What race, gender, appearance, and class of character do you plan to play in DA:I?

It doesn't help that Skyrim allows me to be anything I want and has a system in place that fully supports it. Vampire hunter? Yep. Werewolf? Yep. Thief? Yep. Werewolf vampire hunter thief assassin? YES!
It allows you to roleplay anything you can imagine and doesn't restrict you to classes. The system is very flexible and allows you to play your way right from the beginning. But the most impressive part is still how the game supports your head cannon in such a believable and satisfying way.
So, after playing a game like Skyrim, it's hard to go back to Dragon Age. The game feels so archaic with it's three basic classes and weak specializations.
At the very beginning of the game you must choose who and what you want to be without ever playing the game. That menas if you thought the description of a rouge sounded awesome, but you didn't really enjoy playing as one, you'll have to restart and re-create your character and choose a different class.

The problem with classes is that as soon as I choose one, I'm locked in. There's no room for expansion aside from the specializations. Because of this, I have a hard time choosing which class I want to be.

This is all true, but it's the reason I love Dragon Age as a series - the fact that you can't see everything on a single playthrough. In Skyrim, I played for 100 hours on one playthrough, but had no reason to ever start over. The opportunity for head canon is great, but in game, the roleplaying was shallow.
In DA, the game can reference and make slight changes to the experience if I am a mag, or if I support Templars or mages; since the game tracks all of that. It gives less freedom in character creation, but they also do a better job of fleshing out your character with in game content.
