First playthrough is either mage or rogue. Chances are I will try out both to see how the classes feel now, and then decide which one to have a full playthrough with. Race is more tricky as I expected an elven playthrough until I found out that was Dalish only. I haven't warmed to them in any of the games or the books and enjoyed playing a City Elf in DAO. I prefer the idea of the slum-dweller made good than the separatist. So I'll most likely make a human or else qunari if I fancy being in the outsider role. With the latter I hate the idea of the Qun but I know we will be Tal-Vashoth, so I can deal with it. As for gender, if I have multiple playthroughs one may be male. Otherwise all female.
What race, gender, appearance, and class of character do you plan to play in DA:I?

I like variety, so I probally will play as an mage. It's kind of an trilogy of classes to me. First game an warrior, second game a rogue and third game an mage. Especially since I have the feeling that being a mage will be more relevant then ever.

Well, ever since DA2 I believe that everyone should AT LEAST play once as a mage. This class is bound to have more content than two others, simply because of being individually involved in mages vs templars conflict.
And in any game, given the choice, I always play as a magic oriented class in first playtrough.

Thats the thing though. Its not so much "more" content as the content is "different".
As a mage, you will feel their plight, and be more personally invested in their side of things.
As a warrior/rogue, you won't directly feel their plight, but you'll likely better understand the other side of the equation.

Human.
I tried an elf in DAO and since there was hardly any difference from human, I may as well play as human.

I hope there's more of a "how the world reacts to you" difference in DA:I.

Patriotic, ruthless friggin male elven Warrior. Crossbow toting warrior, if that's possible.
I keep changing my mind. :S
That's exactly what I've been planning to play since I heard we could play as an elf. You read my mind

Elves and crossbows...
I just keep picturing longbows.

Elven rogue (would've gone for human rogue otherwise). Especially if I have the opportunity to craft a devious, conniving anti-hero Inquisitor.

A humerous, kind, yet manipulative and scheming Crossbow wielding Human Warrior sounds nice.

You're basing your character on my mum (with a crossbow), then?

I don't know about archery. That skill got old really fast for me. Just standing in one place shooting arrows isn't really my thing.

That is okay Jaison, you can go ahead and get hit with pointy things while we stay safely shooting arrows from a distance.

I want Bow and Arrows to be brutal in DAI, ala Tomb Raider or The Last of Us.

As long as people don't explode when I hit them with a base arrow.
Explosive arrows? Okay.
