I honestly thought this is a more realistic reaction than what happens in Control where soldiers just start cheering when the Reapers leave. I mean, what if they're simply regrouping or defending something more important?

Reapers don't Regroup and nothing is more important then the Citadel they know it can be used to destroy them. 

Frankly, if I was a soldier on the ground and saw the capital ships flying away, I wouldn't cheering like I just won. I would actually be wondering why they are flying away, because they could be just moving to attack a more significant target. The soldiers cheering in Control doesn't rest well with me.

The difference is that here they see that Reapers are retreating after being hit by a wave of light, so they know thath something happened to them, but yeah still it'd make more sense if soldiers only cheered in destroy ending.

In a matter of seconds they have already communicated and debated decades of wrongs and reached an understanding.. Like the geth they now communicate at the speed of light, by the time the solders are standing up it's a different world, all has already been said.

They are left contemplating what to do next, time to go home? get a Drink? relax? Go to therrapy sessions over the "new"extranet?

It's hard to laugh when some dude discovers magic in a scientific universe and then uses it to give everyone green eyes, identical tattoos and ability to understand their mortal enemies and shells of their former people/friends/lovers (i.e. husks) against their will.
