This is bad.
But then again, Jess Merizan isn't the best of sources.

Yeah but I wouldn't be suprised if they end up doing this anyways.
The next game if a sequel will likely be placed hundreds of years in the future from the current story and synthesis will have occurred at that point like it or not cause it's the final evolution of life or whatever.

It's possible that synthesis of the current races would've occured already. But how would they change ALL LIFE in the galaxy? Because that's what happens in Synthesis. It's not just races we already know that get changed, all life, all animals, all plants on every planet in the galaxy incuding those that are still undiscovered are changed. That means whatever new race enters the space-faring era and contacts with already established races will already be synthesized. That means every planet we would visit in post-Synthesis world would have Synthesized fauna & flora.

In natural-synthesis scenario, what would be the point of transforming everything & everyone everywhere?

I don't think she meant "Crucible synthesis" will happen regardless of ending, but rather in X years after ME3, the races of the galaxy decide it would be nifty to start implanting themselves with tech that looks eerily similar to glowing green circuit boards. I hate synthesis for the galactic rape implication, not so much the idea that having implants is wrong.

Sure it makes the ending choices rather irrelevant, but its kinda is the only way to make a new game where any ending could have theoretically happened.

Has Bioware released the gaming stats for ME3? I'm curious which ending the majority of gamers went with.

What like we don't genetically engineer plants already? Might be trying to impoved food crops and you'll end up witha supercrop which outcompetes and displaces native vegitation. Not to mention it's a very nice retcon of people's decisions.

I'm talking about synthesis as a product of technological advancement of races compared to Synthesis caused by Crucible. The latter instantly changes EVERY LIVING THING in the galaxy, the former would never do that. That alone makes it impossible to make ME4 in which post-Destroy and post-Control world is railroaded into the same spot as post-Synthesis world. Even if synthesis occured due to technological progress in post-Destroy&Control worlds, it would never be on the level it is in post-Synthesis world.

But Crucible's Synthesis changes life on every single planet in the galaxy. Including those that are not discovered yet.

It would be just idiotic if somehow galaxy-scale synthesis occured due to technological progress. There's no point for organics to transform every single animal and every single plant on every single planet.

What like we don't genetically engineer plants already? Might be trying to impoved food crops and you'll end up witha supercrop which outcompetes and displaces native vegitation. Not to mention it's a very nice retcon of people's decisions.

I'm pretty sure synthesis is the combination of organic and inorganic compounds. That's very different from genetic engineering.

Why were we even given choices in the first place?

Synthesis as canon, huh?

Considering what's happened in the past year, it figures. If nothing else, it's a fitting whimper to go out with.

Just another reason to NOT preorder/buy at release.................if this becomes reality, goodbye bioware.

What a load of steaming ridiculous.

With reference to someones' interpretation of a food source, uh WHAT?!!

After being genetically raped, there won't be any reason to eat, no need to breed, etc.

As a final thought,.................you idiots left the Reapers ALIVE!!!

Has Bioware released the gaming stats for ME3? I'm curious which ending the majority of gamers went with.

Every poll posted on this site on the endings has had Destroy blowing out the competition.

I can't imagine that the stats Bioware collected on the game would be much different.

But Crucible's Synthesis changes life on every single planet in the galaxy. Including those that are not discovered yet.

It
would be just idiotic if somehow galaxy-scale synthesis occured due to
technological progress. There's no point for organics to transform every
single animal and every single plant on every single planet.

If it's done through progress, they'll test it on animals and plants before they use volunteer test subjects. Then there's the occasional mad scientists.

Joking aside though the plants and animals aren't the issue here, it's the idea that this concept you rejected before gets implemented anyway as a means of advancing the story in a way some people didn't want.

I'm pretty sure synthesis is the combination of organic and inorganic compounds. That's very different from genetic engineering.

It creates a new DNA using synthetics and organic components, messing with DNA is genetic manipulation no matter how you do it.

But it just can't get implemented. If they're thinking about it, they need to drop it ASAP. If they make Synthesis ending canon, then so be it. But having the same scale of synthesis in post-Destroy&Control world would be the most idiotic thing ever.

I know synthesis has it's supporters, but I don't see the appeal, other than to keep EDI alive.

I don't want to sit around with the toaster, dutch oven and potted plant, singing Kumbaya.

face it folks, organics did it to themselves, Even Shep got his DNA altered to regain life... If you read this, then, technically, you're doing it now..slower fur sure..but..

but hey, I like the two cats hissing and didn't know why anyone would post broken glass sound effects.

maybe they're already synthesised?!?

This is old news. We've known about this since the convention (not to mention that it's pretty clear synthesis has always been intended as the correct ending).

IsaacShep wrote...

Ohh now this looks like a 100% confirmation.

Except not.

You serious with these threads guys? With all due respect to Jessica, she said other things after ME3 release that didn't turn out true. Plus she said herself that she interprets things herself. So really

She wasn't giving an opinion on story details (of which she has had little knowledge in the past, leading to some of her silly claims).

She was discussing the team's preference for synthesis (not her own—she was specifically talking about the team) and what it would mean for the future of the franchise. That's not something open to speculation the same way as trying to interpret what was going on in the original ending, and these statements shouldn't be treated that way.

She said the team considers synthesis to be inevitable, and if any future game is set after the events of ME3, synthesis will have taken place.

Unless you're accusing her of lying, that's pretty clear.
