The Dragon Age franchise hasn't been without its share of fantastic facial hair, but it's always been out of reach.

Just look at our LIs:  what do Alistair, Zevran, Anders, and Fenris (and sure, okay, Sebastian, just for laughs) all have in common?  I'll tell you: they're all bare-faced boys who either cannot or will not grow the lush mark of a real man.  We have been forced to settle for these children while Bioware taunts us with such lustrous facial manes as:

Okay, no, Bioware can't take credit for the glorious and masculine bristles of Ron Swanson, but I think he belongs here as a source of inspiration that I hope the devs will take into consideration as they make further progress on Dragon Age 3.

I think that stache-lovers have been painfully neglected in the romance department.  Let this thread be a source of discussion for all things related to facial hair in Dragon Age 3.  May the coarse tendrils of Stroud's mustache give us strength in the days to come.

Oh definitely.  While one of our main goals is an LI who bears a magnificent facial mane like none other, we support mustaches in all their forms in DA3.  The PC, important NPCs, and enemies of all shapes and sizes should also be considered.

Dragon Age 2 gave us Hawke with the iconic blood smear across his nose. While this probably had its supporters and was indeed memorable, I think that BioWare can do better: Mustache Inquisitor for marketing, trailers, box art. He'd have to have a fabulously memorable 'stache, but the time is now.

There is often criticism of intrusive quest-giver markers in RPGs ruining immersion. While I do think some way of marking questgivers for the sake of convenience is a good idea, bright shiny labels floating over their heads really takes me out of the game. But I have the answer:


Dragon Age 3 proposed questgiver NPC

Is there anything facial hair can't do? I submit the answer is no.

You know, OP, you had me until that second picture. I think that Templar recruit has glued that mustache on. If it is a mustache at all, and not some kind of predatory caterpillar attacking his nose.

Sometimes the host isn't ready when the mustache chooses it.  The mustache will nurture and love its new home until Paxley grows into a fine man worthy to bear such a stache.  Sshh, just let this happen.
