Make him chase you while Morrigan fires some magic at him.

Get the Ogre to attack one guy and keep him up with HP potions. The Taunt skill helps, so does having everyone else attack the Ogre from behind.
If this does not work then simply equip your party with bows, then have the ogre chase whoever you are playing as, turning the fight into a demented game of tag.

I take it you mean the tower at Ostagar ?
Have the NPC mage use his paralyse and freeze spells as often as possible (careful - they don't always work on the ogre) and keep an eye on your character's health. Use a health poultice if they get to half or less since the ogre's grab and charge attacks do a lot of damage.

Yep.. and if paralyze is resisted... watch it here... human noble 2-handed... adapt it to your class =)
If he grabs a party member, use shield bash or pommel strike to make him release the victim still alive! Also, by the time you reach that fight, you char and Alistair should have a good development. I mean, don't waste skill pts on uselss atributes and make sure you pick some good talents too.
Don't forget to craft potions with the mage. You should have bought crafting materials with the storekeeper. It is the cheapest store in the whole game so buy as much as you can for the mage to craft you potions and also buy backpacks (2 available there) so you don't need to destroy items to make room for more...

Also try and keep your melee characters mobile and don't stay in front of the Ogre for very long, his move where he picks you up and punches you is pretty brutal. If you're a Rogue, use Dirty Fighting to stun him if he picks up a party member or starts going after the mage.
Edit: You can also use Alistair's Shield Bash when the Ogre picks someone up too.

I see paralyze resisting a LOT lately, actually since I patched the game. Anyone else noticed the difference?

Deathroot poison on a 2 weapon rogue was what won the fight for me. The stun rate was sufficient enough to interrupt most of the Ogre's big attacks.

If your characters just can't handle it (As mine couldn't, using a rogue on nightmare), You can kite it just easily. It's the only fight I've ever kited.

My rogue on NM got him good too! But again paralyze failed and he went after the poor mage... lol another run away session... (the only time paralyze worked for me was with my 2handed but then Alistair, who had watched still most of the fight, stole my kill and I replayed it for the movie capture!)
Oh, Sode, the "pick up and smash" move is the Grab I mentioned. Any talent like shield bash, pommel strike, dirty fighting and a few others, can interrupt it.

If you really can't beat him, let one of your ranged characters hide behind the barrels. The Ogre won't be able to attack him/her and you can safely kill him with your bow/staff/spells.
