My PS3 just died, having some type of massive hard drive failure. Basically, all my save files are gone. Every playthrough, DA:O and DA:2 is gone. What I'd like to know is whether Bioware might include some type of opening that would let us go back and make the decisions we missed.
Something like the comic for ME2, but a lot more in-depth (for instance, including choices from the DLC that I downloaded, payed for, and now lost). Or could they do something with our online accounts through BSN.
So if we've lost all our previous DA data....

Damn, that blows. Sorry dude.
As far as a comprehensive in-game decision maker for import data, I doubt it would happen.

Yeah, at this point, I don't see that happening unless the game was to end up also going to the Wii U or something, like what they did with the PS3 version of ME2 and the Wii U version of ME3.

Just suck it up and replay the games. They're not that bad -- well, not Origins at least.

Most of the basic important things will be available, I think - the same way when starting a completely new game in DAII. But I don't think many of the decisions will even make much of an impact.
None of the DAII decisions had any real weight beyond that moment in that setting - the war happens regardless, the leaders die regardless, and Hawke ends up 'mysteriously disappearing' regardless.
Plus, if they included Hawke and their decision, it becomes messy. They don't know WHY Hawke made that decision because all that had was two options.
Maybe one who generally supports mages ended up fighting with the templars because they want order over anarchy - they want to fix the system rather than debunk it. Why should they be painted as a mage-hater?
Maybe one who generally supports templars and keeping mages controlled sided with mages because they believed the templars oppressive in that capacity and following the paranoia of Meredith. Why should they be painted as one who wants all blood mages free to clamour for power?
As for DAO, the ruling party matters little because Fereldan isn't involved. Perhaps not even peripherally. Loghain, Anora, Alistair, the Warden, it's irrelevant. They may perhaps get a cameo (as Alis - and ONLY Alis, not Anora - in DAII did) but I doubt their role would be integral (that said, in his cameo as king Alis DOES mention going to Orlais).
The state of the Ashes may also be mentioned due to its religious significance, but is unlikely to affect anything more than a fetch quest or a line of dialogue.
Pretty much the only decision that could have enough WEIGHT to make a FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE would be, I believe, Morrigan's ritual and the OGB (Old God Baby).
Claudia Black has been 'confimed' (I say confirmed in quotes because it wasn't 'confirmed' for very long) - at least rumoured - to be returning. Her role as Morrigan is too iconic for her to return as anyone else while Morrigan still exists as a character.
And that is assuming, of course, that the OGB plays any role in this story at all. It won't be relevant to mages vs templars unless Morrigan decides to throw her hand in that, but it MAY be relevant to the darkspawn looking over both sides.

Does it really matter? DA2 hardly imported anything, anyway.

LPPrince! I haven't seen you around for a while now.
To the OP: That sucks a great deal. That's worse then the PS3 corruption issue DAII has. For both of those reasons -- yours and the MotA one -- I hope Bioware does do something to help us PS3 folk and others have a method of importing choices without resorting to defaults. A list of choices that would be recognized with various outcomes to scroll through would be good.

Now you have a good excuse to play all the games again!

There'll be a save editor out eventually, I've used Gibbd's editors for both DA and ME as I have the habit of deleting games after I've played them.

Gonna be hard for a person -- the OP -- whose PS3 just died to replay a game.

This forum vet's been in the MLP thread or off doing real life things. Returned to the DA boards with the announcement of DA3. Had to send a link to a thread I made about dynamic main menus to devs(which thankfully liked the idea) because it got buried so fast due to the speed of the forum.
Good times.

Thanks for the sympathy all! I guess I'm still holding out hope that DA3 might be released on a next gen in addition to PS3 and Xbox, and that the developers will add a feature so that decisions can be done. I probably will replay Origins (once I save up enough to replace the oldie). Anyways, can any developers comment on whether a feature like this will be added, to shore up import issues?
