What race, gender, appearance, and class of character do you plan to play in DA:I?

Closest you can get to a link between the two(DA, RWBY) is creating a character that could believably be in both universes.

Anyway, I'm just using it as inspiration. I normally go for realistic looking characters with real hair colors and eye colors, usually with long hair, etc etc.

Only sometimes do I experiment with what I'm not used to.

Example- My dokkalfar from Amalur(which I'm proud to say appears in Google Image Search for "dokkalfar")-

A dwarf from the underground dwarven cities could hear stories about mages.

Because they aren't directly exposed to them, they wouldn't have first hand experience to realize that they aren't all totally off their rocker.

Thus, the anti-mage reaction/sentiment. Not hard to headcanon it.

Dwarf brought up and raised with the anti-mage attitude, then sees them above ground and surmises that they are as bad as he/she's heard(Kirkwall).

Not hard.

Makes sense, although I didn't hear much about mages when I my PC was a dwarf.

I can't wait till Bioware reveals more about combat, classes, specs, skills, etc.

until I know more about the actual mechanics of the game, I can't really plan what kind of character I'm going to create.

but, by default, my main character is generally a sword and shield warrior. noble and virtuous.

KnightXE, like the canon (official story), but it's only in you head, like the Indoctrination Theory.

Headcanon is anything that you yourself came up with in your head to explain what isn't explained by the game.

For example, your character's birthing process and how much it hurt his/her's mom.

Thats the point behind a game as open as Skyrim. You headcanon a LOT.

I love that.

DA is much more of a mix though. You headcanon some things, but not everything.

I also love that, but DA2 really didn't leave enough room for headcanon.

Left enough for me...

Lucky you. I felt like my FemHawke was Bioware's character more than she was mine.

Hence me disregarding her as important and just focusing on The Warden as the only playable DA hero of significance.

So far.

The Inquisitor could change that and be up there with The Warden.

I'll see.

It will depend on what kind of voice we can use. I'd like to play a calm, cool and collected Male Mage this time around, but we'll see if that's a possibility.

given that the PC will be voiced, I doubt we will get multiple voice choices like we did in Origins.

although it would be nice.

We'll see. We dunno yet about multiple voices or not for say, races. Thats the best we can hope for I think.

Remembering some posts of Lord Raijin in other threads, I might try a pro-circle mage. I've played apostates and neutral mages but never a pro-circle mage. Any suggestions?

Am1_vf, are you asking for suggestions on how to play a pro-Circle mage? Because I tried to play my canon FemHawke as semi pro-Circle, admittedly hard to do in the confines of the game. I made her Andrastrian (and highly anti-Qunari), but not Keili level. Mostly wanting a neutral, peaceful resolution to the conflict, and putting the reputation of mages above her own desire to help them, if that makes sense. When Anders blew up the Chantry she helped the Templars try and reduce the obvious tensions that would result.

On to me and my character, I think I decided a non-Dalish elf was more likely, so I've decided on a female elven archer, (Dalish mage if available). I think both my Warden and Hawke were mage friendly so in the interest of balance, I think she, (the archer, not the mage), will be more anti-mage, possibly more open to the Qun and their ideas on mages.

I actually wonder about the elven race choice. Whether they'll be Dalish or City. Assuming there aren't two options.

in a way, I do wish we still had the multiple origins.

I guess the multiple races kind of replaces that. but it still would be nice if we could select from several backgrounds for our character.

doesn't mean we have to play through the origin like in DAO. but just something to choose, like in ME, that will affect our character's backstory.

Like, if you're human, you could choose if you're from an Orleasian noble/royalty background or commoner.

if you're an elf, you could choose City Elf or Dalish........

etc.

Thanks, I may try something like that in DA2 as a test-run.

I would like backgrounds to replace classes, so instead of a meaningles warrior/rogue/mage(mage is less meaningless but you get what I mean) we could maybe have templar/hunter/apostate or something like that. We could still be a anty-templar templar for example, kind of like that redhead guy in DA2.

Just an idea, no need to attack me for it.
