I'm curious as to where Cullen fans being vocal. Most of the threads being made here are by people who dislike him. Most of Cullen fans don't constantly make threads gushing over him. It would be more like a case of haters being a little too vocal that make him more noticeable than he would otherwise be.

Every time you call these people out on their bizarre statements about supposedly rabid Cullen fans roaming the internet, they never respond. I, too, am curious as to where all these Twihard wannabe fans are. As it is, I only read about Cullen in two places: the Cullen thread, and the Cullen hate threads here in the BSN.

You know, I like numbers. Love them! So, you really intrigued me with that haters\\fans question and I wanted to run some numbers to see what is really going on. So, simply put word "Cullen" at the forum search and see what we can get.

Yes, and honestly, as I said in the Cullen thread, I am actually getting sick of the character myself. And I am a Cullen fan. But people who hate Cullen talk about him SO DAMN MUCH that I'm getting sick of him. People who hate Cullen talk more about Cullen than his own ****ing fans do in his own fcuking thread. It's ridiculous. I don't even know why it's making me so angry. Maybe because these jerks are killing my love for this character. And perhaps also because I don't like a small group of kind and welcoming people being branded as freaks and rabid fangirls just because they are female. Which is basically what is happening here, and everyone knows it.

True, and everyone will be fine either way. Everyone will have companions they love and companions that they don't either way.

Cullen fans and Cullen non-fans need to just get to a place (and preferably quickly) where they just let it be. The problem I see is that fans of Cullen don't make threads trying to convince others to like him, while DA fans who don't like him make (or resurrect) these topics over and over again in attempt to - what? Convince his fans to change their minds? Make them feel some kind of minority shame?

When you consistently put one group of people in the spotlight in order to remind them that their point of view is in the minority, I think that's dangerously close to bullying. When that group of people are constantly on the defensive, I think that's dangerously close to bullying.

And the sad thing is that it's just a game. It's designed to have facets that appeal to different people, and agreement isn't necessary to having a positive discussion. Even David Gaider has said that he was surprised at the fan response to Cullen, but you know what? We're having fun with it. And other than listing Cullen as a want in the various "What do you want for DA:I?" threads, and responding defensively or sarcastically to these kinds of shame threads, I haven't seen much intrusion by the Cullen fans that could be classified as Cullen-centric and annoying (and believe me, I watch for it).

So let them have their fun. Agree to disagree. Be a big kid. Enjoy slaughtering Cullen mercilessly in the next game if you're given the opportunity, and have fun with it. But don't be a jerk because someone likes something you don't like. It's sad and immature.

That said, I'd be fine with seeing this thread die... again.

I'm a girl gamer and I'm neutral on Cullen. Played both DA:O and DA2, and to me, he seemed like a pretty minor character. Popped up from time to time, then he was gone, so haven't developed any preference to him so I'm pretty much lost on the fandom with him.

Indeed, the better test of whether Cullen fans are flooding the rest of the fandom, as has been complained since DA3 was announced, is to look at DA3 forum and see how many Cullen threads have been started by fans. The stats look very different, a fact that has been mentioned several times by David Gaider.

Name, please. And I left in that category some that could be considered as "love" topics as well.

As any character discussion topic. You can count as such any "I love Cullen" thread - sure you will find haters there as well. It does not change the fact they were started by and for fans.

First of all, not all. Second, those "hate threads" are of the same age - really, run "search" for yourself.

Fals (do run Search!). Cullen IS the most demanded companion for DA3. (Morrigan can compete, I guess) There are reasons for that besides blind fans love, of course: he was in 2 games, was not a companion, deeply involved in the main conflict and did express some affection towards both Warden and Hawke. Plus there was a "leek" about some knight among companions and he can fill that role for sure. 

Yet, for many of those who knows and remembers him from DAO he was not significant enough to make it into companion list. And many did find him irritating to say the least.
If I start severall topics about my deep love to ... I do not know... antivan merchant? (Btw, that assasin employer in Denerim was hot!) And demand his addition to companions would not you wonder why? What can I posibly see in that merchant? This is why people keep asking questions about Cullen.

Should he stay in DAO or have as many chances to make it to DA3 as, let's say, Gamlen - nobody would care. But to know that one of the precious comapnion spot (not to mention LI) _can_ be occupied by someone you do not count as worthy, because there are clear reasons for that ....  Plus there is an impression (this is ONLY the impression but strong one!) that inclusion happend because fans of that "unworthy" demanded so...  It can make someone upset.  

The good (bad?) thing is - companions are set, as we all know. Nothing will change that. Thought, there is always a DLC. Hell, even I would buy DLC with Cullen as a mane character in it.

Interesting numbers. In ONE year there have been 22 Cullen threads created. Thats a staggering 2 a month. 8 have been locked. 5 created by fans. So there's that.

Edit: 12 in this forum. 8 locked. 2 of those were created by fans. 

Yeah you guys get TRAMPLED by the Cullen fans. Poor Sods, it must be horrible.

Some of those "neutral" threads are pretty debatable.

Might I note that these anti-Cullen threads are a huge waste of time and energy? We're pretty late into the development cycle if they intend to show a trailer or some other materials in June. In other words, he's either going to be in the game or he's not, and campaigning to exclude him at this stage either way is basically pointless.

For all the people who say Cullen's role was too minor to be included as a companion, remember that one pirate girl who got remembered for giving the Warden a foursome or threesome then go on and become one of the leads in the comic series and an important companion in DA2? I don't mind about all the hate threads at this point, but if the writers find him interesting to be included, he will. Gaider wouldn't just include someone because the fans demanded it. He stated it so many times already.
