Is there that much of a demand for Cullen?

Also, his voice actor is awesome. I'd want Cullen in DA3 simply for Greg's voice acting in this:
omg, I'm reminded of this once more
why oh why did you do that? lol

I'm not sure how I missed that post and I would like to disagree with VampOrchid's opinion.

The character Cullen is extremely dry, one dimensional and overrated. He is popular because of the huge number of female fans he has.
Wait, an idealist having his dreams crushed and turns into a fanatic anti-mage after seeing the mages at their worst in Ferelden and becomes devoted to the Order, though soon learns the Order isn't much better and stands against his superiors after becoming disillusioned, leaving him at a crossroads of loyalty is dry and one dimensional?
He is eye candy in templar armor, nothing more. Cullen is about as interesting as a cardboard box. It's laughable, because how often do women throw it in men's faces about how shallow we are because we place too much emphasis on how physically attractive someone is. Lol.
I'm not interested at all in the character's romance, I'm interested in the character itself--the one which was built up in two games.
The VAST majority of female post I've seen asking or demanding Cullen be in DA3 say nothing about his character depth, his importance to the lore or story, or the richness of his dialog. It's always, "OMG, he is sooo cute and shy wen you first see him in da mage tower. mayke him a LI, blah blah blah..." followed by a number of happy faces and hearts.
These generic accusations can be applied to any of the character threads, it has nothing to do with Cullen's fanbase. I've joined conversations in every character thread about the characters themselves, Cullen's thread included.
I'm not hating, just calling it how I see it

That would be one hell of a plot twist for a Cullen companion in DA3, don't you think?

I'm not hating, just calling it how I see it, I've stepped in puddles that are less shallow then some posters on here who demand Cullen simply because he looks good. Cullen's perfect parallel is Diana Allers, except she wasn't as well recieved. (And Cullen's voice actor is LEAGUES better than Chobot...but then again who isn't better than her?) Exact same concept though.
Agree completely with the underlined (sadly), but can't agree with anything from the first paragraph. I really enjoy Cullen as a voice of reason in the game, especially since those with first-hand experience with torture at the hand of blood mages and abominations usually end up either crazy or radically "destroy-all-mages." Cullen was mistreated to the brink of insanity but survived it. I'd really enjoy having him as a companion in the next game, LI or no.

LOL that didn't happen, the Warden can try to seduce him in DA:O but he runs away, even though he fancied her.

It's only implied that Cullen was fighting against his lust towards FemMage, but I don't care anymore, because you have given me my new headcanon.

Sing it, Dave of Canada. Indeed, if you want to engage about the character in the character threads, then... you know, engage. A drive by is pretty hit or miss. At any given moment, it could be light banter or in depth controversy over whether or not Cullen knew Mer sent for the Right of Annulment (one we're still currently debating... btw).Dave of Canada wrote...

Agreed! The debates (and the civility with which they're conducted) are one of my favourite reasons for reading the Cullen thread.
Given what little we know of the plot of DA3, he seems like a logical companion to include. He's got a unique perspective of the chantry/mage conflict. He is, or was, a member of a faction that we haven't had the opportunity to explore thoroughly as players. We know that he should be well written and well acted. Character development ftw!
LI or not, I want to explore this character's story if possible. If he gets to help me save the world, all the better.

I want companions that DON'T remind me of my own character. How boring! I don't think any of my DA characters have romanced someone not unlike themselves. My City Elf doesn't believe in the Maker, and yet he romanced Leliana. My female Human Noble romanced Alistair, and she was almost completely different (confident, keen on being royalty, etc.). The most interesting relationship one of my characters has had with a companion, is my evil aggressive blood mage Hawke romancing Fenris, in spite of the fact that she embodies most everything he hates about mages.
Seriously, why would you WANT to romance Cullen? I mean, it's not like BioWare can't come up with another male heart-throb. One that ISN'T a templar shy around women he's attracted to.

Considering how extreme he can be on Mages, girls still love him and want him. Why is this?
I'm not a girl and Greg Ellis' voice doesn't do anything for me.
That being said. I like Cullen.
In DA:O he's kinda...totally... broken by the mage thing. He's an extremist who in the now retconned Annulment epilogue in Origins went on to be a cruel Knight Commander. This was perfectly within his character as we knew him in Origins.
When you meet him in DA2 he's still got that streak in him. He has a line of dialogue early on praising Meredith's ability to see the demon instead of the person in mages. He's still an extremist.
But living and working in Kirkwall for 8 years and seeing Meredith's abuse of power... he changes. And by the end of DA2 he's standing up to Meredith (twice if you support the Templars since he doesn't want to kill the surrendering mages).
He's seen the massive abuses of power that the mages and templars are capable of. He's gone from fresh faced Templar in the Mage Origin to huge anti-Mage guy to defending Mages and Hawke against the Templars.
That's a guy who has seen a lot and changed a lot for it. And I'm willing to bet he's looking for meaning. He's looking for a way to set things right. Power can be extremely dangerous and he now realizes that doesn't mean just magical power.
As far as companion characters go... that's an interesting past for a guy to have. And I'm looking forward to seeing where Cullen ends up as a character.
