First definitely as a female elven rogue, possibly as an archer. Dark colored hair and either blue or green eyes, might go with yellowish if possible.

Male Human Blood Mage.

If the specialisations are going to impact the story as they've said, finally playing a Blood Mage might finally get us some "What the hell?" dialogue from companions and they might trust you less as a result.

The reason I've never felt that Blood Mages were interesting to play before because it really takes me right out of the story when the Warden or Hawke would berate Blood Mages, but no-one would call them out on being one themselves. We needed more lines like in Awakening when this was brought up with a Blood Mage Anders.

Hopefully there are lines to refer to what we are playing as. I think one of the goals behind DA: I was more reactivity to player choice.

Though if dwarf mage is an option I might have to reconsider... After all, there have been a few hints that they might get their magic back.

Really? Where?

Umm.. I feel kind of guilty if I got you excited about that. It was basically just a reference to Sandal's line about the magic coming back (and some goings on with Amgarrak and the Runic golem in DA2.)

It's not something I actually expect to happen, though.

I was confused too, as there was no hints that I noticed.

Plus, its already been confirmed that you cannot play a dwarven mage, same as DA:O.

Yeah I've seen more than a few people on the forums posts theories that the dwarves will get their magic back. I was just throwing it in there as a bit of wishful thinking. Didn't mean for it to be taken too seriously.

Female human, red hair, brown eyes or brown hair green eyes. Not sure if Mage or rogue though - Mage is my favourite class to play but my warden is a warrior and my Hawke is a Mage, might be time for a rogue ... We'll see

I can't wait to see the statistics behind what people play as in DA:I.

When they said skin colour will affect how you are perceived, will I be seen as Rivaini?

It was in the Gameinformer before you made the next one. They said skin colour and race will affect how you are seen.

Race I get. Skin colour, that I doubt.

In your Gameinformer thread:

Your racial choice colors your interactions with others; for example
elves may be persecuted in some parts, but an enclave of elves is more
likely to open up to one of their own.

I may have misread it and colour as in affect.

Your racial choice {BREAK}

colors your interactions with others;

Meaning- The race you choose will affect how people react to you.

Dude. No way is our world mature enough to handle RPG's like this having different colors of skin be treated differently.

There would be such an enormous amount of reasonable outcry that...yeah, no.

That's referring to species not skin colour.
It's stating that interactions will be affected, or coloured, by species (race). Rather than by colour.

That said it'd be interisting if for example darker skinned characters are referred to as 'Rivaini' such as the way Varric did with Isabela.

Edit:
Beaten to it, sorry, I was to slow  in replying.

Books do it, why not games?

No-one reads books now?

Eh. I'd rather skin color of protagonist have absolutely NO reactivity in game.

Race, sure. Skin color would cause reasonable outrage.

Hence why I got hopes up as I heard that backgrounds have been dropped.

Plenty still read books, no worries. ^_^

But games are an interactive medium, and there aren't many people I think that would want to interact with that sort of stereotyping.

As I quoted above, what if dark skinned people were called out as Rivaini? Backgrounds have been dropped an all.

That would imply a dark skinned character has to be Rivaini. I think when a character chooses how their character looks, they typically want the reasons for skin color, scars, tattoos, hair, etc etc to be left to headcanon, rather than be established in game.

I would like a reaction to skin color. Just as a first impression, you could correct them later. But.. yeah, not going to happen yet.
