Need some Life of Brian references, too.

Like the Mage Freedom Front's Crack Suicide Squad.

"What did the Tevinter Imperium ever do for us?...

...All right, but apart from sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public
order, irrigation, roads, the fresh-water system and public health, what
have the Tevinter ever done for us?"

I'd prefer some self-referential humor. Have one (and only one) of the dungeons be based directly on the oft-repeated mono-dungeon of DA2. And have the PC (or, if a DA2 companion returns, that character) mutter something like, "This looks familiar".

Or, again, if a DA2 character appears, and you change their clothes, have them say, "Oh, thanks. I feel like I've been wearing the same outfit for a decade."

The best jokes, in my opinion, are in-jokes. (King Alistair and Anders meeting in DA2 cracks me up)

^ This. And I'd love a reference to some of the smart remarks from both games, like when Varric asked if brooding was a sport in Tevinter.

Rainbows and Friendships everywhere.

If that makes it to the final game, it would have to be pretty subtle. "Maybe a Unicorn for Rodriguez?" is one of those You-Could-Take-It-In-Two-Ways situations which worked pretty well(assuming that was meant as an easter egg). Considering Dragon Age is medieval themed, there's going to be a stallion or mare at one point. That would likely be a better fit, from the way I see it. Why not have a grey-tinted stallion that has trouble with galloping, regardless of the rider?

Rider: Strange, I just don't know what we did wrong...(Or something similar).

Random Templar: IT'S THE ORLESIAN PEOPLE'S FRONT! IT'S THE ORLESIAN PEOPLE'S FRONT!

Suicide Squad Leader: Orlesian People's Front Crack Suicide Squad... ATTACK!

* All members of Orlesian People's Front Crack Suicide stab selves; die *

Suicide Squad Leader (in his last breath): That... showed'em... didn't it?

It should be easy to implement a NPC saying "I just don't know what went wrong". A perfectly acceptable sentence for those who don't get it and a 'I see what you did there' situation for those who do.
Or a a scene where a background NPC gets derpy eyes. Or someone who likes muffins very much.
Or a rock that's named Tom. Or someone yelling 'Buck' instead of 'F***'.

Or we just go the obvious route and have a merchant try to sell his wares by claiming they're '20 % cooler'.

Really, the possibilities for ponies are endless.

A sparkly corpse named Edward would be very nice, especially if it illuminated a wolf pelt named Jacob.

A dwarven stairway named Tyrion ("Tyrion's bannister").

Four doomsayers in a city square all yelling about how "Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter is coming!"

Shawarma as a reward for completing an adventure.

A wedding planner asking the air "What in the Maker's name is a 'red wedding'?"

A quest giver with an eyepatch who claims to work for S.W.O.R.D. and has an assistant named Coulson.

A paint shop named "50 Shades of Beige"

Next to a weapons shop named "50 Blades of Fray".
