Depends on how replayable it ends up being, to some extent. If it's as replayable as Origins was, I'll do what I did there and end up playing them all eventually and probably multiple times (although a rogue was my first character in Origins).
In Dragon Age II, my only character was a warrior. So, I might try for a mage to be different, but honestly if the replayability seems like it'll be low I'll probably just go for a warrior as that is my favourite. Possibly a rogue, but more likely a warrior.

I usually play a rogue first, because I am OCD and want to open all the locks. I'll play all play all classes eventually.

Male Sub Rogue... oh sorry this isn't World of Warcraft; Male "Shadow"/Assassin Rogue.
Edit: Also Elf if races are back.

I have three different "canon"s. One for each class. I consider mage my official one though.

Female mage or female warrior, depending on whether the combat and the integration of gameplay and story have changed for the better.

God, if this is the game where I finally go mage, I hope the combat is awesome. I'd hate to have a bad first impression of playing a mage(though I did for a short time in DAO to experience the mage origin story).

World 2: Human Noble Female Warrior (Origins), Female Warrior (DA2) = Female Human Warrior (DA3)
World 3: Human Male Mage (Origins), Male Mage (DA2) = Male Human Mage (DA3)
World 4: Dalish Elf Female Rogue (Origins), Male Rogue (DA2) = Female Dwarven or Elven Rogue (DA3)
World 5: Dwarf Commoner Male Warrior (Origins), Female Warrior (DA2) = Male Kossith or Dwarven Warrior (DA3)
World 6: Dwarf Noble Male Warrior (Origins), Female Mage (DA2) = Female Dwarven Warrior (DA3)
World 7: Elven Female Mage (Origins), Male Warrior (DA2) = Male Elven Mage or Warrior (DA3)
PC: (didn't buy DA2 for the PC yet)
World 1: Human Noble Male Warrior (Origins), depends who i decide on my Hawke (pro-Templar so probably Warrior or Rogue)
World 2: Dwarven Commoner Female Warrior (Origins), again, depends on my Hawke (pro-Mage so probably Mage)

Male Mages. Elven keeper/blood Mage, human battle Mage blood Mage.
Female reaver!
As a blood Mage would love to summon rage and sloth demons and I'd like to be able to summon sylvans as a keeper (envious of velanna and zathrian much!)

Oh yeah, and I'm under the assumption that The Inquisitor will only be able to be human.

i already played 3 different classes and 2 different genders in both origins and DA2. i am probably going to do the same but with different Specializaion Skill. I do hope new Skills are in store though. That be really cool.

I haven't been able to bring myself to play a warrior yet, because they bore me. Not because the warrior class is itself inherently boring, but because managing the warrior companions on my Mage and Rogue playthroughs has made me feel like I already played one. Or several.
Thus far I'm leaving my "canon" as Warden = Female Human Mage. I thought about playing a non-human but somehow the story *feels* like it's being told from the human perspective even though you can play other races and classes--elves and dwarves just feel kind of marginalized--for 95% of the game they're indistinguishable from smaller humans. Hawke = Female Human Rogue. Inquisitor . . . probably also going to be a mage. I've liked playing the mage thus far.
