To be perfectly honest, I will play everything. I've done most of the origins and went through as Hawke with each class.
I will most likely start as a female mage though since magic have thus far been my favorite thing to play, but I'll hold off on picking a race until I know a little more about the back story attached to each.
But a elf mage was what I did for my first Origin, so unless some other back story steals my attention between now and then, it'll probably be what I do in my first run.

If there has to be a character in the cover, I would like it to be a female for once. Rogue would be nice, don't see those in the cover often either.

Gonna be a human female mage as my first playthrough, as my Warden and Hawke were.

I feel as though I'm the only person who prefers playing as a human - in the DA universe anyway.

EDIT: A whole race of barefoot people was just not realistic or practical in any sense. Not for wandering the wilderness, not for living in human settlements, and not for otherwise fully armored warriors who left their feet exposed for no reason. (Seriously, every time I saw an armored elf without shoes, I thought: "Go for the feet!")

I just always wanted an elven mage like that for me, personally. (I'd love to go for an Esmeralda or Rapunzel motif.)

To be fair, it's entirely possible that their feet are a lot tougher than human ones.

I hope for goodness sake the cover character is a female. I'm a bit done with all those men on the covers of epic games :/ Would like a badass mage too :3

Nope, you're not I also prefer to play human and my first playthrough would also be a HFmage. :3

I'd like it to be a female rogue as well, but I doubt they'll go with a girl.

the more i think about it, the more I'm not shure. I have only an import from DA2 (for now) who start with a female Elf rogue. than Hawke female rogue. I'm thinking about starting with a female Dwarf rogue this time. just to have all the races of the same class :-P

but I really love the elf...I guess I'm forcing myself to play again DA2 with my import of Dwarf rogue. than a warrior Hawke. I don't know if male or female. either gender, I'm going to romance Anders or Fenris. (can't romance Merrill. I feel like a phedophile or at least taking advantage from a retarded person. I can't. and with Isabela...ora I'm going to create a very promiscuous character, who bed his/her dog too, or I feel as if I will end up with some sexual desease with her. just a sensation I get after seeing her going to Anders for a cure to...something from the port =.=) than I would end up with a female Elf mage. for the sake of variety.

Yeah, I'm discounting Hawke.

So the only person I'll be basing my Inquisitor off of is The Warden- a male Human Noble.

Since I don't want to do the same thing twice, I'll play a female most likely. With races besides human coming back, I'll likely go with one of them(most likely elf).

And since I'm discounting my Archer Rogue Hawke, I could probably do that again. So maybe a Rogue Archer Elven Lady.

I will play human as always, not sure yet which class. 
While I agree that they should use a Female and a Rogue this time for the marketing, I'd rather they not use any character at all. Just use Varric and Cassandra for the marketing and leave the protagonist in the dark
