I am *begging* you, Bioware, please implement the OP's idea. It would be a godsend!

I've been thinking, and I thought of a potential snag.

The simplicity of the idea is that since they are obviously making a character creator for the new engine, they would simply need to use it to create your DA:O/DA:A/DA2 characters. Since the rest is basically text-based, very few resources would need to be created for this

BUT, if DA3 only allows human protagonists, then suddenly there's an aspect of the character creator that would need to be created just for this one purpose (Elves and Dwarves for your Warden import). It's possible they could re-use resources from DA:O, I'm sure. I'm not 100% aware of all the technical details, I admit. I don't THINK it would be that much more difficult, but again, I'm not positive.

Hopefully, it's a moot point. If we're allowed to make Elf or Dwarf PCs for DA3, then we're right back to the "no new resources need to be created" stance, and we're sitting on easy street. Obviously, that would be ideal.

Either way, I still think this needs to happen. It's still a relatively minor expenditure of resources, that I think would be worth it for MANY existing and new players.

Necro'ing my own thread ... tsk tsk

But I think in light of the "human protagonist only" aspect of DA3, it bears re-examining. Since the Character Creator for DA3 will not have the ability to create dwarves or elves, does that make the extra resources involved in making this suddenly more difficult, I wonder? And if so, is it prohibitively so?

Just wanted to say that this is a good idea and I support it. Here's to hoping Bioware listens or has already thought of something similar (I think they said they were looking into other ways of importing savegames or something like that. Don't quote me on this.)

I know the idea isn't new. I'm just one person in a long list of folks who have independently arrived at this conclusion, and I'm sure the folks at Bioware are aware of this as well.

It will probably come down to resources and time available. Let's hope they can squeeze this in.

I think even if re-creating the warden/Hawke's faces isn't going to be possible, specifying the gender/race/fate via this book idea would be a great help. Even if they have to appear with concealing headgear and the companions joke about the warden being the 'strong silent type' etc.

Please Bioware. Make a comment or something to let us know if this could really happen. Would make things so much easier!

If nothing else, I could stop pointlessly bumping this thread. :D

Isn't what ME2 genesis was all about? It was a nice idea in theory, but in reality every time I started a new game it wasted 15min of my life, and made me want to gouge my eyes out. Your idea looks like it would take atleast thrice as long. Think of the poor new players, who'll want to just play the game instead of spending half an hour in the charecter creator...

The OP's Idea, as i understand it, is a completly seperate program to DA3, so you would only need to do it when you wanted to.

I would love this by the way OP. To get around the problem of non human imports, maybe for dwarves and elves you could pick from a preset face and add hair and tatoos. I don't know how much people would enjoy it, but it might work?

Sounds like you're asking for something similar to the darkhorse comic thing done at the beginning of ME2.

I got it, but only used it once. For curiosity about Virmire survivors, of course.

I can go for it. Just as long as it can say the warden was a human female mage who romanced Leliana and then she left for Weishaupt (prime warden HQ, cant remember name), and ended the romance for distance purposes. As well as having Hawke as a female rogue who romanced Merrill and Sided witht he Templars to protect the citzens.

This a thousand times. I recently uploaded this save to the Nexus. I think it will be interesting to see how they look at this Warden in Dragon Age III. >.>

I suppose it would be the best possible character to have, lol, if he ends up alive somehow. He killed the archdemon, didn't do the ritual, and lived apparently if they don't address it properly. I'll go ahead and say it, flog me later: Maybe I should change his name to Norris?

This idea is needed, especially for console players like myself! Random bugs always occur (eg. epilogue always states Arlessa Isolde died when I saved both her and Connor, Velanna's Exile quest won't trigger, etc)

Unfortunately, they haven't even addressed the bugs in the imports from DAO to DA2 (like necro-Zevrans, Alistairs that don't mention their lovers, etc), which worry me if I am pulling in saves from there to DA3.

I'm not sure a "decision checklist" like this would account for those things (details too minute to matter to those new players who don't know who Alistair, Zevran, etc....is)

It should since they can build the save editor to specifically work with DA3's importing stuff. rather than try to force the imports to read old saves.

I like to think the idea still works, on the if, and this is probably a big if, we're allowed to customize the appearance of our multiplayer characters.

And I also support this wholeheartedly. The main reason I almost never did the ultimate sacrifice was the fact that I couldn't control what happened in Awakening if that happened.

Exactly correct. You don't HAVE to use this program. Especially if you're new, you can just select a pre-built import (just like in DA2).

Perhaps so. Although if the rumored multiplayer aspects allow for creation of non-humans, that may solve the problem, as well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

found what i saw its on forums - see DG's post (2nd down i think here:
