Duel wielding warrior. Make it happen again, Bioware!!! (crosses fingers)

Or a dagger & shield warrior.

Or single-handed hammers.

Or a Rogue with two hand axes.

There are so many options that Dragon Age has denied us.

My first DA:O run was with a lady rogue, my first DA2 run was with a male mage. So chances are I'll be playing a female warrior on the first go-around.

I'm thinking a female mage in DA3. That or another female rogue. Dunno.

How about y'all?

My Surana Warden was a Blood Mage/Arcane Warrior in Origins (he was a Libertarian type of protagonist), and I went through Dragon Age II with a Spirit Healer/Blood Mage Hawke (he helped the underground). If I purchase Dragon Age III, I'll go through the story as a mage; he'll be a blood mage.

Well, he's lightly armoured and he dual-wields. Britannica says that's a rogue.

Or a ranger.

I usually begin as a rogue, but I'm considering doing my first playthrough as a mage next time. The mage class was a lot of fun in DA2. :)

Here is food for thought: how about adding more class variety?

Warrior, mage and rogue are fine, but why not go beyond those 3 character class architypes?

In d&d you had clerics, sorcerers, warlocks, swashbucklers, paladins, rangers and so forth. I'm not asking bioware to copy-paste d&d classes, but I'd love to see them expanding their class selection in a way that fits dragon age universe.

Obviously some type of priest class would make perfect sense. I know there are specilizations, but i'd love to see whole new classes as well.

Am going to start off as I do in every medieval/fantasy/rpg. Human, male, warrior, sword and shield.

Isabela was a swashbuckler.

All of them?

No, wait, if it's da2 combat I'll be stuck playing mage on every playthrough again to avoid replacing my controller. Was that a jab about wearing out the "action button" or a statement about how I will throw it if my rogue flies about like a cracked out madman?

Did I cry when I played the da2 demo? Yes. Did I still buy it for the story? Yes. I just hope I can enjoy the combat again all around like I did in origins.

Since I was a male elf rogue in DAO and a female human mage in DA2, I think it's time to go as a dwarf warrior.

In DAO, I played as a dual welding elf rouge.

In DA2, my character was a female warrior.

Judging by these characters, I think I'll play as a human male mage in DA3. Possibly a blood mage.

I wonder what classes the developers will play when they recreationally play the game(as in not part of the creation process).

I hope they'll let go of the class system, I much prefer being able to build your character in whichever way you want.

Regardless of that though, I'll be playing a mage (but my preferred class is still a mage-knight).

Probably warrior, but I will consider mage as well. I'll wait and see how the game looks first.

I think Dragon Age 2 broke me. I always played the warrior classes in RPGs until that game, now I can't play anything other than a Mage.

So either a Male or Female Mage, haven't decided that far ahead yet.

The problem with a create your own class system is that magic is important in the DA world. Having it or not having it makes a fundamental difference in who you are, how you're treated, what you do, etc etc in the game world. At least, that's how the lore discusses it.

Even being able to cast a single spell would cause you to be an apostate or Circle Mage, depending on circumstances.

So as much fun as a create your own class system is, I think DA is sticking to set classes.

I will likely play through multiple times, to experience the different content.

But my first play through will depend largely on if races are an option. If I can choose my race, I'll be a dwarf warrior. If we're stuck as human, I'll likely go Mage.
