Dalish She-Elf Mage. Probably rolling as a Knight-Enchanter so that I can stay up-front and personal in combat.
What race, gender, appearance, and class of character do you plan to play in DA:I?

First Run:
Gender : Male
Race : Human
Class : Warrior - Champion
Role : Tank
Alignment : Chaotic Good
Trait : Willing to breaks skulls to achieve noble goals // Mild racist tendencies againts the Dalish (not Elves, Dalish).
My first run tends to the one I melt into the most, so basically my headcanon run. Oh how I will love to **** up those racist, self absorbed pointy eared D-bags who can't seem to let go of the past and grow up. This better be a possibility. Please?
Heck, only reason I didn't choose the Wolves in DAO was the sheer horror of leaving those poor sods eternally cursed. Otherwise I would have happily murdered that entire clan.
This will most likely be followed by a Male Qunari Mage or Female Human Rogue.

Male human warrior
As far as appearance goes, I'm hoping there is an option to make him somewhat older (30s or 40s), a bit of a severe 'no nonsense' look, and with a bad ass scar. Something like this, basically:

I just wish they gave us some backstory,
Right now, I'm getting a magical time travel vibe from the previews/ demos so far. We see Sera fall into the room, seemingly dead, with Iron Bull nowhere to be found; Tevinter Mustachio Magington is urging you through the portal, and Leliana is being held at knife point. I think the game starts after we've looped back.

Well, I intend to complete the class trio I've starded on my Original save with Origins which thus far is:
1. Dalish Rogue Female Elf
2. Female Mage Hawke..
Now it's the turn of the:
3. Male Qunari Warrior.
Looking foward to it ![]()

I will most certainly go Female Rogue for my first playthrough (Artificer specialization has a nice ring to it!) but I'm still unsure which race I want to roll.

Yeah, I would like a female rogue, but Sera would then be useless.

I usually don't mind having more than one Rogue in my party.
One of my DAII party consisted of DWRogue!Hawke, Isabela, Varric and a Mage while playing on Nightmare and it was really fun (Goad+high cunning defense FTW).
I guess we will see how much we can vary our party setup!

I can understand high crit builds for both Sera and Inquisitor, with both of them, things would die fast.
But then again, a qunari rogue just seems...odd.

Yeah I imagine the Rogue dashing animation will be interesting on a Qunari! But the Arishok was technically one so I have no problem wrapping my head around the concept.

Indeed, and it works well with her taunt lines ![]()

Don't be afraid to use companions that are the same class as your PC. In DA2 I was using an all rogue party at times(Archer Hawke, Sebastian, Varric, Isabella).

For race I always pick human first. I prefer starting with a male, but it will depend on two things: 1) will I be able to create a good enough looking male, and 2) do I like the voice acting on the males. I know, sounds a bit vain but it matters to me quite a lot how the character looks (I could literally spend hours creating the perfect character in an RPG).
I love warriors and will probably start with the warrior class, I would love to make a sword and shield warrior, but as a damage based and not tank based character. This was possible in DAO, but not really in DA2. I do hope they reintroduce the damage based SnS warrior. If not it will be 2-handed warrior.
I was reading the class and specialization descriptions on http://www.dragonage.com/#!/en_US/classes and I must say, that I do like the Knight-enchanter description. Maybe that instead. Would love to learn more about the type of skills under each specialization. Hopefully that is revealed before release (or at release), so I don't have to play for 2-3 hours before learning if I like the class specialization.
Second playthrough I have already decided will be a female elf pure mage build.
Question for the community: I have read this on the dragonage website:
Completely control the appearance and abilities of your Inquisitor, party of followers, outposts, and strongholds. Decide the makeup of your Inquisition forces and your own style of combat.
Do you think this means we get to completely redesign our companions, e.g. make Varric a melee based rogue or Cassandra a 2 handed warrior? I read it as such, just not sure. Would almost certainly mean respeccing has to be part of the game as companions come to you over time and not all at once.

In previous DA titles, I played multiple times trying out different races/classes and genders. I am likely to do so again. Except Dwarves, can't stand em...
I usually start out with a human mage followed by a human archer, then a Two Handed Warrior. With the Qunari now being available, I am planning on a Female Qunari Rogue Archer as my first attempt.

You're applying one statement to another. Youcan control the appearance and abilities of your Inquisitor. You can control your party of followers, outposts, and strongholds (meaning whom you have in your party.) Decise the makeup of your Inquisition forces and your own style of combat..

I am very conflicted. My main Warden was a two blade City Elf rogue and my Hawke was-- also a two bladed rogue. Tabris had the strawberry blonde/red hair, tan skin and grey eyes and Hawke had red hair, medium tan skin (the slider right before the much darker skin tones) and blue eyes.
I wanted to break away and go elven mage, black hair and most likely grey or hazel eyed with dark skin. However, I also have in my mind a freckled dwarven rogue with blue eyes and pale skin and a male qunari two-handed warrior with white hair and grey skin with violet eyes. I may reserve them for my other playthroughs since I have about four that include different wardens and hawkes. I thought about keeping my main line ALL rogues with red hair but different races, but I'm not sure because I'm really liking the idea of the mage elf.
As you can probably tell by my Shepard icon, I kinda dig giving my female protags red hair! Lately though I've been enjoying black and darker haired Skyrim protags, so who knows. Once I actually get the character creator in my hands, I'll probably give them all a look before going "okay this is what I want".

I'll be making a human male warrior with a no nonsense attitude. he'll seem rouph on the out side but pretty chill once you get to know him.
hoping to make him look as much like solid snake from the metal gear solid series as possible.

I was not going to buy this game until it went on sale, however I do not play many games and I had $75 in Gamestop money from an awesome mom of one of my students as a teacher appreciation gift at the end of the school year. She gave it to me because my kids know all about Commander Shepard so she assumed I liked all kinds of video games. Having nothing else I wanted at Gamestop I used the cards to order the game.
So Female elven Mage. When that is my option that is always my first choice. Eventually I ill play through all female origins and finish the games with them, if the story manages to create the illusion of divergence, choice and player effect as ME1 and 2 and DAO did I will undoubtedly play each character multiple times.

I guess my main was a cunning male human rogue in Origins, and a male mage in II - although I think I might change Hawke to female when Dragon Age Keep comes around. My first Inquisitor will be a sensible, efficient, male human sword and shield warrior, though I could make him a rogue instead if that doesn't pan out.

My first playthrough will be a male qunari mage, simply because it's a completly new aspect in the game and I am very curious how the race is going to impact the game. I want to see how other qunari will react to such an inquisitor, who's a mage on top of that, that will be surely exciting!
He's going to be rather (if it's possible) flirtatious, curious, naive and hot-headed. Maybe a little egoistic, too.
Ah yeah and it's my goal for him to woo as many men in this game as possible.
Second playthrough will be probably a famale elven rouge. She's going to be more of the calm type, but quite aggressive as well. I will try to pull off a renegade shepard.
