The problem with classes is that as soon as I choose one, I'm locked in. There's no room for expansion aside from the specializations. Because of this, I have a hard time choosing which class I want to be.

It doesn't help that Skyrim allows me to be anything I want and has a system in place that fully supports it. Vampire hunter? Yep. Werewolf? Yep. Thief? Yep. Werewolf vampire hunter thief assassin? YES!

It allows you to roleplay anything you can imagine and doesn't restrict you to classes. The system is very flexible and allows you to play your way right from the beginning. But the most impressive part is still how the game supports your head cannon in such a believable and satisfying way.

So, after playing a game like Skyrim, it's hard to go back to Dragon Age. The game feels so archaic with it's three basic classes and weak specializations.

At the very beginning of the game you must choose who and what you want to be without ever playing the game. That menas if you thought the description of a rouge sounded awesome, but you didn't really enjoy playing as one, you'll have to restart and re-create your character and choose a different class.

I actually play all combinations eventually, but generally rogue and/or mage the most. Not sure which first... because I actually start both of them (generally one woman and one man), then progress with the one I am currently enjoying more.

Was easily my favorite in DA2. Twice as awesome with Madam Marian Hawke!

warrior of some sort for the first game. I'd be really happy if I could dual-wield again.

I'm going to go with a male human mage for my first playthrough. After that I'll start experimenting a little to see what's different about the other classes, gender and (possibly) races.

In an ideal world the order I'd like to choose to play through the game would be:

1st - Duel Weild Rogue
2nd - Mage
3rd - Warrior
4th - Druid-style fighter/mage/cleric
5th - Rogue archer

And if shapeshifter is back I'll play a male shapeshifter after my first play.

1. Male Arcane Warrior
2. Female Blood Mage

This is assuming said specs are included.

Elvish male Arcane Warrior Mage. That is, assuming that DA3 let's you play as an elf. Or an Arcane Warrior. Or, even, a mage, given that you might be a member of the Chantry's Inquisition...?

I'll most likely start with a mage. I never had a good luck when it comes to playing warriors, so probably a rogue after that.

First time I alwyas go male warrior... That's just "me" I guess. After that I think I will go female mage, and after that male or female rogue... that is my usual playthrough-list in fantasy rpg:s, and I'm sticking to it.

Wonder why some people want to play the rouge...

I would rather play as a 'rogue'... :P

This is all true, but it's the reason I love Dragon Age as a series - the fact that you can't see everything on a single playthrough. In Skyrim, I played for 100 hours on one playthrough, but had no reason to ever start over. The opportunity for head canon is great, but in game, the roleplaying was shallow.

In DA, the game can reference and make slight changes to the experience if I am a mag, or if I support Templars or mages; since the game tracks all of that. It gives less freedom in character creation, but they also do a better job of fleshing out your character with in game content.

I'm open to whatever. I played as a mage in both of the previous titles. I hope they do something to make the other classes more appealing.

I'll probably do my first playthrough as a Mage and then as a Rogue. Never really like playing as a Warrior/Soldier class.

Male warrior as usual. Cause stabbing things with a long sword never gets old.
