Yes, I would love Tallis as a companion and LI for DA3. I found her character a lot more fun and enjoyable in MotA then Redemption. If she was to be in DA3, it would be interesting if she had doubts about the Qun and they would grow more and more as the story progressed (this could be contrasted with a Tal-Vashoth companion) and in the end, it's her interactions with the PC that solves her doubts.

I agree, to me she had a really interesting blend of backgrounds, and she was one of the high points of the cast of characters from DA2. Even if the character came off a bit of a Mary Sue (considering the whole dlc was about her), Felicia Day did a great job with it and i found her more refreshing than other DAO elves who were, with the exception of Zevran, divided in a simple way as dalish or city elves. I too would like to see her return in some way, preferably as a companion, but if not then as a sidequest npc that you can interact with.

My sentiments exactly :)

I thought the way she voiced the character in the DLC incredible. Depending on your own disposition towards her, she would respond equially funny or sarcastic. I vaguely recall the (imo) funniest dialogue in prison..(around 5:05
"I suppose with all this extra time, I could finally learn to knit."
"Could you make me a sweater?"
"Nooo."

^ this is hardly on par with the usual exceptionally funny dialogue in bioware's games. To me MotA was an oddity in terms of story and characters compared to the rest of their work.

Wow, why do people hate her so much? Is she really that bad? I haven't played the dlc so I don't know. Could someone please explain for me? I've been wondering this for a while. Thanks.

She was pretty much "meh" to me. Not awful, just uninteresting.

How so? Was she just like a stereotypical elf or something like that?

I didn't get the DLC because I hated the webseries so much. From the two episodes I saw, I already know enough to have a strong opinion about this. DA3 will be better off if the character and Felicia Day are not in it. I know Felicia Day is a professional actress, but I've seen better acting in Nostalgia Critic specials.

My take on it is that most people are upset with how Hawke acts and reacts around Tallis (or fails to do so as the case may be) than any real problem with Tallis herself.

Tallis was dedicated to her job and her nation, and served them extraordinarily well, but she's still rather conflicted about who she was and whether or not she was doing the right thing.  She's dedicated but not obsessed and she's sincere but not a fanatic.

All and all, Tallis was a stand up gal, even if she was a bit misguided in her politics/religion.  It's not her fault Hawke acted like a total goober around her.

Honestly, I can hardly remember anything about her; it's been a year since I played the DLC.

To be fair, some of the reviewers are at least semi-competent actors.

MotA was fun and Tallis was largely fine. Though I'm a bit annoyed after seeing Felicia Day pop up in a couple of shows I watch as a guest star, there seems to be a clear pattern in that she always basically plays herself. Tallis is more or less exactly how I'd expect Felicia Day herself acting if she were Qunari and an elf but otherwise exactly the same. I can definitely see how some people wouldn't like that.

If Tallis gets brought back, I hope there's more to her than "look everyone it's Felicia Day! As an elf! She's so quirky and funny and nerdy and cute!"

Gotcha, it's not as much Tallis herself as it is how Hawke interacts with her. Thanks.

Funny how that part about her serving her country well is all wrong. She went against the Ben Hassrath based on moral feelings she still had from her life before the qun. That is not a obedient member as the qun likes them, that's a deserting do-gooder that thinks she knows better than the qun she claims to love.

For me it really was Tallis herself as well. Next to the other Bioware characters she really seemed poorly written. Her use of language did not fit with how the rest of Thedas spoke; she sounded like she was written and voiced by a teenager. This leads to an odd combination, because like every teenage character she has to be cool, funny, but deep and thoughtful at the same time. Too bad she fails at every aspect. Her jokes are not funny, and this is coming from someone who can still laugh at many banters from DAO and DA2 ("I've got your nose"? WTF?).
Then there is her hypocrisy. She is introduced by killing a lot of Crows. She playfully winks at the leader before she slits the man's throat. Yet an hour later in game she is suddenly very very very sad when she has to kill a guard when breaking into a castle. I guess that was supposed to be her "deep" aspect, but, well... it didn't work.

So as far as I'm concerned, Tallis can crawl into an empty hole. Or one filled with ghasts.

Ah thank you thank you. This is exactly what I wanted to know. After reading that I dislike her and I haven't even played the dlc!

I like Tallis, even outside of being a gigantic Felicia mark. Even if you don't, that's no reason to exclude her from DA3, there's always people I hate in the parties (Anders, Fenris, Alistair) or ones that are enjoyable, but act stupid regardless of you telling them they are being stupid all game (Merrill and that damn mirror), I just kick them to the side and never use them. Outside a character-centric dlc like MotA, you can do the same ^_^ With more time in DA3 to discuss motivations and all, she might be less annoying to you too,

I support Tallis as a party member, and as a LI - for everyone else there's Murder Knife :D
