbarians' that the Romans are battling in the beginning are largely armed with swords. This is somewhat humorous, as German is derived from Gar (Spear) and Man. The Romans called them spear men, because they largely fought with spears.
Even today people are technically still fighting with spears. When you attach a bayonet to a rifle for use in hand to hand combat, you've just turned the rifle into an improvised spear.
