Is there that much of a demand for Cullen?

Of course, we only saw DA:O!Cullen in situations of extreme stress, so for all I know his transition to his DA II self may actually make sense.

I'll take ten.
This!
We also have to remember that his background has a very high possibility for a great story to add to the DA franchise. He's seen the best and the worse of both sides. Having someone who's seen it all will certainly have a great twist on things. I'm looking forward to see what Bioware has installed for us! I'm just hoping it involves him....alot!

Cullen to me is an interesting character because of his potential mixed with his experiences so far. We've seen his as the fanatic (mainly due to PTSD), we've also seen him tempted by forbidden fruit when it comes to a female Mage, but there is also the fact that he, the fanatic of Origins becomes the voice of reason in Dragon Age II. He's been to both extremes and we have the potential of making him a relentless zealot or a moderator/what I think Templars really need to be. Strict, but compassionate.
As a guy I really have no interest in him as a LI, but speaking with my Cullen buddies I can see their excitement. He has the potential of being this tortured (not whiny) soul with just amount of angst to make him sexy (I suppose) but not enough to turn him into Anders or even Fenris. There is also the potential of him turning you down or even fighting his emotions due to his status as a templar.
Now before I end this I don't want to pretend like I talk for all the Cullen fans, but from what I've witnessed yes they want his body, but most of the time they say that for lols, but there is so much to what his character could be that it got even me excited about him.
D'awww, thanks Danny!
Anytime hun.

Good points, all. Moreover, he ends DA2 specifically having had to grapple with what he thinks the Order stands for, and has had to come to terms with the fact that Meredith is no longer following that path. So, he has to choose his own path at the end, providing "the voice of sanity." But now... the very Order to which he cleaved is in chaos itself, having split from the Chantry and ostensibly changed its mission and focus. What does he do now? Is he still a templar? What does it mean to be a templar now? Lots of good material for the next game. Of course, we could get some of this if he were an NPC, but I think we'd get to learn a lot more if he were a companion.

The character Cullen is extremely dry, one dimensional and overrated. He is popular because of the huge number of female fans he has. He is eye candy in templar armor, nothing more. Cullen is about as interesting as a cardboard box. It's laughable, because how often do women throw it in men's faces about how shallow we are because we place too much emphasis on how physically attractive someone is. Lol.
The VAST majority of female post I've seen asking or demanding Cullen be in DA3 say nothing about his character depth, his importance to the lore or story, or the richness of his dialog. It's always, "OMG, he is sooo cute and shy wen you first see him in da mage tower. mayke him a LI, blah blah blah..." followed by a number of happy faces and hearts. I'm not hating, just calling it how I see it, I've stepped in puddles that are less shallow then some posters on here who demand Cullen simply because he looks good. Cullen's perfect parallel is Diana Allers, except she wasn't as well recieved. (And Cullen's voice actor is LEAGUES better than Chobot...but then again who isn't better than her?) Exact same concept though.
Ooh you haven't been to his fan thread that much then. That's all we do is go into in depth conversations about his morals and character. Personally, he kind of reminds me a bit of Carth...He's alright to look at, sure, but it's his background and inner termoil that drags us gals/gents in.
And hey, lets face it, if Izzy didn't have that...uhm, rack, she wouldn't be very interesting either LOL.
She was a VERY minor npc in DAO, and she got a perty good role, I don't see why Cullen wouldn't be able to do the same.

We see some of the effects of his DA:O trauma in Act 1, when he talks about his torture and the whole "mages cannot be treated as people." He seems to show classic signs of PTSD, I'm told by folks more knowledgeable than I, demonstrating that his rehabilitation is probably still a work in progress.
edit for having lost my verb somewhere along the way...

From that rap, you wouldn't think the guy could actually sing. Surprisingly he has a very good singing voice.
