Did you actually read any of the posts in this thread? Several people have posted valid, entirely non-superficial reasons for wanting the character in the game.

Ultimately, why should you even care? Does anybody say that Morrigan is popular only because she shows side-boob? Does anybody think that argument has merit?

I say again: the game will have male NPCs. The game will have female NPCs. Some portion of both groups will be attractive. It's just one of those things.

The character Cullen is extremely dry, one dimensional and overrated. He is popular because of the huge number of female fans he has. He is eye candy in templar armor, nothing more. Cullen is about as interesting as a cardboard box. It's laughable, because how often do women throw it in men's faces about how shallow we are because we place too much emphasis on how physically attractive someone is. Lol.

The VAST majority of female post I've seen asking or demanding Cullen be in DA3 say nothing about his character depth, his importance to the lore or story, or the richness of his dialog. It's always, "OMG, he is sooo cute and shy wen you first see him in da mage tower. mayke him a LI, blah blah blah..." followed by a number of happy faces and hearts. I'm not hating, just calling it how I see it, I've stepped in puddles that are less shallow then some posters on here who demand Cullen simply because he looks good. Cullen's perfect parallel is Diana Allers, except she wasn't as well recieved. (And Cullen's voice actor is LEAGUES better than Chobot...but then again who isn't better than her?) Exact same concept though.

I'm sorry but Cullen fan girls you just got...

Can we have another Amen on the body part?

Of course Cullen is in demand! He has a big fanbase already and it keeps growing every day now that DA3 has been announced.

Can't claim to speak for "Cullen fans" here because I wouldn't count myself one. But here's my opinion, take it as you will: when I say I'd like to see Cullen in future installments, I'm saying it because he has potential to evolve into a deep and interesting character, not because he already is one. And there are numerous other characters that I feel the same way about (Charade Amell springs to mind, and there are a bunch of others that sadly probably won't ever get the spotlight because the quests they appeared in could end in their deaths).

Here's what I know about Cullen: He is man who has seen how BOTH extreme sides of the mage/templar conflict end in an absolute nightmare. Victim in the first and a man who took a stand in the second.

It's not much. But it's relevant to the situation in Thedas at present, and certainly enough for an excellent starting point going into a new game. I mean, look at Isabela: Isabela in DA:O is simply "Quick-witted pirate duellist captain; hated her husband", and in DA2 she's a fully fleshed-out character who happens to be one of my favourites in the game. What matters is potential.

No.

Considering how extreme he can be on Mages, girls still love him and want him. Why is this?

Because he's good-looking, trying his best, and has a tragic past.

Of course people are gonna find him attractive, he's an attractive looking character. It's human nature. Would I still romance him if they hit him with the ugly stick? Absolutely, I like his character and I find his story so far interesting.

The thing I find the most interesting about Cullen besides his looks, is that not much is known about him. He's a giant mystery. No one knows anything about his past and what might become of him from everything that's he's gone through. That's why I want him as a companion. I want to find out more about him.

What's up with all the hate? is what we ask for more weird than asking for sex in a video game?

Hate is good. A well written character can evoke all sorts of emotions within people, which is another reason why he'd make a good companion.

Perfect parallel with Adders I don't think so. Hes been in both games or didn't you notice . What happened to him in DAO was enough to give anyone nightmares and to be strong enough to not succum to the demons and watch all his friends die in front of him. Thats just the tip of the iceberg. Just from that alone the Devs could make a hell of a character and that has nothing to do with looks or his VA.

Why? I'm not offended that someone has the inability to find a character interesting. Many people have posted lots of great reasons why Cullen would make a great companion and LI and many of them have nothing to do with his looks. If the comment or the "burn" gif's after it were meant to offend us or make us feel stupid, you've sadly mistaken this particular group of Cullen fans with obnoxious teenage girls. We really could care less who agrees with us and who doesn't.

Or am I channeling David Gaider? There's the real question.

Seriously though, I don't know if he's ever said that, but it seems pretty obvious to me.

Any templar companion would do, really. We haven`t had a proper templar in the party yet.
