What race, gender, appearance, and class of character do you plan to play in DA:I?

My first character will be a Female Mage, I have yet to decide what type of personality she may have, but I've been considering a relatively ruthless approach. (Since the import will be from a Good Guy Warden and a Charmingly Diplomatic Hawke)

My second will probably be a Male Rogue, he will undoubtedly be a polar opposite in personality to my Mage.

Beyond that, I have no idea.

I played a warrior in origins, a mage in DA2.

I'd want to play a rogue but in both the previous games, I really didn't like it.
I didn't much care for warrior or rogue in DA2, so if it's similar combat, probably a mage again in DA3.

I would want to play as a rogue though. Then I would know all my protagonists could form a super team if they wanted and would be unstoppable :')

It's, like, a year away. (But, mage.)

On the other hand I really want to be an arcane warrior again. That was my favorite class in Origins.

The problem with classes is that as soon as I choose one, I'm locked in. There's no room for expansion aside from the specializations. Because of this, I have a hard time choosing which class I want to be.

It doesn't help that Skyrim allows me to be anything I want and has a system in place that fully supports it. Vampire hunter? Yep. Werewolf? Yep. Thief? Yep. Werewolf vampire hunter thief assassin? YES!

It allows you to roleplay anything you can imagine and doesn't restrict you to classes. The system is very flexible and allows you to play your way right from the beginning. But the most impressive part is still how the game supports your head cannon in such a believable and satisfying way.

So, after playing a game like Skyrim, it's hard to go back to Dragon Age. The game feels so archaic with it's three basic classes and weak specializations.

At the very beginning of the game you must choose who and what you want to be without ever playing the game. That menas if you thought the description of a rouge sounded awesome, but you didn't really enjoy playing as one, you'll have to restart and re-create your character and choose a different class.

This is all true, but it's the reason I love Dragon Age as a series - the fact that you can't see everything on a single playthrough. In Skyrim, I played for 100 hours on one playthrough, but had no reason to ever start over. The opportunity for head canon is great, but in game, the roleplaying was shallow.

In DA, the game can reference and make slight changes to the experience if I am a mage, or if I support Templars or mages; since the game tracks all of that. It gives less freedom in character creation, but they also do a better job of fleshing out your character with in game content.

So, your idea of roleplaying and how much depth it has is based on the idea of a direct reference to your choices in-game? Because if that's the case, Skyrim is just as deep, if not deeper than Dragon Age.

In Skyrim, the people always bring up topics about what you're doing in the world or even what kind of armor you're wearing or choice of weapon. I've even had guards threaten to arrest me because I was wielding the Mace of Molag Bal. They would tell me to get it away from them or risk being thrown in the dungeons.

In Dragon Age, you get a slightly different line of dialogue depending on your choices and what class you choose to be. But that's usually as far as it goes. The exception being who lives or dies (Carver or Bethany)  at the beginning of DA2. But you never hear people talking about you or what your doing in the world, who you are, or the people you work for.

Even Fable is more reactive than Dragon Age. Posted Image

Female warrior. I almost always play as warrior, I like the straightforward style of them. Rogues and mages require me to think too much, I much prefer the  'Me smash, you die!' sort of mentality Posted Image.

Mage first, though I will play all three eventually.

Gender varies, I was mostly female in Origins because I really enjoyed the Alistair Romance, but was able to play both gender Hawkes because of the adaptability of the LI companions in DA2.

I've never played as a mage, rogue archer, or 2h warrior, so probably one of those.

I usually play Rogue or Mage as I find the fighter dull to play. Though I would like to see actual Trap disarming like in DA:O not the lack luster trap disarming in DA2 and the Rogues combat speed reduced abit I get dizzy watching my Rogues hands move with his blades. I mainly play Rogue because I can't stand finding chests I can't unlock an playing warrior seems so limited.

warrior of some sort for the first game. I'd be really happy if I could dual-wield again.

This. I was bummed when I learnt warriors in DA2 couldn't dual-wield, so I had to go Rouuge for my first pt. I hope warriors can do it again in DA3

All of them. That's the same answer to the questions: "Who do you plan to romance?" and "What ending?"

With any luck the game will be conducive to multiple playthroughs.

I usually start a first game as a female rogue and do others on next playthroughs.
Only did warrior once in all DA playthroughs.

It depends. For the primary characters, I will play as a mage. I pray that mages are as fun to play in DA2. These can change very easily depending on the other characters in my party as well. For instance, I became a healer when I romanced Fenris because he was built to be a tank in my play through. It only seemed right to me to balance them that way. Same was with DA1 when I romanced Alistair. But Zevran made me into a warrior, and Anders made me into a pyromaniac.

My first (main) Playthrough will always be a male human Duelist rogue. Being in Orlais makes this doubly desirable.

My second playthrough is usually a female archer of some sort. In DAO this was a Warrior, but had to be a rogue in DA2. If warrior archers are back, I'll go that way. Mage will be third run...but only if they're as awesome as they were in DA2. That was one of the few games I could tolerate being a mage in.
