For all the people who say Cullen's role was too minor to be included as a companion, remember that one pirate girl who got remembered for giving the Warden a foursome or threesome then go on and become one of the leads in the comic series and an important companion in DA2? I don't mind about all the hate threads at this point, but if the writers find him interesting to be included, he will. Gaider wouldn't just include someone because the fans demanded it. He stated it so many times already.

Yeah or does anyone remember that Dalish origin temporary companion... Merrill who???

And yes he's a minor sidecharacter in Origins (even less if you haven't played as mage) but cmon... In DA2 he was a notable NPC there. You interact with him in all three chapters, he gives you (and is involved in) several sidequests and is one of the few NPCs you interact with that doesn't end up dead by the end of the game. You can't get through DA2 without noticing him.

I really don't give a damn about Cullen at the moment, but I really didn't give a damn about Isabela in DA:O either and then she became one of my favourites when they fleshed her out, so I say...why not.

I think I'd rather have some new guy/gal fill his place but it wouldn't bother me.

It seems there is quite a few who likes Cullen and Anders both.

Perhaps it's me who's odd, but I could care less about Cullen and I dislike Anders with a vengeance.I sincerely hope I have seen the last of those two. I'd rather they made some new companions/npcs.

It's not difficult for NPCs to make themselves endearing. Shy or polite expressions of interest to the PC, as from Cullen, Gorim and Teagan, followed by the belief that it's 'Never to be!' for one reason or another is practically all it takes to spawn mini fandoms.

Ignoring the DA:O epilogues, I rather liked Cullen's character in DA2. I thought he was pretty well-written and was pleasantly surprised that Bioware hadn't turned him into a mage-hating psychopath after what he went through in DA:O. I'm not in the fangirl boat though.

Annnddd, basically at this point, we have no idea abt any other characters that Might be in the next game. (edit: except for Morrigan from what I hear...?)

Cullen is the only one that we Think Maybe Might have a Chance to be in DA3. I can't wait until they announce other characters so you all will have something else to talk abt.

Besides, the Cullen fans talk abt alot more stuff than just Cullen in the Cullen thread. (edit: altho we do try and keep it "on-topic".)

Ppl are just trying to have sum fun. Isn't that the point?

There needs to be conflict, of course. Dramaz and all that. I just hope whatever issues he may have--cuz everybody's got issues--won't be the primary focus of his character.

I really like Cullen, but couldn't stand Anders.

So I completely understand where people are getting at when they say they're passionately against having him return in another game, since they didn't enjoy his character the first time around. I'd be irritated to see more Anders, or more Merrill. But being jerks to those fans just because they disagree with me (which isn't something you seem to be guilty of, but it's been happening a lot lately in general) would kind of lower me to bonafide jerk status.

Thankfully that's just a really loud and immature minority. Like and let like, I say.

I've had enuf of Anders, meself. DAO:A and DA2. That's alot of game for one npc. One reason why I like the idea of Cullen is cuz he hasn't been in so much game. Yet I think there's enuf material there to flesh out an interesting character for DA3.

edit: Just like Ogrhen. Liked him enuf, but that's enuf.

Also as I mentioned, being a bit more up to date. Checking the numbers: In ONE year there have been 22 Cullen threads created in any part of the DA forums. Thats a staggering 2 a month. 8 have been locked. 5 created by fans.

12 in this forum. 8 locked. 2 of those were created by fans.

By all means - go ahead, Just read those topics first (at least OP) to see what posters meant by their topic title.

The point is - there are more topics from fans than from haters. AND there are a lot of curious people trying to patch up their hadcanon with so many WTF moments Cullen is involved in. But they are not haters and have nothing against Cullen. It is not character's fault that templars are supposed to be blind in DA2. Yet, fans are protecting character while people are asking for explanation of the situation.

Both haters and fans are very loud. One person posting all over the board can make an impression there is a big group out there. Still, fact says fans are posting more often - that's it. How big is this fans group is a totally different question.

Frankly, I won't mind either way if he were integrated in any capacity into the next game, be it NPC along the way, full-fledged companion and partner-option or something else.

As long as, especially in the latter two cases, there's an option to murder-knife him, I'm cool. /trollface

I never really liked him alot but he has alot of possibility for development. he is having a personal crisis where he is being more leniant and sees the extremism from meredith and it is making him question it. also I am curious on how he will be an LI since he took vows. wasn't the wesley aveline thing a break in lore or something

oh please if I killed anders let hi and justice or vengeance stay gone. they made anders into a horrible character in DA2 and that was more then enough. if I have to hear his constant whining and nothing else but whining in another game I will be pissed

Unfortunately that's not quite accurate. If there are 2 male companions and you fill one slot with someone who has 50 or so rabid fans on the BSN you've left the rest of us who only romance male LIs and really dislike Cullen with one choice.

I don't mind seeing Cullen's story continue but for Pete's sake don't make him be one of my 2 LI choices. If I dislike the other one I'd be a sad, sad gamer.
