Love the idea. Iplayed both games on PC and still have all my saves, but I still would like to see this actually. Maybe adding a "randomize" button as well, for those who just want to play straight away, or just see how different things can play out?

This is a great idea! There weren't any problems with my transfer from Origins/Awakening to DA2, but this would be a lifesaver for those who had difficulties, and a great way for newbies to be introduced to the series.
It should definitely have the 'basic' and 'detailed' options you mention before Maclimes, because I'm sure some people will want to get straight into DA3.
And Varric would be a perfect narrator, since he knows Hawke's story and claims to know the story of the Warden.
And I'm purely a console player by the way...
Go for it Bioware!

Thus far, the only dissenting voices (very, very few) have been people concerned that it may occupy too much of Bioware's resources (an argument I'm not even convinced has merit). The VAST majority of the community is in favor of this idea.
I've seen Bioware employees weigh in on far less important issues. That implies that their silence in this matter is calculated. But they rarely seem to shy away from definitive "No" answers in many topics. In fact, most of what we know is things that aren't in the game, not things that are.
I think that their silence is an implied "Yes" on this one, and they just don't want to mention it until it's ready. (Show, don't tell).
Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

I've thought about this and frankly, I am okay with any solution they come up with, as long as it is comprehensive.
My big problem with genesis is how much it omitted. Players using the genesis comics have incredibly limited options to choose from. Basically, when everything is announced and revealed, I am going to be looking for the most comprehensive method of importing my data.

From another thread:
This makes me hopeful. I'm curious to see what their solution is. I hope it's similar to my outlined suggestion, but so long as the import flags get corrected in some form or another, I'll be happy.
(Why that information had to appear in an unrelated thread, instead of in one that is about that exact topic, I don't know).

We have a solution to the garbage-in-garbage-out import issues. We'll talk about that at some point.
