4) Quiet but Aggressive Companion; not many silent rogues or hostile toward PC characters in DA.
3) Kossith Saarebas Companion; unique and interesting.
2) Orlesian Chevalier Companion; patriot-like.
1) Darkspawn Companion; tries to do good but is plagued by instincts.

Agreed.
I'd make a concession for characters like Cullen who were peripheral NPCs, but I definitely don't want former companions back.

I don't really care if the Qunari is male or female or whether they actually follow the Qun, I just think they're the most interesting race in Thedas and I want one in my party again. The rest of the slots I'd like to be filled by new characters, because as much as I love the characters from the first 2 games, I'm sure there are a lot more fantastic ones I haven't met yet.

Cullen I don't really have strong feelings about either way, but I suspect he's going to be a companion anyway.
