So, does the new class/spec information on the new website change anyone's mind?  It doesn't look like Blood Mage, Spirit Healer or Force Mage are making a comeback, though Knight Enchanter certainly has 'Arcane Warrior' written all over it.

Interesting that Warriors are getting revamps of previous specs, Rogues are getting a mix of old and new, and Mages are all new (at least in name)

Yeah, since spirit healing and BM are out the window, I'm thinking of a Rift Mage (whatever the hell that is) or a Knight Enchanter.

And no 'Keeper' spec, which makes me wonder about Dalish inquisitors.

sooo.... no blood magic, huh. hmmm... since i personally loathe playing summoners (necromancer is pretty self explanatory, rift mage.. well it sounds like it's some kind of demonologist - binding fade spirits or whatever, i hope not tho) and mages in plates are a joke, i think i'll roll rogue for the first time in 1st PT. Artificer's description is intriguing.

I don't really see my Dalish Inquisitor adopting Circle methods or necromancy, so perhaps Rift Mage might make sense for me, too.

I'm guessing the elven magical abilities will be part of the package from the onset with a Dalish mage protagonist, like the nature based spells available for Velanna and Merrill.

With the newly revealed specializations, I've decided on a Female Qunari or Elf First Knight Enchanter specced mage for my first/canon run.

My main DA canon consists of a male dwarf commoner templar warrior (sacrificed/dead), male human Orlesian Warden warrior (templar specced), and male DW rogue Hawke in DA2 (who supported the templars). So this sort of character, I think, will provide some difference.

-Female (in a canon series full of males)

-Elf or Qunari (don't have a qunari in ANY of my playthroughs, elf because to me elves fit mages well) Qunari also because since Qunari PCs are Vashoth/Non-Qun, I can envision she'd be more sympathetic to the idea of a Circle and First Knight Enchanter. A Dalish elf, not so much.

-Mage (in a series of warriors and rogues)

-First Knight Enchanter (to keep up with the theme of a frontline type character)

Of course I plan on all kinds of characters (want a male elf rogue, male human mage, female human warrior and female dwarf rogue) but I'm strongly leaning on Qun/Elf First Knight Enchanter Mage FemQuisitor as my first PC.

*subject to change, of course

You think there might be a few race specific powers?

I don't see why not, since elven magic is supposed to be different from Circle magic, given the People adapting to their nomadic environment and evolving their magic towards nature. Velanna and Merrill had their own abilities, from being able to move from one point to another through the earth to using roots to attack a foe, so I doubt it would be difficult to transition some of these talents to an elven mage.

So, what are you thinking; 'Nature' magic for the elf, Spirit magic for the human/qunari?  I could see that.

That'd be interesting. Have the Dalish "nature" Tree and a spirit tree...

I could deal with that.

Something along those lines. About the Vashoth mage, LadyInsanity remarked (about the Discover the Dragon Age Panel), "Basically, Qunari Inquisitors will have a magic skillset we’re accustomed to seeing from other mages trained in Orlais and Ferelden, i.e primal and spirit. The magic that the Qunari (in Par Vollen) and its completely unknown origins will be touched upon in the future, and the true possibility of how Saarebas magic works (compared to how the Dalish have some very different magic like Velanna’s underground movement spell)."

Indeed. I had been hoping the Qunari could get some special spells, but I suppose that's for a future game.

I'm playing human and pretending mine is from Rivain in my head canon for one of the playthroughs. Most likely a warrior/paladin. The next will be a Mage, probably Qunari. I'll probably play Elf at least once. My dwarves are always Rogues.

No one will ever expect a Qunari Mage Inquisitor! Looking forward to understanding these intriguing people.

My first warden was a female dwarf noble 2h warrior. My first Hawke was a female not-dwarf (alas) 2h warrior. I will probably make a female dwarf 2h warrior for my first Inquisitor, but there is a chance I'll break out of the 2h warrior rut, I suppose!

My first Inquisitor is going to be a Qunari mage with the biggest, most intimidating horns the character creator lets me have. In fact, I'd quite like her to have these sorts of horns:

Only Arishok-style double horns would be better.

Elf or Qunari Necromancer Mage.

Not sure if Dalish and Necromancy mix well, so probably Qunari.

Qunari mage, probably female. Knight Enchanter spec. Hopefully with some badass horns.

I'll probably do male human first, i know some people say humans are boring in fantasy games and RPGs and stuff, but i just really like to immerse myself in the world, and make decisions based on what i would do, etc. Atleast on the first playthrough.

Not sure what class i'll pick first yet.

Second playthrough will definitely be a qunari. Probably a female.

I actually play all combinations eventually, but generally rogue and/or mage the most. Not sure which first... because I actually start both of them (generally one woman and one man), then progress with the one I am currently enjoying more.

  I have done this too, except I start 2 female characters, one mage and one rogue and go with the one that I enjoy playing most..

As much as I love playing as mages and elves, I am really excited to be able to play as a dwarf, so my first inquisitor is most likely going to be a female dwarf rogue artificer.
