My name is Eidolion, and I'm an avid Dragon Age fan. I loved Origins, and I loved Dragon Age 2, and currently own them across both consoles and on PC, as many of you out there would agree, I've been pumped ever since I heard about Inquistion. I have a brief list of what I feel Dragon Age 3 needs to have to make it the best Dragon Age game. Now, I know some people would disagree, or will think we need to go right back to Origins, but I strongly believe each Dragon Age should be different in its own way as it's an evolving franchise. So, here's a brief list of thinsg I quickly thought of, I'll go through and add things as I go, and see what other people think!
1. Improved Character Customization
- What I mean is more facial features, more hair styles, more tattoos. We're in Orlais, it has a unique culture, let us show it in our character!
2. Merge Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 Combat
- I like the Tactical Aspects of Origins, but I hated the speed of combat. I loved the speed of 2, but hated the limited tactial abilties. Merge them in a way that works. I didn't mind the camera angles of Dragon Age 2, so I don't mind if that stays, but I'd like better zooming capabilties on the PC similar to Origins.
3. Let me feel Specialized
- Now, in Origins and 2, when I specialized into say... a Berserker, I didn't feel like a Berserker. Change that in Inquistion. Blood Mage handled it fairly well, with you being able to use Health instead of Mana, but the other Specializations, made me feel like a Warrior/Rogue/Mage with a few extra moves. Change up their playstyles a bit, make them feel like a Berserker, or an Assassin.
4. Companion Items
- I missed not being able to outfit my Companions in Dragon Age 2. I agree with keeping their personality, and general appearance but still let me equip them with armor that makes an impact. I have a Warrior Tank Companion? Let me give them new armor that changes their appearance, but into a style that matches that character.
5. More Specializations
- Awakening had 6 Specializations, while 2 had 3. We need more Specializations in Inquisition, let us customize our characters different ways.
6. Dual Weapons for Warriors? Crossbows for Rogues?
- One of my Origins toons was a Dual Wielding Warrior. Why not, instead of restricting Weapons to set styles (Ie. can't equip a Sword unless you're a Warrior, and able to use Weapon and Shield) make it so they're restricted by Stats again like Origins, to use this Sword, Axe or Mace I need 32 Strength. To use this Dagger, or Bow, we just need to have 25 Dexterity. Then add a Dual Weapon fighting tree for Warriors that's slower then Rogues, and more brutish (perhaps giving them Single Target DPS), and give Rogues a bit of a Tank Tree (Isabella and Duelist need something to compliment it!). Also add Crossbows as a Weapon for Rogues, make it a harder hitting bow, with less range and slower fire speed for all I care. I miss Bianca already.
Extra Note: Make each weapon different. Swords, Axes and Hammers were always carried by Fenris the same way, it looked stupid carrying an Axe or Hammer that way. Add more stances, more animations to change depending on the weapon you're carrying. Even make it so that Hammers naturally hit harder, but swing slower or something. It's a small change, and probably barely noticed but I think it would be a great addition.
7. Keep the Voiced Protagonist, but bring back Origins!
- I loved this in Dragon Age 2, I hated how mute my Warden was and loved the different personalities of Hawke. On that note, bring back Origins, while not as diverse as the first game, make it so we can come from either different backgrounds similar to Mass Effect, or change our Race/Voice Actor and then have it reflected in the game. Rich Noble child, turned Inquisitor? People will naturally respect you in the higher monarchy, but thugs and low lifes will dislike you for your money. Playing as an Elf? Racist card will be pulled on you again, but as an Inquistoitor you can act on it, or ignore it. The same as a Dwarf! I feel that having access to the Three Races, with 2-3 Backgrounds per Race would be a great change that a lot of people would welcome. I don't even feel we need to play through the Origins, my assumption so far is we're established in the Inquistor Order, and for the most part our past is behind us.
8. HAVE a bigger Impact in the world!
- Dragon Age 2 is based in the Free Marches. It's literally right above Fereldan, but a lot of the things I did in Origins didn't get mentioned in Dragon Age 2, which is odd considering a large part of Kirkwall is Fereldan now. Like, yeah we heard some of the small things in the Bar Gossip, but I'm a fan of the Butterfly Effect. Our choices should carry on into Dragon Age 3, have impacts, even change entire portions of the game if that's so needed. Make it so we can't get certain Companions if we made a certain decision.
Extra Note: The same thing goes in Dragon Age 3, I feel we should being feeling our choices as we make it. If we decide to torch a village as a sacrifice in the Civil War, people will be unhappy, they'll be less likely to agree with me in the future, Companions may leave, newer companions may join. Story points should change. If we side with King A, over King B, the next part of our quest should be different as they may have different goals. I think it would be amazing, probably add more development, but be well worth it if done right,
9. Less Bugs, and Quicker Fixes
- Short and simple. Less bugs, and if there's bugs, get quicker fixes instead of waiting months at a time. Yeah.
So, this is my list so far, I'll add more, take some away, and just in general love to chat about what other people think. Let me know people!

Seems like a reasonable list.

Only have 'more' specialization if each specialization remains unique in terms of gameplay, supported lore, and interaction with the world at large.

I`d like the finishing moves being brought back. And more of them too.

i would add more dynamic dialogue that actually changes the story, actual decision making instead of just the illusion of decision making (like not being able to save your mother regardless of what you do in the game), more companion interaction and no day 1 dlc or micro-transactions for the multiplayer. Oh who am i kidding those last two are going in for sure.

I want to say...
I've seen a lot of "I want my specialization to be reflected outside of combat" comments recently. I can only assume it's because of the Blood Mage spec and how no one ever notices Hawke's shooting fireballs and summoning lightning spells in the street in broad daylight.
I can understand this desire.
I just want to say I don't think I'd like it. I choose Assassin not because I take assassination missions (although damn near every character I'd run would) but because it helps with critical hits and gives me Assassinate which is devastating and damn near required for Bow using Hawkes. (**** you, Deep Roads dragon!)
I don't think I'd like a skill tree I chose to define my character. I'd like my character to define my character.
Now getting specs from masters and learning from them or joining guilds that will unlock it for that character. I can get behind that.

@Foolsfolly, I don't specifically mean like, if I'm a Berserker, that someone will notice in the game, but while in combat my character will generally feel more brutish and have the Berserker vibe. In Dragon Age 2, Warriors only got Stamina when they killed an enemy, which I didn't really like for longer fights. Choosing the Berserker Specialization would right off the bat, give me the Passive to gain Stamina whenever I perform a Critical Hit, as well an increased chance to Critical Hit.
Then as I upgrade that Specialization, I'll develop skills like Final Blow, and a Bloodlust Passive to increase my skills as a Berserker. But this Specialization will be Unique, just like the others and really make your character -FEEL- like a Berserker. I don't want everyone always looking at my character as a Barbarian, or a savage Berserker, as I'm sure my character personality wise would be dignified, but I do want him to feel like one in Combat, and all the other Specializations have their own feel as well.

They should give you the option to become a grey warden at some point in the game not right away though

Don't crossbows actually go further than a normal bow?
